The east mountains were a rough climate, even by the standards of the worldwide Tundra that was Arkania. A brisk north wind wiped through the pass thrashing Freyja's now braided blonde hair from side to side. She covered her eyes from the icy wind as she looked out over the frozen and snow-covered mountain range that surrounded them on all sides. The great pass they were standing in was flanked by two huge mountains, a small river ran through the middle, the top covered by a thick sheet of ice strong enough to hold Freyja's and Mig's wait as they crossed.

The pair had kept in the shadow of the pass as to not be seen from afar, Freyja had swapped her previous cloak for a white moulted one to better blend into the area around her, the last thing they needed was an ambush. She turned back to look at the Gotal, cupping her hands in front of her mouth she blew on them trying to get a little feeling in them before she spoke. "We have just passed Dudek's Peak, about a half day's walk from here. We are going to need to camp out." The pair were carrying heavy rucksacks, most of it was cold weather gear, including a separate tent for each of them.

Freyja had heard that there was at least another two groups heading out for this elusive dragon, she just hoped they got the drop on any of them instead of the other way around.

Hiking and camping was seemingly like a ton of fun for Mig. They had created a bit of a mess earlier so they knew other parties would be searching for the dragon. Mig understood though that many of them wanted to kill the dragon rather than their own goal. Perhaps they could abuse that. The Gotal had all of his usual stuff packed with him or out in the open. Even his PIPE had managed to be hidden away into a couple pieces inside the large bag on his back. One memo that Mig had not received was wearing a cloak and bag that matched the environment. His bright pink bag mixed with the brown cloak over silver and blue armor was probably not the best camouflage.

"Great!" Mig said loudly as the happy Gotal continued to hike.

Mig knew they were hunting a big dangerous beast. He just could not help but be happy to be paired with his friend Freyja. She was prickly sometimes but most of the time she was his best friend. The Gotal wondered why else she would pick him for this mission. It just warmed his heart to be able to help out with this important task. This type of task, hunting a dragon while avoiding other hunters, required his absolute best. Mig put forth an explosive rocket launcher, a disruptor pistol, a bowcaster, and his expertise for the hunt. For a true hunter it was enough to make someone jealous, but to Mig they were just the tools he needed to be a rebel.

"Freyja, thanks for taking me with you!" He said with the same jovial tone. "You're my best friend!"

Freyja's eyes shot wide as she spotted the bright pink satchel on the back of the Gotal. How had she not noticed the thing before, 'For Frak's Sake' she thought. The Gotal was an idiot but she was a fool for not checking the creature over before they left, he was a liability at best, an accepted one on this mission but seriously. "Are you actually kidding me." She said to the Gotal as her arms dropped to her side. "Do even have a brain inside that furry head of yours? That bag can be seen from a mile away." Her voice wasn't angry or aggressive, it was pure disbelief if anything.

As if on cue, an explosion went off only a few meters from the pair, sending snow, ice and dirt in all directions. Freyja dived onto the ground keeping her body low to the ground. She shifted the pack off her back and putting it in front of her as some sort of cover. The valley was streaked with red and green plasma. As six men appeared on the other side, one with an obvious limp in his left leg.

Somehow they had been spotted by some old friends. Mig was baffled as to what Freyja thought was wrong with his bag. It was cute and stylish. His whole camping set and the PIPE was inside of it. The pink abomination was set down gently next to a tree the Gotal decided to use as cover. He quickly unzipped it and found the PIPE pieces. It took him a moment to assemble it as he put it together backwards the first time. Once he had it correct, he loaded it and turned out from cover to fire. A few loud expletives were heard before the explosion hit. A few more loud expletives followed the explosion.

"Wooooooosh!" Mig mimicked his rocket as it flew towards the enemies. "Go away, bad friends!"

The Gotal watched as only the man with the limp was too slow to dive out of the way. He quickly became a total cripple as his legs were shredded. Mig felt a little bad for the guy getting the short end of the stick both times. Not dead, but suffering nonetheless. He still did not regret letting him live though. Mig wasn't an executioner. By the time this fight was over he'd bleed out and Mig would have done it in the end, but in a more honorable way.

