Dryke-480
Thread Prefix: Fanon.
Name: Dryke-480
Coordinates: V-12
Hyperlane: N/A
Climate: Dryke-480 suffers from frequent windstorms that occur in 'hotspots' around the planet. These storms are typically strongest in the denser parts of the gas giant and commonly reach speeds of 2700 kilometers per hour. Most hydrogen and helium-3 that's mined is done so from the outermost atmosphere for safety reasons. Dryke-480 is also extremely cold, the average temperature year round being 258 kelvin.
Terrain: Being a gas giant there is none. From space the planet's orange and beige surface seems to be constantly moving if observed, this is due to the constant windstorms going on in the 'hotspots'.
Rotation: 13.8 hour days
Inhabitants: None, the space station orbiting Dryke-480 however holds a population of around 330. The station is mostly comprised of humans with a few other humanoids here and there.
Resources: Helium-3, Hydrogen, and Methane from the atmosphere.
Government: The station orbiting Dryke-480 is solely funded by the Desijilic's, however the planet itself has no claim. The Desijilics pay the people that work there as well as send routine maintenance crews out to ensure everything is stable.
Culture: N/A
Technology: Galactic baseline. Since no one actually lives on Dryke-480 (for obvious reasons) everyone who works in the atmosphere or on station are the only people present.
Satellites: Dryke-480 has two satellites, the Desijilic funded space station and a dense, irradiated (20 times more powerful than Earth's Van Allen belts) asteroid belt that's loaded with useful metals. The asteroid belt contains large quantities of Zersium, Durite, and Nickel. The asteroid belt was a result of Dryke-480's two moons colliding a long time ago, the planets strong gravity caused the chunks to form an asteroid belt rather than flying off all over space.
History: Information and coordinates of the recently discovered Dryke-480 were sold to Nor'baal Desijilic for a substantial yet reasonable amount of credits several years ago. Since then a space station had been built and mining operations on both Dryke-480 and it's asteroid belt had begun. The space station is outfitted with a metal refinery and everything else the station needs to be self sufficient (hydroponics, cargo bay, recreation rooms, hangar, crew quarters, etc.). The station is powered with the reliable and non radioactive Helium-3 supplied by the planet while the Hydrogen, Methane, and metals from the asteroid are stored away in the large cargo hold until someone is sent to retrieve them for sale throughout the galaxy. A small brig is located at the highest point of the station, There they keep prisoners frozen in Carbonite for long term storage. The station makes use of ships with scoopers and Aerostats in the atmosphere to collect the needed gasses while drills and manual labor are used to mine out the hundreds of asteroids. Being located off the grid where there's no law the station has light defenses consisting of interior cameras, interior blast doors, and 5 twin light laser cannons meant for defense from shuttles and fighters. Nor'baal typically keeps at least 30 armed enforcers aboard the station to keep the peace.
Additional Planet Information:
Radius: 9000 km
Mass: 1.34 x 1025 kg
Gravity: 13.67 m/s2
Axis Tilt: 11.46 °
Intent: To create an additional source of income for the Desijilics as well as open up roleplay opportunities between them and other factions. I also wanted to make a type of gas giant that was actually used other than Bespin as most other Gas Giants aren't really used for purposes other than flavor text. Dryke-480 offers large amounts of Helium-3 which could be used as a stable, non-radioactive form of power for most engines/generators. With the gas giant being right there the station would never have to worry about power and the excess could be transported off and sold for a cheaper price than anywhere else in the galaxy while still allowing the Desijilics to make profit. Considering the station has a brig meant for holding prisoners in Carbonite the Desijilics could also use this place for the purpose of holding high priority prisoners or even as an off grid slave trading facility with the mining operations being a cover up.
