Once again, Xano explored his own thoughts and timed out his response to a perfect and seamless monologue, taking a deep breath, “In my own opinion, a bounty hunter’s true purpose in a hunt is to protect all innocents around them while going after one executive target, no matter what that maybe. Like I said before, I would never harm one of my own team mates as long as corruption remains away from them. As long as they remain pure they should have nothing to fear from me.” Speaking this aloud had brought back memories of Xano’s home planet, Arkania.

Tears rolled down the young boy’s face as he crouched above a mutilated body. That body was the corpse of Xano’s mother, the only person he had ever been able to rely on, she must have been on here way home. Xano would never have found her had he not looked down that lone ally near his house.

Xano lived in the lowest part of the city and the surrounding area was mostly filled with scum, drug lords and the likes. His family had constantly been scrutinized and targeted since there was no one to protect them. The police didn’t care, they were a lower class family and not as important as others in their society.

As Xano wept, another feeling crept into his body, like a snake it crept then coiled as his wrath began to take shape. He looked up, tears still streaming against his face. He saw what the filth had used to murder his mother. A wooden board with nails embedded in one end of it, still covered in his mother’s blood, laid in one of the corners of a trash bin. They had been very careless, they didn’t know who was soon to be pursuing them, they didn’t know the last thing they would see would be that very board.

Earlier that day, Pakut and Ervinge had been in their usual spot, waiting for some innocent pedestrian to cross their paths, someone who no one would miss, and by no one they meant the police. Just then their wishes were granted as they watched an older woman pass by their ally. They took notice because of her blue eyes, she was obviously a mutie, definitely someone who wouldn’t be missed. They didn’t realize this was the mother of the boy they had constantly beat and stolen from on his way to school. That was a few years ago before he had started using a different route.

They followed her until they got to a good ally way, one that no one could see into unless they looked directly into it. They ambushed her and raped her, then beat her to death with a thuggish board…

Approximately one year later…

It had taken Xano nearly an entire year of his life to find out what had happened to his mother, he was about to teach a lesson and get revenge. Xano had used his intellectual skill to study the environment around the crime scene and had questioned several of the neighboring people to uncover the truth. He smiled at the fact today he would have a double vengeance. In the past year he had not only been discovering what had happened to his mother, he had been working on his ship, and more importantly he had been working on his body. He now felt powerful enough that he could personally take down his enemies. Oh he knew where to find these thugs; they would regret even being born.

The snake had plotted for almost a year now, and was finally able to strike. Xano had planned it perfectly, he knew that these thugs couldn’t resist a tempting treat, especially one they have had already. He had decided to take his old path to school that morning although he never intended on going back to school, not after today.

He had altered the nail board slightly, it was now able to retract a little so it could be hidden in his holo-pad bag. He walked past the two thugs, looked at them with false fear and turned around back toward the ally where he had found his mother’s body. Like dogs, they couldn’t resist the smell of fear, even if it was manufactured and artificial.

Xano walked to the exact spot where his mother’s tortured body had lain and turned to face the oncoming buffoons. Chuckling, they both approached Xano, “Wow kid you sure picked a great spot to get the shit beat out of ya’!” said Pakut, the more intelligent of the two. Xano tilted his head, a disturbingly savage smile had replaced the mock fear. A glint of light caught the eye of Ervinge as the kid in front of them stepped on an implanted switch. A dumpster suddenly came to a crash behind the thugs and blocked any exit.

Finally Xano looked each of them in the eye and spoke, his voice had already hardened into manhood and the gelidness of it sent chills down Pakut’s back. “I have indeed waited for this moment and my patience has paid off.” Pakut was getting a bad feeling, as if the kid had something wrong with him, something about the look in his eyes had startled him and he had never been afraid of this kid before. He said, “Look kid, you gotta beef about all da times we took yo money?”

Laughing harshly Xano turned his gaze to Pakut’s face and placed his bag at his own feet. “Around one year ago, you raped and murdered a woman, you beat her mercilessly with a board with nails placed in it. She had been on her way home from work to cook the only meal her children would be receiving that day, she had been returning from her third job in fact because she was the sole provider for her family,” while saying this Xano had been undoing the clasp on his bag. Ervinge had been edging closer to Xano, he was busy thinking, If I can get my hands on dis dumb kid we can do him good!
Xano continued speaking, “Since her death, her family has died out to one sole survivor, unable to care for his brothers and sisters they died from starvation. He survived merely off of his own ingenuity.” Xano had his hand in the bag when he said this. Pakut , though startled by the knowledge the kid had, moved closer to Xano catching on to what his partner was doing thinking, “Dis kid is toast!” Just then Xano cried out, “Both of you murdered my mother and along with her my entire family!”

