Not much is known of the enigmatic Mr. Veidt. Having recently settled down on Corellia, he has already started creating waves among Coronet City's rich and powerful elite. Intelligent, well spoken, and polite, he has quickly become the talk of the town. Having built his fortune in the Outter Rim, doing one thing or another depending on whom you ask, he is nonetheless very humble and modest. His talks of building hospitals and rehabilitating the city's seedier districts has earned him the respect of the idealists, while the lavish parties he throws have made him a favorite with the more materialistic.

While no one has been able to gather much information about his past, rumors have started spreading about him being orphaned at childhood and being raised by the family droid before heading off to the Outter Rim to multiply the family fortune. While none of this has actually emerged from his own mouth, reliable sources claim repeating the rumors in his presence and him not really refuting any of them. Supposedly he even dropped hints in support of some of them, a droid's name here, a planet visited while starting his first business venture, small things like that.

In the beginning I really liked it here, its quiet, peaceful, I thought I could finally relax here. I think I had earned that right. The people were a little different from what I was used to, but I got used to them. They really do believe that I am some brilliant entrepreneur who made a fortune doing something ingenious in the Outter Rim, retired early and came to Corellia to settle down. They see the suits, hear the accent, and they automatically believe it all to be true. If only they knew the truth, a common pick-pocket from the streets of Coronet who climbed up the criminal ladder almost to the top would probably not be welcomed as openly as I have been.

But soon I started to miss it all, the thrill of putting your life on the line, the satisfaction of seeing a plan perfectly executed, the high of a scheme reaching fruition. I knew I was going to slip. I needed to find something to do, something to keep me distracted. As it so happened, one of the rich fools I met at a party was fed up up of running the company his father left for him, a company that just happens to produce security systems. Old habits die hard and I started to think how handy it would be to have something like that in the pocket. So I talked him into selling it to me and going on a tour of the Galaxy and here I am, the new owner of Rendar Security Systems. Already my mind is full of possibilities, with the right moves I could build myself an empire here. I didn't really think coming back home would be this much fun.

The Black Sun was once the most powerful crime syndicate in the Galaxy. Over the centuries their power had waxed and waned, but they had always been a major player in the underworld. At the time of the emergence of the Sith the Black Sun was about to make a major push towards establishing themselves as the most influential syndicate of the time, but the emergence of the Sith changed everything. Patiently forged alliances, meticulously bought loyalties and carefully bribed allies suddenly vanished everywhere as the Sith took over the Empire. As the Galaxy plunged into war, an environment that would have greatly benefited an organization such as the Black Sun, the failure of their greatest play in centuries had left them in tatters. Their influence vanished, Vigos started dropping like flies, but even then there was hope that they would survive. Rumor has it that one of their own was responsible for the Black Sun's ultimate death, a Vigo handed over everything they had to the Hutts. Some say that he betrayed the Black Sun, some say the Hutts blackmailed him into doing it, yet others believe that it was a failed bid for the top job that forced him to ally with the Hutts. Regardless, the Black Sun died and the mysterious Vigo vanished. Whether the Hutts killed him, imprisoned him, or let him go away as part of some deal is unknown. But there are whispers that he is still alive, living in the Corellian system, hiding in plain sight and biding his time.

Personality
Despite his polite, cultured and charming appearance, he is a shrewd, intelligent and highly cunning man. Every decision he takes is a calculated move in a game of Dejarik, with everyone around him a piece on the board. Having seen both highs and lows in life, he knows exactly what he wants and does not want with life. He is well aware of his own strengths and weaknesses and knows where to draw the line. He observes the world around him with a detached perspective, taking the time to understand why things around him are unfolding in the manner that they are. He is very good at reading people and his ability to understand what drives them and their choices is what makes him a master manipulator. But despite being capable of making cruel moves to further his own cause, he is also capable of showing true empathy towards those he think deserve it, a judgement he believes himself to be more capable of making than most because he judges people on their character and not simply what position they occupy in the world.

Thanks man! I had made this a long time ago actually, never used it, tweaked it a little to fit in with the time skip. :D

The crime industry is really growing, no doubt the gears of the timeskip turning.

Perhaps I shall shake them up a bit, hm?

We should all make one big alliance of crime lords. We'd be unstoppable. :CScool

Not what I had in mind. An alliance is too foreign for the genre, an aspect that made me feel like the Retrade was missing an important element to the crime industries. Crime is too fickle for alliances. Mutual agreements, perhaps temporarily, but alliances? No. That path leads to being consumed by the bigger fish—in this case, the Hutt Cartel.

What better than rivalries and skirmishes? Manipulation, deception, greed. All undeniable themes of crime that are left unexplored.

But all powerful crime syndicates go corporate style sooner or later. Think of it like a corporation and our characters the Boards of Directors. Each responsible for his own part of the organization, essentially his own syndicate.

No being swallowed by other. groups. We're the ones who do the swallowing. XD

I think it could work. But thats just me. :CSly

These characters are all too individualistic. Corporate or not, they'd all turn on each other in their own way. IF you stayed in character that is.

What you're speaking of would possibly be a reincarnation of the Guild. Theoretically, yes, it could work. As entertaining? I'd challenge the entire organization myself for a good game, which I would find more preferable.

A loose alliance then, they all work in different spheres of influence, but with some single underlying common goal that they all want to achieve. Or maybe a overlord holds sway over them all, has dirt on them all and prevents them from going all kamikaze on each other.

Edit: i seem to have missed a couple of posts while I was typing this, ended up repeating things already mentioned.

I personally think that that kind of individualistic thinking would hold you back as a criminal organization and leader. Being able to unite in corporate like crime would to me be what separates corganized crime syndicates from criminal gangs (albeit huge and well organized ones.) XD

That said my flight is about to arrive and I have to board. But roll the idea around a bit. Some of you might be interested.

As for me Im off. Tata!

The bio section in the middle switches from third-person to first to third, which I found a little distracting. I really enjoyed the personality and charisma that you conveyed in the first-person section; maybe you'd consider finding some way to frame the other two segments in that format? Overall, I like the character very much. We simply must work out some sort of syndicate.

Thanks man! I'll see what I can do about those two segments, wanted to add a few details once the time skip info came out anyway.
