Name: Durglosk
Biology: The average adult Durgolosk is between fifteen and tenty feet tall. The largest discovered was forty feet tall. Working our way up, the Durgolosk stands on six legs, each with three clawed toes, individually jointed to aid it in grabbing things on the ground. The six legs move up into an independent joint, then to one complex joint, linking them together. Above that is the Durgolosk's torso, which houses all of it's organs. The durgolosk is also capable of twisting its body a full 360 degrees. The Durgolosk's arms are significantly shorter in proportion to the rest of it's body, however, the long tentacles that protrude from them make up for any detriments this might have had for the Durgolosk as a species. These tentacle are also tipped with a paralytic slime that is secreted through a gland found in the base of its arms for each respective tentacle. If this slime get on one's skin, the musculature of the victims essentially locks up as if it were shocked, and is rendered helpless. The tentacle titself sharpens to a point and is able to punch through rock. Their heads are large, with a thick skull casing, though it thins out toward the back, creating a weak spot behind its back two eyes. The
Breeding: The Durgolosks reproduce sexually, laying eggs. While most Durgolosk lay only one egg, some more fertile females may lay two.
Strengths:
Six eyes, giving it almost full coverage of its surroundings, except for a blind spot behind and above.
Six legs, allowing it to move quickly through the marshes of Barab I
'Poison' -tipped tentacles, capable of paralyzing and grabbing prey
Several rows of nasty teeth for rending flesh
Able to turn a full 360 degrees
Impeccable eyesight
Weaknesses:
A blind spot above and behind, leaving it open for attack, however the ability to twist its torso, makes up for this to some degree. If one is fast enough, they can exploit this blind spot.
Primarily nocturnal
Spends most of it's day sleeping, leaving it vulnerable to sneak attacks, or hunters armed with long range firearms.
Solitary animals from birth to death
Diet: Carnivore. When a Durgolosk is not sleeping, it is feasting on virtually anything smaller than itself.
Behavior/Temperament: Durgolosks are largely solitary hunters, showing little interest in others of the same species. For a large predator, it is surprisingly not very territorial and is almost always on the move, whenever it is not resting or hunting. This nomadic lifetyle has caused many a conflict with the native Barabel that inhabit Barab I. While they show little interest in settlemets of Barael, ones out hunting in small parties or hunting solo will be openly attacked if they cross paths. This does not happen often as Durgolosks are largely nocturnal and elect to stay out of the harsh sun during the day. Durgolosk also guard their egg(s) until they hatch and allow the young to get on their feet before abandoning them to continue hunting.
Communication: Aside from adversarial growls and guttural barking sounds, there are no other recorded sounds. Some speculate they make a low coo to their young after they hatch but there are no living witnesses to this.
Culture: Durgolosk ave no culture to speak of.
History: Apart from being a prize for Barabel hunters and warriors, and the apex predator of the Barab I wild.
Planet: Found solely on Barab I.
Technology: No technology.
Intent: Fleshing out a lesser known canon Non-sentient. Roleplayers would use this animal for roleplays on Barab I, as they are one of the primary predator second only to the Barabel natives.