A few shots came Mig's way and he ducked back behind cover, reloading his PIPE for another try later. For now though he would likely switch to the Bowcaster. This range and speed of fire necessary for the spread out enemies would be better served by a bowcaster. The PIPE would just be ready to go in case someone got stubborn or Mig for bored.

Freyja was still miffed at her companion as the hellfire reigned in on their location, the snow was erupted all around them, the hot plasma combining with the frozen water creating a mini smoke screen around the pair. Mig fired off his PIPE, luckily this time it was not pointed at Freyja and managed to hit one of the enemies, now they were down to fire. Freyja shuffled the rifle around to her side, popping in a charge pack she aimed it towards a pair of the attackers who were grouped together. She let out two bursts of three shots at the pair, the first hit the man square in the chest taking him down. The second one was slightly obscured by the mist and her shots missed, slamming into the snow about five foot above the man's head.

She cursed herself for missing, but that was not the worst of it, over the rim behind the attackers a landspeeder appeared, a turret on its back, it was meant for taking down the Dragon so it would make short work of the pair of them. "Gotal, we need that PIPE again." She shouted over the roar of the increased firepower being laid down on the pair.

Mig had just begun to set up his bowcaster when the land speeder showed up. That kind of heavy fire power was what Mig's weapons were actually meant to be used for. It was much more boring that way though. He almost let out a sigh as he set down the powerful slug thrower in exchange for the PIPE once more. He waited for a break in the fire towards himself before quickly pushing out of cover to aim. The vehicle was holding still as the turret laid down heavy fire. Men had taken cover and were trying to support it. They thought they had finally won. Until the Gotal managed to sneak in a rocket shot. Everyone seemed to freeze and watch it soar in seeming slow motion towards its target.

"Woooooossshhhhh..." Mig nearly whispered as he mimicked the shot leaving the PIPE.

The man on the turret tried to jump off at the last moment, but explosions knew no mercy. All eyes were fixed on the land speeder when the proton rocket eviscerated it. The anti vehicle explosive make the vehicle go away. Plus any people standing near or on it. As if lighting a bonfire, the hill lit up with flame as the speeder burnt. It took a moment for everyone to unpause, but they quickly began to focus on Mig again when they did. Mig dropped the empty PIPE and ducked behind cover again, reaching for the bowcaster with a smile on his face.

"Boom!" He yelled out.

The explosion from the landspeeder took out another of the attackers who had gotten a little to close to the speeder before it erupted into a ball of flame. Black smoke from the wreckage began to filter up into the sky above them. The blaster fire subsided for a moment allowing Freyja to re-position a little further away from the Gotal, splitting their enemies fire. Taking cover behind a boulder, she took a few deep breaths before leaning around its edge, there were three left, two on her side of the speeder and the last just beyond the smoke and out of her effective range. That one needed to be left to the alien.

Dropping back behind the boulder she shifted herself down onto her knees, steadying herself before popping around the corner and taking a shot at both of the guards. Her steadied aim and the confusion the explosion had wrought combined perfectly, the first blaster bolt hitting the hunter on the side of the head just above the ear, killing him instantly. The second took the man in the jaw, the plasma sinking into his neck, more gruesome but still a quick kill. Freyja moved back behind the boulder as she waited for the Gotal to take out the last man.

Mig cackled with glee as he watched the flames rise on the hill. It had been a highlight of the trip so far. Explosions and fire were his favorite things. Freyja took the distraction as a chance to do some real damage. The last man started to panic and began to take out a grenade to try to toss towards the Rebels. By that point, Mig had just switched to his bowcaster and found the man. The Gotal had to act quickly to help avoid an explosive coming his way next.

"Grenade!" He shouted as he pulled the trigger to his bowcaster.

