    • NAME: Edric Destrus (Alias"Nevermore")
      FACTION: Hutt Cartel
      RANK: Lvl. 1 Bounty Hunter
      SPECIES: Epicanthix
      AGE: 26
      GENDER: Male
      FORCE SENSITIVE: Negative
      LANGUAGES: Galactic Basic, Huttese

      APPEARANCE:
To say that Edric is an average-looking near-human does not quite do his appearance justice, he is in-fact what most with an interest in men would call 'handsome' but usually only in a appreciatory sense. No-one stops to stare at how ravishingly good-looking he is, no-one dares their friends to try and approach him in the cantina due to how aloof he is of his appearance, he is simply handsome in the appreciative sense...... nothing more, nothing less. In the same fashion, his features do not stick out as distinctly ugly or unpleasant and only someone with a bias toward his type of being would turn their nose up at him. All-in-All Edric is just another moderately good-looking face in every crowd, worthy of mention only in that he does not particularly stick out anywhere there are humans or other near-humans. His raven-dark hair is normal and well-maintained, his features strong but not overly blocky, he's of average height for a male of his species and his eyes convey a sharp wit and equally sharp intelligence.

All this suits him just fine.

      ATTRIBUTES/SKILLS:
Edric is a man used to facing things that are bigger, stronger or faster than him, and in some rare and unfortunate cases, some combination of all three. However he has never, and assumes he never will, meet someone or something more tenacious, stubborn and adaptive than he is. While Edric is completely average as far as his physical strength and speed are concerned, his reflexes and quick-thinking in life-and-death situations are both razor-sharp and honed not only from his people's warrior culture during his young life, but during his time as a gladiator fighting for the Cartel's amusement.

Edric is a slightly above-average hand-to-hand combatant, owing to honing the teachings of his people during his years in various Hutt arenas. He has various basic movements down to pure instinct now, but due to his limited exposure to his own people, was never taught more advanced techniques.

Conversely, Edric has actively avoided the use of melee weaponry such as swords and basically anything else that he would have to wield in one-hand while confronting whatever kind of beast the arena demanded he face. He learned rather quickly during his time fighting for survival that since he lacked the strength of a Wookie and durability of a Gundark, avoiding getting too close to his enemies was his best modus-operandi.

Edric's most profound skill has to lie with his marksmanship and while he is a very skilled user of his trusted sniper rifle, it usually doesn't take more than a couple shots from it to put down anything he sets his sights on. No instead Edric's true-skill comes down to his ability to simultaneously wield his twin pistols with accuracy and grace; 'gun-slinging' as it is colloquially called. With keen reflexes, ambidexterity and a knack for keeping track of both his guns at once he's a good contender is nearly any firefight.

Outside of purely combative skills Edric is a passable pilot, though nothing anyone would bat an eyelash at. He does have some adequate talent when it comes to hacking security systems due the demands his jobs have often placed on him and while he is a better hacker than he is a pilot, he won't be contending with the best out there for now. Lastly, throughout the years of scrapping, scrounging and piecing together his own armor Edric has developed a good understanding of the maintenance and modification of armor, at least in his own way, more jury-rigging than actually modifying during his younger days but now he enjoys it as not only a hobby and part of his job, but a task he can relax to as he works at it.

      PERSONALITY:

"Either you leave your mark on the Galaxy or it leaves it's mark on you...."

Edric is a hard man forged by nothing more than the desire to keep himself alive and the desire to see himself free. Now that he has that freedom, however, he was quick to discover that in a galaxy where all you knew was how to kill the other guy before he could kill you, your options for employment are limited. Edric is more than a little embittered by the hellish upbringing he was forced to endure and in his mind the only reason he works for the Hutts comes down to one word.... necessity. They can provide a living for someone like him and he is resentful enough to keep his dealings with the Hutts brief and professional, a manner that seems to satisfy both the Cartel and himself. His demeanor changes rather noticeably when on the job however, taking on the same hard, killer edge of someone killing for their life in the pits of an arena. In Edric's eyes, whether consciously or unconsciously, whoever his target is or whoever gets in his way during a mission is putting themselves between him and his future and no-one is more important to him than himself.

Despite all of this, Edric is not a wholly cruel man and possesses enough humanity to know that the same man who offers a filthy, begging child on the streets of Nar Shadda a credit as he passes and the same man who kills people he knows nothing about just for a place to lay his head at night shouldn't be able to be the same man. Yet here he is, as conflicted and indecisive as any man unlucky enough to walk a similar path to his own in life, all that's left is to see what he does with it.

P.S. Edric also has a strange fondness for animals.

    • Left to crippling debt at ten years old in Hutt Space by parents he would never care to remember beyond his dreams and nightmares Edric was quickly snapped up by one of the local Vigos of the Cartel when they heard of his heritage as an Epicanthix, a child from a warrior culture. From then on Edric was trained to be a killer, not an efficient silent, stone-faced assassin (that would come later) but a desperate child who was doing all he could, all he knew how to do, to just get the hell out of each day alive and a tiny bit less stable than he was before. There are a million stories of that arena, a thousand different times he barely scraped by with his life, a hundred different times he scrounged, begged and pleaded for enough credits to eat, a handful of times he had actually made progress towards his freedom, and only one life that mattered... his own.

After reaching what humans would call 'adulthood' and after years of cobbling together every credit he didn't have to spend on food or necessities Edric was able to buy a set of his very own blasters. Some would say the Force had something in store for Edric, others would call it simple luck, but whatever the reason his very next moment he set foot in that arena Edric was thrown to the wolves.... or so the fight organizers had planned. His opponent had been a Weequay of obvious skill and experience as a fighter, someone the Cartel was all but feeding Edric to in order to make a show of the Vigo's chosen fighter. The Vigo made a show of offering up a suit of armor and the promise of employment within the Cartel to 'whoever' won their bout. No-one had known Edric had purchased his own blasters and while he'd likely tell anyone who asked about that day it was a hell of a fight, the truth is... Edric just shot him.

That was it, plain, simple, messy and brutal. No heroic triumph of struggle and inner strength and determination, no bloated sense of pride and well-fought victory. The Weequay charged Edric brandishing a vibro-blade and before the Weequay's eyes could even widen in surprise Edric had drawn his blasters and shot him, once in the head and once in the chest. His opponent dropped like a Hutt out of orbit and whether the crowd had erupted in applause, laughter or both Edric didn't care. He was free.

Whatever sense of relief and elation Edric had felt in that moment are now but distant memories, hardly a spark of satisfaction coming from them now as they only alluded years of hard, soul-scarring work that eventually made him the man he is today and gave him the skills necessary to maybe make it on his own. Thus after finally purchasing his own rifle, a ship and buying out his contract to the Cartel, Edric can now choose who's jobs he takes, when he takes them and how he does them.... at least.... until he needs enough credits to eat again.

So I have some personal questions. I wonder why he has average strength when he has a background of a warrior culture and gladiatorial resume? And where he picked up his hacking skills? Also, though it's a bit nitpicky, I think the bio could benefit by detailing when his sniping was honed.

But anyway none of this is a rejectable offense so APPROVED!
