THEME
Space was dark, it was never ending and terrify. For that reason Koil liked racing through the void. The forces of the recon star fighter put on his body at times was exhilarating. Before him was a jade jewel, Ithor. The flora covered planet was breathtaking. The man knew it was probably even better on the surface. It would be his first time, later today, setting foot on the planet. Then again he was not sure if landing on a herd city that was hovering above the surface technically counted. But there was other business to be dealt with first.

His ship, his Klaw, was black on black. Its advanced scanners were scanning for any sign of nearby contacts. His cohort for this job, Tagal Saxon, was going to be doing the 'heavy lifting' while Silent Badger would be the eyes and ears. They had some cargo to place around high orbit of the planet. Actually it was quite a few. Koil had looked at the hangar of the ship. There were numerous devices that were roughly the size of a person.

Inside the cockpit the War Councilor flipped over to the secure communication channel with Tagal. The Mandalorian kept an eye on the scanners. His ship was circling the area at roughly seventy percent it's maximum speed. It was practically a cruise by the Echani's standards. The red plate of the mandalorian's Beviinir armor was not the usual black of his beskar'gam but being inside a low profile vessel already meant he did not need to wear scatterweave on his piloting gear.

The galleon would need to have a smaller ship distribute the signal producing devices in a specific orbit over the planet. There were going to be a few other spots they would probably want to place them. It wouldd take time and a lot of the items but that was also why Koil and a crew of people had been work shopping the contraptions. It was Silent Badger's design and idea in the first place. Thankfully the galleon had a carrying capacity of three hundred which allowed no shortage of the devices.

Tagal had been to Ithor before.

It was a boring place to live but he had lived there for a few short months immediately after the death of his first family. The peace and serenity had been needed and set him on the path to become the man he was today. Still, it was a place he never thought he would actually return to so it was rather surprising that his life had led him back here even briefly. It was like the Galaxy liked it's patterns or something.

And he was back with company.

"Ease off the thrusters." he commanded his bridge staff, "Scanners stay active. Prepare the cargo bay."

As the Galleon simply glided through the inky blackness of space, Tagal himself noticed that the com line with Koil was open. As expected of someone called 'Silent Badger', the line was open... but dead quiet. It was actually both amusing and kind of annoying if he was honest. He coughed quietly inside of his helmet.

"Do you just leave the com line open and stay silent just to earn your nickname?" he asked Koil with a faint smirk, "Or are you waiting for the right time to say something?"

As the Galleon moved one of the bridge staff confirmed they were ready and Tagal gave the nod. The cargo hold began to drop out the load they had been hauling for so long - it was good to almost feel the ship getting lighter again.

A smile creased the man's fair face underneath his helmet. For a moment he wondered if he should just not answer him at all just to mess with him. Koil had earned the name Silent Badger not because he had intended to build the reputation he had earned. He just spoke when he needed to and preferred actions over words. Though now with his reputation he wondered if it would be funny to just give Tagal dead air as an answer for the heck of it.

"I prefer to fly hands free." The truth of the matter was Koil did not like turning a commlink on and off. It was an extra action that was better left removed to keep the already complicated task of operating a high performance vehicle. There was enough going in every day activity that the War Councilor like minimizing the inefficient. "I'm not big on small talk." He added at the end.

The man banked his ship to come back around after venturing out at the distance of the Galleon's perimeter. Anybody looking at the two ships would probably see a heavy freighter or maybe a corvette of some kind with a starfighter running exercises. The devices that were being placed had an activatable trigger based on intra-system communication. The would just need to be somewhere within high orbit of the planet to activate them when they wanted to so long as they were not a hundred meters under the surface of the planet or something similar.

"I'm not going to lie..."

Tagal smirked a little bit wider as he adjusted the course of the Galleon in line with the projections they had already calculated. They wanted to get as much area covered with as little fuel consumption as necessary after all - fuel was expensive these days and they had places to be.

"But I seriously thought you weren't going to respond there just to mess with me."

In the end he was glad Koil had actually spoken. Tagal was a paranoid man by nature and from experience so he knew it was in his best interest to check in with Koil at least so his own paranoia didn't run away with himself. He glanced back at the readings as another of the devices was dropped.

"25% completion." he reported to his ally, "Gotta ask though; where did you get that ship? I've never seen one like it before."

The droid inside the heavily modified Bitol provided regular data information for Koil. For now he was letting the data collection suite run. If this was going to go without a hitch then it would be a tool to have a record of it. Naturally he would scrub any incriminating details later. The ship was meant for reconoitering and data collection. The starfighter was the fastest vessel in the galaxy as a matter of fact. At its base it could go a maximum of one hundred and twenty five megalights but with upgrades from Koil it was even faster.

"I earned it..." It was true. The man had gone all the way to Tiss'sharl and bought the high performance vessel from the reptilian owned company. They were more or less the cost of a single corvette so it was no surprise that Tagal had not seen many of them. They were not meant to be seen in the first place. "...I doubt there is one like it in the galaxy. But it helps when you know a guy with connections." It was not boasting. There was no ship like his own. The closest thing was probably Drace Solus's Bitol but it had been some time since the two had flown together.

