Explanation of today's outage.

Last night, Hassan began working on a planned upgrade, which includes a redesign of the site. However, to make a long story short, the update got stuck and some things broke, but Hassan brought the old version back.

Some things on the admin end are still a bit damaged, but Hassan will be trying to figure out ways to fix those on a test/duplicate site.

It had nothing to do with Hassan's technical abilities. It has everything to do with the server we're on.

No. Hassan is a fine tech admin. He's fixed the site every time it breaks, has only ever endeavored to improve the functionality and user-friendliness, and basically is the only thing that keeps the site running, despite the fact he has never RPed or interacted with the site as the rest of us do.

The fact that you suggest we get a new one is a) very rude, and b) very insulting.

But lets post the facts.

1) I duplicated the forums a few weeks back to test the possibility about the future update. within an hour i had the forums fully upgraded, within an additional two hours it was fully ready to be presented to the rest of the admins.

2) After 2-3 days of testing, i found the site to be 100% stable.

3) I asked bac and co yesterday should we proceed with the update. They gave their blessing

4) The server failed during the update process, thus damaging the database.

5) the forum did the exact opposite of what the trial showed would happen.

Everyone knows this server isnt suitable for the sheer size of this website, and sadly i was caught out by the server crapping out during the upgrade process.

We live and learn lol..