The warning sent to Freyja did two things. It warned her, for one. Also, it made the man turn to look at Mig before he threw it. His eyes went wide as he saw he was too late. The powerful slug slammed him his neck and sent him tumbling to the dirt, the grenade slipping from his hand and landing with him. A sickening explosion finished off the likely already dead bandit in a rain of red mist and shrapnel. The Gotal cringed at the overkill a bit before turning to Freyja and cheering.

"I did it!" Mig shouted to his lady friend.

Freyja spun at the 'Grenade' shout, dropping down onto the floor to try and protect herself as much as possible from flying shrapnel. She watched from the ground as a mass of blood, gore and body parts went flying as the grenade ripped into the downed man. It was a red mess across the rest of the white snow around it. Pushing herself back to her feet she looked around to see the carnage that the small battle had caused, the ground around herself and the Gotal was ripped apart by the plasma of their enemies, a half dozen bodies littered the ground, smoke still rose from the burning landspeeder. Looking over to the Alien she waved him over to her.

"We need to keep moving we are still a fair way out from the sighting. And this mess is only going to attract more attention." She called over to the Gotal. Turning away from him she picked up her bag, luckily it hadn't taken any damage, a tent with a giant hole was the last thing she needed right now. She looked back over her shoulder to see the Gotal and his bright pink bag and just shook her head before she began walking.

After taking in the total destruction of the battlefield, it was time to go. Mig waddled quickly after Freyja towards the next place to camp. These mountains were cold. It would be tough for a human like Freyja to stay warm way up here. Mig had fur though and that was a blessing. He felt pretty warm with his fur and a light jacket. Inside his pink bag of wonders he had his tent, some blankets, some candles, and everything he needed for a romantic night of camping. His face was locked in a giant smile as they trekked on towards the dragon den.

"In the aaaaiiiiiirrr you fllllyyyy!" Mig suddenly would sing out as they got deeper into the woods. "Brringing fear to those belooowwww! MASTER OF THE AAAAAIIIIR!"

Mig shook his entire body as he sang, pretending to be a dragon by flapping his wings. Instead of roaring like a dragon he would belch as loudly as he could in Freyja's direction. The pink bag on his back likely did not help the image. He was truly excited and showing it in true Mig fashion. Unless Freyja shot him, he would finish his song too. Dedication to the song was important.

"Dragon...." He whispered dramatically after finishing his song, striking a fearsome pose.

Freyja tried not to look at the creature as it pranced around the frozen ground. She knew what she has signed up to when she brought the Gotal along, but still, this was something else. She tried to block out the alien's screeching as she continued to walk away from the battlefield. 'Just one more day, just one more day' she said to herself over and over again in her mind. Hopefully, the Gotal could be a good enough distraction tomorrow to get the mother Dragon away tomorrow so she could get the egg. If the alien died in the attempt that wouldn't be an issue for the woman. She felt sorrier for the Dragon trying to digest the creature.

She left the Gotal in his random pose, one leg in the air his arms to the sides flapping on the ridge of the hill as she made quickly down the other side, keeping as much distance as possible. They walked for a further two hours before the light began to fade. Stopping she looked around the smaller valley they had entered, a grouping of boulders to the east gave some cover for the wind. "It's getting dark and we need to set up camp before we lose all the light." She said to the alien before making over to the rocks.

As the light began to fade and give way to night, Mig and Freyja were at an ideal stopping point to camp. Their adventure so far had been quite explosive but this seemed like it could work out to be a peaceful night. Working as a Rebel meant that the Gotal met a lot of different people and was always working with someone new. Freyja was the most constant being in his life. At first he thought it was coincidence. More missions together and her inviting him to this epic dragon hunting adventure made him realize that this was much more than just happenstance. She liked Mig. This realization sent the Gotal into a packing frenzy earlier as he grabbed his big pink bag and filled it with everything he would need. Tonight was the night.