Simultaneously several things occurred, Ervinge lunged for Xano, Pakut raised his arm for the first blow on their new victim, and Xano jumped on top of the dumpster behind him holding an interesting hybrid weapon. The wooden board now had a metal hand piece that was retractable, but both of the thugs recognized the weapon.

Realizing their mistake of following this boy too late, Ervinge looked up at the looming figure. The board came down, the snake struck. Ervinge wailed as his face was pierced by several nails, the remains of his eyes poured down his mottled face. Another blow to the side of his head spattered the wall and painted over the graffiti. Still screaming, Ervinge fell to the ground, a thud beside his head pronounced the arrival of death as Xano took the board in his hands and swung the board over his head like a golf club and drove the life from Ervinge, this had only taken a few seconds of time.

The whole time Pakut had been analyzing this scene of horror, Pakut had been trying to think of a way out. The kid had tricked them and blocked the only other way out besides the one leading toward the maniac. He decided to make a run for it and dashed across the small space. He only got a few feet past Xano when the board thudded into his side, spilling half of his entrails as he ran and Xano tore the board askew.

He fell on the ground moaning, looking to the skyline of the buildings for any help. All he saw was that same maniacal grin emerge over him, a demonic voice called, “Do you regret your sins?” Pakut thinking it might save his life replied in a shaken voice “Yes Goddamit, I regret my sins!” The chuckling began once more, an aloft voice replied, “Then Death take you, and I will let him decide your fate!” Pakut screamed one last time as the approaching board buried itself in his face, mouth still agape.

The scream died on the wind, and with it some innocence was lost in Xano’s life and he became a colder person. He decided to go to his ship an look for his father in the asteroid belt maybe he would find some answers there.

Xano’s vision returned to the detective office and he noticed the micro camera focusing in on the conversation. Ignoring it he looked up to see what Shawn's reaction to his answer would be.

"well I hate to say, that you may run into a corupt bounty hunter but you can't kill them if they belong to the guild unless they put a bounty on there head. It is nobel but you think you can save everyone but, there is always casualties, that happen before you start hunting the target, and there maybe more even if you're hunting them and you don't catch up to them fast enough."

Shawn watched as Xanos eyes glassed over as if he was in a different world. "Hay are you ok, hay?"

then he came back, and just sat there quietly observing the room. "Shall we continue then?" Shawn said getting up and opening the door back out to the hall. "I'm going to take you to another room while I finnish the paper work, sorry for the inconvinance." Shwan waited for Xano to step passed him befor takeing him to a pure white room.

Still pondering the answer he had received from Shawn, Xano walked into the empty white room, knowing this was where something would happen, something the average trainee wouldn’t know. He wasn’t sure why he had this sudden premonition, but somehow he knew something was going down.

As the door sealed shut, airtight, Xano calmly seated himself at the center of the room and watched for any sudden movements and listened for even the quietest of sounds. He wasn’t too worried about what may happen but he was prepared for it. He had with him his trusty, slightly modified, vibro-blade combat knife. He not only could defend himself with it, in its handle he had installed a small cybernetic mobile interface, and he could use that for anything from opening doors to hacking robots.

He smiled as he waited for the next play to be made, the opposing force was one both wise and powerful and he could feel the slight hostility in the air of this room, although not malevolent, the feeling was still one of power, a testing power, he had a feeling this was the “fun part” Shawn had mentioned early.

Shawn set up a knock out gas system in the room but it was quiet really quiet, do to the fact there were no pumps through a vent system smal holes in the floor and a tank full of the gas would open and the density of the air would do the rest. but also the gas being used would erase his short term memory of the past half hour, and eventually his memory would come back but not till after his first bit of training.

"Well let’s see how effective this gas is." Shawn said as he waited to see and hear the satisfying thud of Xano hitting the floor out cold.

The gas seeped into the room the same way flies gather over a dead carcass, slowly but exponentially rising. As Xano waited for something, anything, to happen the gas filled the room until most of the air was contaminated. Yet, Xano continued not to notice anything as he sat in the middle of the floor.

The Nanobots in his bloodstream had reacted in a very curious way to the chemical agents in the air. As he breathed in and out the Nanobots gathered in his lungs filtering the air so that only oxygen could come in. In fact, Golgi was planning on having his test subject forced into the vacuum of space to see how long they could survive with the Nanobots; of course they wouldn’t be able to breath as easily as they could in a normal environment but the subject should be able to survive for at least 5 hours in the vacuum of outer space.

Xano knew none of this and remained ignorantly sitting on the floor where the gas was being released into the room. Sitting and waiting for Shawn to return, Xano began to grow impatient again, but held his temper. Twirling his knife around, Xano realized he had better put it away, he might have installed an anti-alarm system on it that would prevent most weapon screenings from finding it, but he doubted it would prevent the eyes of anyone who saw it from finding it. He sheathed the knife back in its hiding spot and waited.

