"My name is Dr. Zeb Varon, call me what you like, I am only 32 years old. People frequently exhaust the question: 'How does someone so young find himself in such a high position of power?' The answer given most frequently is this: 'I have found in life that it is not what you know, it is in fact, who you know.'"
This was of course a lie. Dr. Varon was The Chairman of Phoenix Medical, because not only was he a great Doctor, and Bio-Engineer, but he also knew his way around Cybernetics. In school, Zeb had below average grades in his classes, but scored highest on his exams. That is how they noticed him, they of course being The Phoenix Corporation. Zeb was approached by Sir Johann Winslow, who asked him if he knew what he wanted to do with his life. Zeb replied:"I'm not sure, but it needs to be challenging."
As soon as these words came out of his mouth, Johann knew he had found the man, he was looking for. He and Zeb met again, a few weeks later, this time a man by the name a Jacob Roseberg was with them. Both men asked him many questions about his past life and his ambitions. Zeb must have done something right, a few days later he was offered a job as The Chairman of Phoenix Medical. Zeb took this position with honor.