Stars sparkled up above brilliantly due to a lack of light pollution out in the mountains. The cozy little rock cover made sure the wind couldn't blow a fire. Perhaps even a bunch of tiny fires could survive too. Mig set up his tent which was noticeably big enough for two people. Hidden from Freyja's view, he set up a comfortable bedroll inside and covered it in rose petals. Every romantic night needed mood lighting so Mig turned his lantern inside down low, providing a soft, warm glow for inside of the tent. Finally, but most importantly, he went outside to light a bunch of candles making a pathway to his tent entrance.

"Freyja." Mig said, trying to sound suave and human. "It's ready."

If she were to turn to Mig she would see quite the display. Mig himself was suddenly wearing a soft, blue robe instead of his armor. His fur was... waxed or something to give it a sleek shine. As if that wasn't enough, the Gotal had a pipe in his mouth. Upon closer inspection one would notice it was blowing bubbles instead of smoke. Drugs were icky. In the background, Freyja would be able to hear that soft, romantic Jizz music had begun playing from his tent as well. A perfect twilight made everything glow beautifully, especially Mig's unnaturally shined horns.

"I had to sacrifice a lot of ammo and food for this, but you're worth it." He said, giving a weird half grin while biting his pipe. "Yes, I've felt our connection too."

The sun had disappeared behind the mountain giving Freyja just enough light to put up her tent. It was small just enough space for one, the close quarters and lack of space for air kept it warm inside, exactly what was needed up here in the mountains. She had brought a small campfire and proceeded to heat up some of their rations and water whilst the Gotal disappeared behind one of the large rocks to do whatever he thought he needed to get done up here in the mountain. Whatever was taking so long she hoped it was worth it, his food would grow cold she was not going to wait for him. Once hers was warmed through she began to shovel it down, Freyja wanted her bed after a long day and there was an early start ahead tomorrow.

She heard the Gotal exit his tent and was fumbling around outside, the stupid Alien had probably dropped something, probably his rifle and was proceeding to not try and shoot himself in the face. She was drinking the last of her water when she heard the creature say her name. She turned to look at the alien, he was stood in a stupid blue robe, a twig between his lips blowing bubbles. Her face was a look of pure confusion until he spoke again.

The number of expressions, thoughts, feelings and different ways to kill the Gotal which Freyja went through in the following few seconds were almost limitless. Her face then turned blank, her eyes looking clean through the creature, she did not answer him. Letting him stand there in the middle of their camp until the music finally broke off and all that could be heard was the howling wind coming through the pass. Finally, she began to move, slowly almost seductively at first, uncoiling from her cross-legged position on the floor. She left her cup on the floor as she walked closer to the alien. Her hand slid down her hip and grasped around the handle of her pistol, as quick as a flash she closed the final few steps, drawing the pistol and shoving it into the place she expected the creatures reproductive organs to be.

Her face had turned to fury, her eyes were wide, pupils dilated. Through gritted teeth, she spoke, "In what right mind, do you think there is a connection between us." She paused her eyes staring into his with pure distaste. "I suggest that you take that pipe, blow out your candles and go back to your tent with you Jizz music and play with your shiny horn. Before I place that little pipe of yours somewhere it was not designed to go. Do you understand?" She said pushing the pistol harder into the Gotal.

Mig had not really considered that he could be wrong. She had seemed to into him before now. The Gotal was unsure f this was denial, a way of flirting, or, least likely, a true expression of her feelings. The pistol to the groin hurt though and she seemed unwilling to accept her feelings tonight. He could give her that space for now. Though it hurt him to see her in such pain. A romantic night was ruined and now Mig would have to cry himself to sleep. Not for his own feelings, but knowing that she was afraid to give in to her own.

"Oh... Okay..." Mig replied quietly as he backed away from the angry woman. "Good night then."

A slow, emotional walk back to his tent would probably be hard to watch. Mig would blow out each candle but leave them in place. His head would sink towards the floor as he moved. When he finally reached the tent he would plop himself face first onto the bedroll. The Gotal's feet would be sticking out of the tent as he had not pushed himself in far enough. A hand would search for the lamp and turn it off completely. Rose petals would only remind him of the loneliness they both must be feeling. Ugly sobbing would come from the tent for a good hour before Mig fell asleep.

//End