Shawn noticed he wasn't going down, and took out a data pad makeing a note to add to his file also extreamly resiliant to gasses possibly do to nanobots. 'well guess I have no choice to see how long it takes for him to break, from the whiteness of the room and how patient he is, and for the fact it'll take two hours before the gas is rendered moot.' Shawn sighed as he walked back to his quarters and, filed Xanos paper work and grabed his equipment and full battle gear, befor heading back to the white room's observation room to wait for it to be safe to go in. Shawn sat there drinking caff and reading a few blue prints of the jericho.

Xano, sat patiently on the floor once again wondering why it was taking so long. He had been thinking it was a little odd that he had been put in a completely empty room when he noticed the small micro-cam in the corner. He swore to himself realizing that if someone had been paying attention they would at least know he had a vibro blade with him, they might not realize what was built into the handle but they would know he wasn’t completely defenseless. He sat still for what seemed like hours when he finally heard the familiar hiss of the door depressurizing and opening, he turned to face the entering person.

Shawn snuck in through the silent door that was behind Xano and snuck up behind him with stun gun in hand and an inoculants version of the gas ‘if this doesn’t work then its official anything short of an EMP won’t stop this guy.’ Shawn slammed the stun gun into the neck of Xano, at the same time injecting him with the drug, which should knock him out.

As the toxins flooded his system Xano suffered from momentary shock but quickly recovered, reaching around and grabbing the hand behind him, it was interesting how someone had wound up behind him while the door was in front of him. At the same time he had unsheathed the hidden knife and brandished it as he turned around. Then he suddenly felt slightly weak, he fell limp on the floor.

The Nanobots in his bloodstream had been working until just now but while they had all been focused in his lungs, the injection in the base of his neck had caused them to frenzy up to the area of irritation and repair the damage. While most of them attempted to heal the small hole in his neck only a few of them had traveled up to his brain to destroy the toxins. He would be knocked out for a few minutes but only that.

The outside appearance of the injury had immediately disappeared. However, Xano laid completely knocked out on the floor as the remaining toxins were removed from his nervous system. The Nanobots had blocked the nerve endings in his neck from receiving any of the toxins but his brain had got an immediate dose and would take a few minutes to clean.

"Well no time to wait.” Shawn said as he dragged Xano to the brig which was just across the hall, he disarmed Xano of any weapons he could find, on him and through him in a cell and locked it, And waited for him to come to. “Well let’s see how much he remembers when he comes to.”

A thousand thoughts raced through Xano’s head as he awoke to see he was in a cell; yet, one prevailed above the rest. Xano believed he was being put through a test, he found that his vibro blade was gone and his memory was blurry.

The last thing he remembered was being attacked in the white room. He hadn’t been able to see the face of his attacker before he had been knocked out but he somehow knew he was not alone, even now in this cell he had an eerie feeling of being watched. He turned his head to look at his surroundings and noticed the pure emptiness of the room; however, he once again noticed there was a microscopic object in the corner of the room, yet another micro-cam.

His head was pounding as it readjusted to the pressure of the air when he stood up. At first sight he noticed he had no tools he could use in the room, it was utterly empty besides the camera, he turned and flipped it off with both hands knowing who ever was on the other side would be speculating whether or not he could really see the camera. He waited for the opportune moment for action, he knew it would present itself in time.

Ares whistled to himself as his armord boots clanged against the durasteel deck as he walked. No one could hear him through his helmet, and thats just the way he liked it. He was on his way to a particular part of the ship, the bring. A little bird had told him that his former recruit, Shawn Mac'neal, was performing a training exercise of his own. Being one that wanted to see if his teaching had gone to good use, Ares would interfere with said training, without Shawn knowing.

He carried in his hands a large pedistal, one that people would expect a statue to be standing on. Finding a good spot in the only hallway leading out of the bring and deeping into the ship, Ares set it down, stood on it, and struck a pose. He relaxed his muscles and let the armor support his limbs, making him stand perfectly still. In his left hand he held an exceptionally expensive rifle, meant only as bait for whomever Shawn was training to take a closer look.

Shawn watched the monitors and saw Xano woke up “ok time to get this show on the road.” Shawn said as he locked down all the corridors in the area of the brig. “This should keep him in if he gets wise and escape.”

Shawn walked down the hall to the brig noticing a statue that was not there before, and sighed “I have a bad feeling for that statue, of that statue.” As Shawn continued on to the brig, and entered it, "high Xano how’s my new sale item doing?” Shawn said with a playful smile keeping the appearance of a slaver who in joys his work to much. “I can not believe the amount of people we lure in with the promise of being bounty hunters especially the young ones. Oh and if you’re having trouble remembering things you’re memory will return latter. So until then enjoy you’re stay.” Shawn said laughing as he stepped out the door.

