I'd have been more interested in seeing what happened to Christa and Michonne, largely because she's not a character in the comics who ever interested me.

I actually like her more in the show, to be honest.

In other news, I just fanboyed all over the Kingdom Hearts III gameplay trailer.

There's been a serious lack of quality Final Fantasy titles these past couple of years too. FFVII was also only ever released on Playstation and PC, with subsequent systems being able to play the original version. I don't follow your rationale at all. Just because SE makes a lot of games connected -very loosely- to FF means that a remake of their most-popular game of all time isn't big?

Yeah pretty much. The game is easily available on Steam and Playstation Store for those who want to play it. Tacking on a better look to the game doesn't change it to me.

If they make meaningful changes to the game or are able to extend the "exclusive first on PS4 and Vita" past just the (assumed) PC to perhaps the Microsoft or Nintendo consoles then I'd be more reluctant. As it stands they are just making a pretty version of an old game that almost everyone has played and is readily available on almost every Sony paltform and even the PC and I can't think of a time I've been staunchly in support of that.

This is based on pure conjecture. All we've been shown is a cinematic trailer with the word 'remake'. You're assumptions are needlessly negative. It is possible they may keep the game's play mechanics identical, but that is highly unlikely. It's 20 years old, gaming conventions have changed and evolved in the two decades it's taken to remake this game. I'm betting that their will be some significant additions/changes/tweaks to the original mechanics of the game (re-imagined FF7 battle system, hugely expanded areas, etc.).

I never said otherwise. I am hardly a games journalist and am basing it solely on all that we've seen so far. My opinion is negative for sure, not sure if it qualifies as "needlessly" though. If you're interested in the remake, do that, and on the flip side I can voice my reservations at the concept.

The smart move of course is to actually add something of meaning to the title aside from visuals. I think you also have to weigh in to that SE is playing a dangerous game with the remake. People like you and I of course would say it is a no brainer to revamp the game (regardless of if you liked the original or not), but SE has to play the balancing act and I'd gamble there are a decent amount of people in the fanbase who will burn the game if it changes absolutely anything mechanics wise.

I also Fanboyed all over the KH3 trailer. OML.

I'd be the first to say I am disinterested in Final Fantasy (I like a lot of the character designs and the fantasy side does embrace more whimsy than other titles which I give the series credit) and even though I think KH is interesting I can't get into it.

In regards to the actual KH III showing? I actually really enjoyed some of the special move things that Sora initiated. Like the tea cup ride and train. Just felt really cool and delightful.

Fair enough. I really like seeing all the Dinsey properties together and even interacting with the Final Fantasy folks. Like you said though it just never clicked with me and I haven't owned any Sony consoles since the original Playstation and the summer I owned a PS3, so I've never been able to get a large hands on with the titles. Since KH has shown they will divert from the norm (Tron) I'd like to see some Marvel and Disney nods, that'd get me invested for sure, but I realize where that'd be a bit much.

OHS lol. Well, I personally think a Death Star level is perfectly within the realm of possibility. They do have a 'minigame' involving Space travel to get to the new worlds, so Im holding out for a Death Star space battle level. The creator immediately expressed interest in putting Star Wars in KH the moment Disney purchased it.

Apparently they do plan on making some changes to the actual game and updating parts of the combat system.

The total war teaser... what a joke... worst teaser I've seen in forever.

That's because total war has become a total joke. They come out too often, are too bugy, and have few changes in mechanics. Basically since Rome II it's been nothing but a re-skin with a few changes. Honestly I enjoy playing Empire as much as Attila; games shouldn't just be different they should be better. End Rant.

Amen. I just picked up all the dlcs for two total war games, they cost me a ton, even on sale. While I understand that some DLCs are deserving of the price, namely when they make significant alterations to the base game, but those are more expansions than DLCs...

Sorta like with Crusader Kings II. The expansions can go for like 8 to 14 dollars depending on content, while most other DLC is cosmetic skin packs that are like 1 to 2. I have them all just because I felt like being a completionist, but I doubt I'll be able to get the recently announced expansion regarding the Mongols, as it increases the map size and my laptop can hardly handle the game as is.

Pro-tip. You can pirate DLC and install it on a legit game from Steam. They don't have a system in place to detect pirated DLC because it is treated in the same way as user-mods. I have, sadly, resorted to this following Paradox Interactive's abysmal penny-and-dime DLC model became insufferable. For those unfamiliar with PI, their games are amazing but are hampered by absolutely ridiculous DLC (Music packs, character portrait packs, and unit packs, none of which actually change the gameplay that are ridiculously simple). Crusader Kings 2's has ~$200 worth of DLC and the vast majority of it doesn't change or meaningfully add to the gameplay AT ALL.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. They release on a 3-4 year timeline, I don't see how that's too often, and one of the biggest criticisms of Rome II was the change in mechanics. Following the negative fan-reaction to Rome II they went back into development and released the Empire Edition as free DLC which fixed many of the things wrong with the initial game. And 'since Rome II'? So the one game they released after Rome II? Which was to Rome II as Napoleon was to Empire. Your final point is nonsensical. You enjoyed Empire as much as Attila and I enjoyed Napoleon more than any Total War game ever. That does not mean that Shogun 2 (my second favorite Total War game ever), Rome II and Attila are bad games or are worse. I much prefer the centralized management system that Rome II implemented over the older system; if you played as the British in Empire a goodly part of each turn was roaming the camera across your massive holdings looking for upgrades and it was incredibly easy to simply miss something. That's not fun. Games need to change to succeed and the changes will not appeal to everyone.

Train simulator and Dead Or Alive DLC are some of the worst I've seen too.
