DESCRIPTION
The Droid Deflector Screen Generator is manufactured by the Colicoid Creation Nest, the same makers of the droideka class droids, that were known for the dual twin blaster cannons and being able to project their own shields. This device, a plastoid-cased attachment, is attached and installed onto to droids, although not all of them. When properly installed, this device allows the droid to project it's own deflector screen, incasing the droid a blue bubble that protects against energy/plasma based attacks. The shield can not block solid objects from going inside (slugs, grenades, missiles, people .etc).
The shields projected from this device are not as good as the droidekas though, as this shield projector is only able to provide protection against one medium-strength blaster shot (or equivalent) or two light damage-strength shots. One heavy-strength shot would have the impact of destroying the shield and having some damage bleed through the shield as well onto the droid itself. After the shield is broken or having received damage, the shield would refresh after four consecutive posting rounds out of combat (which includes attacking or being attacked, and any of the above would reset the refresh progress)
The Colicoid Creation Nest produced this upgrade during the late stages of the Clone Wars, after seeing the relative success of the Droidekas with their shields. These wouldn't be as strong, but they would still prove to be useful although it was too late to deploy these to the front lines. The Clone Wars have ended and the Colicoid Creation Nest shut down it's operations after the Empire was formed and it's leaders went into hiding. After the Empire's downfall, the Colicoid Creation Nest became active again and this upgrade emerged on the market after over a hundred years after it's creation. Although a down-grade, the deflector screen upgrade is still very useful.
LEGALITY
LegalINTENT
To provide the site with some droid upgrades, this would be a first among few I plan on adding. This adds a defensive option to droids, mainly droid player characters. Can help with the survivability of droids without being overpowered and has sufficient restrictions to keep in check.RESTRICTIONS
Droids that have the 'Restricted' prefix in it's tech profile can not be upgraded with this tech. Also not usable in conjunction with any other droid upgrade. Not usable with droids that are using custom armor profiles.