"What about your ship. Why do you fly around in such a big and noticeable hunk of ship like that?" If Tagal had not noticed yet, Koil liked to keep a low profile most of the time.

He earned it.

Well... if that wasn't a loaded answer coming from a Mandalorian then Tagal wasn't sure what was. As far as a Mandalorian was concerned, Koil could have earned that by working in a factory for forty years making weapons or because he managed to steal or because he stabbed someone who owned one and walked off with the keys.

Theirs was a strange culture sometimes.

"And when your guy knows a guy who knows a guy who has access to some upgrades." he agreed with a smirk, "I get that."

Then came the attacks on his galleon!

"Woah easy there yah badger shite!" he joked with a laugh, "No bad mouthing a man's ship. That's just bad manners! But in answer to your question...? Because I'm mostly a legit businessman."

Mostly.

50% of cargo dropped.

He knew a guy. But it was more the fact that the guy could get access past things by pure skill rather than having connections with other people. When Tagal got defensive that made the Mandalorian crack a smile. "What kind of reputation do I have that makes you think I have good manners?" He quipped back.

From his cockpit the Silent Badger stared over at the Galleon. He knew enough about ships and current models to know there was an alternative version of the galleon that was a bulk freighter and in many respects is what he would think as more profitable to a legit businessman. But Tagal could not hide the fact that there was more to him than he may want others to think. But Koil did not press the issue.

His eyes drifted over the beautiful planet beneath them. It filled most of the view for him. Just a few centimeters away there was nothing but expansive nothingness. Yet it still felt more comfortable than a lot of alternative situations. Taking a deep breath he sighed before banking once again, completing another sweep of his patrol.

Well that was true - he knew of Koil's reputation.

"What reputation?" he smirked back across the com line, "Gotta speak up to get a reputation as anything but a pre-pubescent boy who doesn't wanna speak in case his voice breaks."

Yeah he was talking a lot of shite to a member of the Mandalorian war council but that was kind of just how Mandalorians were when they were amongst themselves. If combat ensued he would defer to Koil and be downright respectful in almost every way possible - but right up until that point he was going to act like the arsehole uncle.

He checked the cargo.

"25% remaining." he confirmed for Koil, "Preparing our way out of her now while we move for the last of it to get itself out of my hold."

He paused before adding.

"If you need to know a guy to make you some gear then you know me by the way." he admitted with a shrug, "I'm a smith."

Koil was not a person of ego. He did not let his pride get in the way. In fact he usually thought less of himself than what most other people did. So when people talked smack it was easy for him to not take personally. "You sound like the type of guy who barks more than he bites." He shot back. The Silent Badger was a man of action rather than words.

Recalibrating his scanners he made sure they were adapting to his maneuvers. The droid scrolled some information on the nearby screen in binary for easy translation. Out of boredom he came back close to Tagal's ship and skimmed along the edge at what Koil considered a pleasant cruise before circling around where the devices had been placed around. He then told his droid to begin calculating hyperspace coordinates. There was going to be a few trips in and out of this system.

"A smith? Hmm, I might take you up on that. The same to you if you want any tattoos. I've got a parlor on Concord Dawn, Mesh'la Pel'gam"

Tagal chuckled at Koil's response even as he keyed in the last command and the last of the cargo was put into position. He nodded to the bridge crew, who nodded back that they were ready to move on. He clicked his tongue in amusement.

"I don't need to bite - I make a living off of giving people better teeth." he joked back, "Doing just fine dealing death through the office building."

Honestly, the arms dealers of the Galaxy were the ones with the highest kill counts and BiT filled a niche in that market. Hell, some of his own inventions were in that market.

He got a thumbs up from the bridge crew.

"Might take you up on the opportunity for some ink though." he admitted with a small frown, "I'll have to think about what I want but I'll hit you up - I'm ready to leave if you are man."

He had heard of the saying 'don't bite the hand that feeds you' but maybe a better one was 'don't bite the dentist that takes care of your teeth'. Maybe sometime in the future he would use that. Giving Tagal the props for the saying he deserved he chuckled over the open communication link.

Koil had done a small bit of arms dealing. It was private, small time, unofficial and really not something that clicked for him. But at least he had been passable at it. Burkhart, that bootlegger, had probably done more. Silent Badger had only ever done it after having a surplus of weapons and gear from all the times he had looted on the battle field. Crates and crates of mediocre weapons by his standards but military grade hardware by everyone elses. It was pragmatic to sell rather than let it either collect dust or just throw away.

"Right behind you." He responded at the prompt to depart. As the last bit of coordinates were put in he double checked the trigger. The signal was strong but he did not activate it. For now the devices just looked like a bunch of debris in space if anyone came close. It would not be until they were activated that anybody would really see them on scanners but they were not meant to do any damage. The Galleon ship that Tagal rode in and the Bitol Koil was inside were both limited with a class six hyperdrive but that just meant that wherever they went they were coming in and out of it at the same time. In a few moments the stars stretched before them and they were back in hyperspace.