Shawn sighed again after the door closed ‘I hope this works better than the last one did, and prove that this is a better test of someone’s metal in the long run than an interrogation.’ And headed to an observation room next to the brigg.

As the man known as Shawn came by to visit, as well as announce his true goal as selling Xano into slavery, Xano became perplexed. He had dealt with slavers before and they hadn’t been a problem, there was always a soft spot in their pathetic cages. All he had to do was find that spot and luckily for him he had the best eyes in the galaxy.

Xano peered into Shawn’s face and gave him a large smile, his eyes twinkling as he listened to the cheerful man give a speech on how great a slaver he was and how amazing his methods were. After the man had left the sight of the window Xano started his work and set his mind to the task at hand. If he was lucky his ship would still be in the bay but time was wasting and he needed to find his way out of here. He knew his knife had been taken when he had been frisked but he checked for several other vitals.

Moving at incredible speeds he pulled several microchips out of what seemed to be thin air then ran over to the micro-cam (which was supposed to be invisible to the naked eye) and ripped the face off to reveal a display of fearsome looking wiring and micro-arrays. He took the first microchip in his hand and immediately hotwired it into the system using the available wires.

Xano was rapidly thinking that the microchip should send out a minor E.M.P. through the entire system rendering it useless for about an hour. He wasn’t worried about his nanobots because at the moment they weren’t attached to the system and most had already been bound to his organic tissues. Also the oxygen system should be on a completely different system or at least on generators, if not he had doomed the entire ship to death.

Xano quickly tested the door and found that it unlike most doors in the ship was of a more arcane type and would require force at the right points to open. He ran to the back of the small room and returned to the door while simultaneously kicking at where he thought the bottom hinge would be.

Like a miracle the bottom of the door cracked ajar and he slid through the small space fate had provided. He turned to look down the now darkened hallway.

Shawn watched as Xano started to hot wire into the cam. 'Perceptive guy, so far he is doing good, though what’s he wiring' as soon as Shawn got done thinking that practically every light on the deck went dead except for the emergency lights, the console which Shawn was on. the ship decks are electro shielded and each deck was able to be cordon off from the other incase of hull breaches or invasion which made the ship resilient in combat situations surviving longer than most ships of its class. This made it useful for training to for the damage sometime done to it.

"Very cleaver generate a small electrical feed back and cause systems to shut down and re-start, but I was ready for this." with a simple flick of a switch the decks power came back on, but with a act of its own the lights in the lock downed area flickered as if it was trying to work but failed do to a false sense of system strain as it tried to re-power up, Shawn stepped out of the office acting like he knew nothing and acting curious not on guard, and turned and saw Xano standing there, "How the hell did you get out?" Acting like he was in a panic went for his slug thrower.

Xano was taken by surprise by the sudden entry of Shawn and quickly slid to the floor as he watched the man’s hand flinch towards his weapon. Still maintaining visual contact Xano evasively moved closer to Shawn waiting for him to make his move.

His adrenaline was pumping and with it the nanobots further heightened his strength and senses. He moved to the left and took cover behind a large statue holding a rifle. A second glance allowed Xano to observe that unlike most statues this one was indeed holding a real weapon.

His already keen senses alerted him to this anomaly, he turned and saw Shawn blocking one path and ran in the opposite direction towards a pair of doors which he hoped were still disabled.

Do to the area faking power failure the doors were locked tight do to the fact they are blast doors, made it imposible for him to open even if the power was down, Shawn decided to bail on useing his gun and shoot his trainie and went in for close quarters combat with his combat knife drawn. "You're going down little man."

Ares, still in his somewhat compromising posture as he pretended to be a statue, watched the little skuffle unfold. He was tempted to mess with his Shawn and the new recruit, but decided to hold himself back until the moment was right.

The armor clad man was closer to the opposite end of the hallway from the two other sentients. Partially shileded by the waining light, he was able to watch both figures with ease due to the infared sight in his visor.

Xano got to the door and discovered his misfortune, the door was still locked and from the looks of it the door was a blast door so there was no getting out of this one. He turned and saw that Shawn had reached him and had drawn a fearsome looking combat knife.

Although Xano normally wasn’t strong, the nanobot had kicked in like a powerful adrenaline shock and had provided him with an animal-like ferocity, and just like any cornered animal, Xano turned to face Shawn with one last desperate attempt.

A smirk appeared on Xano’s face as he jolted forward attempting to plunge his clawed hand into the arm holding the knife. His mutated nanobot-adrenaline pumping through his blood stream and charging his body with speed and power.
