Description:
Similar to the ancient Nightstinger, the Darkblaster is an incredibly rare and powerful blaster rifle that can only be purchased on the invisible market. Much like its predecessor, it has become a legend, with its capabilities and its very existence debated the galaxy over.
- A massive amount of energy and blaster gas is consumed when the weapon is fired. As a result, ammunition capacity is reduced substantially.
- The blaster bolts are invisible, but the weapon can still be heard firing.
- Distance and a sound dampening field will provide a degree of suppression, but complete silence is not possible.
- The weapon has considerable recoil.
- The bipod doubles as a hand guard when retracted.
- It sacrifices power for range. As a result, it is comparable to a heavy blaster pistol in terms of damage.
- A rapid firing rate could damage the barrel and internal components.
- Replacement cartridges are a rare find and utilize specially refined sig gas. As a result, they can be increasingly expensive.
- A modular attachment point on top of the weapon can accommodate a variety of long-range optics.
- Special redirection crystals allow the operator to frame a target or group for an attack. They cost around 5,000 credits.
- The weapon can be set to overload, resulting in its complete destruction. This feature is useful if capture or discovery are imminent and leaves nothing but molten slag behind.
- The weapon can operate effectively for decades and requires very little maintenance, but it is not suited to harsh environments or battlefield conditions. This is a weapon that is usually cased up until the point the operator is in position and ready to fire. In other words, it doesn't bounce.
