DESCRIPTION
EV-BG5 units, colloquially known as "EV-Bugs" or "environmental bugs", were small droids specialised for maintaining indoor environments such as gardens, greenhouses, and biome simulations and replications. They were typically utilised in the dozens, hundreds, or even thousands, depending on the size of the environment they were assisting, and were designed specifically to give large gardens, parks, or biome emulations constant maintenance in an aesthetic way that made it appear more natural to viewers, as the droids emulated the size, shape, and appearance of fireflies.

EV-Bugs consisted of a flimsisteel hull with a plastron underbelly, containing all the electrical components to make the droids function. The droids were outfitted with six auto-balance legs, allowing them to traverse sideways or inverted surfaces and remain stable on plant leaves, stalks, and other highly malleable surfaces. Although outfitted with two wings driven by tiny servomotors, they were almost entirely aesthetic, and the droid derived its capability for flight solely from micro repulsorlifts found on its underside. However, the wings could allow it to glide, remain airborne, and rise higher than average repulsorlifts typically permitted.

The droid possessed grasper jaws, which, given its size, allowed it to clean on a microscopic level and remove invasive or harmful flora that it was programmed to eliminate with extreme precision. The manufacturer also outfitted the droid with small canisters of pesticide, allowing it to kill bugs deemed hazardous to the environment it monitored. Finishing the droid's equipment was a small container where the EV-Bug could store dead or decayed plant material and the dung of bugs or other small animals, which would blend into compost and then be re-distributed as fertiliser for the rest of the environment.

EV-Bugs were also responsive to humans. They were capable of interpreting human faces and being registered to an owner and, if programmed to do so, would listen to basic sentient calls or commands, allowing the droids to be hailed to a specific location. EV-Bugs could also be programmed to occasionally flutter by humans to land on them and remain in place for a time, adding a "natural" behaviour to them to make them seem more like part of the natural environment.

LEGALITY
The possession and use of EV-BG5 units is fully legal.

INTENT
I wanted to add some neat technology bordering "natural" and "science fiction" that are entirely harmless and add a dash of whimsy to threads (and give those people who have expansive indoor gardens or biomes a way to justify why and how it's taken care of without needing to constantly state or justify that they flawlessly attend to it all the time by themselves or with an army of huge, clunky droids)!
