Affiliation: Anyone

Ownership: Senator H’Skirr, though anyone would be able to use it.

Intent: Generally when someone is using a melee weapon, it’s either one of two things: a lightsaber or a vibroblade. The variety of melee weapons within the SW’s universe is quite broad, but those used on the forum are quite limited, and, as such, I’d like to be able to increase the variety of the weapons used! The purpose of the weapon is to add another CQC option for those who’d like to be able to switch between lethal and stunning settings, and don’t have either the resources, or the requisite force talent to have a lightsaber.

Model: Electroblade

Type: Electromagnetic Melee Weapon

Size: The average blade is thirty two inches in length, but it can vary greatly depending on the height of the person using it. I.e. smaller species would have smaller variations, and larger species, larger variations. The appearance of the blade will also vary on the preference of the user.

Composition: The primary element present in the weapon is a lightsaber resistant phrik alloy with electronic components. Namely a pair of focusing rods line the blade that feed into a power cell and an electromagnetic field generator located in the hilt and guard of the weapon, which, in turn, energizes the power cycling coil. This creates the power field, which is typically displayed as crackling yellow or purple energy.

Features:
- Variable settings, from stun to lethal*
- Lightsaber resistant composition
- The ability to switch off the field, leaving a basic sharpened edge
- A non-conductive sheath, just in case the weapon is accidentally activated when stowed away
- Variety. Variety is the spice of life.
- You cannot deflect blaster bolts with it. Don’t try.

*Requires direct contact, no glancing or slashing blows.

So this sounds similar to a weapon that exists in SW, the electro sword. ((http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Electro_sword))

So I was wondering if you could give more elaboration on the weapons actual function/effects in battle. Or if this is what you were looking for, this could be considered generic tech already and everyone could use it, most likely.

I thought it might be considered generic tech too, but Kiro instructed me to do a write up on it. It has basically the same function as an Electrostaff, in a different body.
In addition, that weapon is just a length of metal with an electric current running through. It doesn't create the strong magnetic fields that an electrostaff does.

I actually forgot those things existed...

Also, @DancingFox - it's the electrostaff's magnetic field, which more than anything else, allows them to stand up to a lightsaber. Lightsabers themselves are contained within a magnetic field, which is one of the main reasons lightsaber blades can, y'know, block one another rather than just pass straight through one another, as are blaster bolts, which allows the deflection.

Indeed. In all honesty, I looked over the design from the electrostaff and went from there. That's where the phrik alloy is coming from, though it does seem a good idea for the sword's guard to contain these elements, since the magnetic field doesn't encase anything below the blade.

This seems like a better version of something I tried to make once, but I did it incorrectly and it was too OP, haha. Good job on the write-up!

Just be careful when you're sparring with a guy with a vibroblade.
Let's just say things get explosive when they..cross.
Last thing you and yer buddies need are a buncha missing fingers.
