A losing battle for us, as always :(

The fact is roleplaying skills matter little if your character's abilities are downplayed while your oppenant's are overstated. Simply because you can just get the shit powerplayed out of you, or people will declare "There is NO WAY that your character could even fight mine!"
[/b]

Then make your character stronger, make your opponent FEEL like you're some unbeatable Sith Lord. Dont just assume he is.

If you made a character the same level as sabre.

You would lose
I would lose
sin would lose
Bac would lose

If you made a character of sin's level and dueled him.

You would lose
I would probbaly lose
etc etc

You get the picture...It's ability...If sabre made that character and was a medium rp'er...We would of told him where to shove it..But he isn't medium rp'er and neither is sin.

I'm not just saying it, I AM better than everyone else.

Arrogance 101. Everyone is beatable.

Anyway, I agree with Matt, Celestia, Sabre, Sin, etc. It's your RP skills. If you can't make your opponent think that you're strong through your writing then you can't win.

First of all, I would like to thank matt for considering me a high ranking character. I wasnt aware I was one.

Second of all, Cyril, you are somewhat right, but also somewhat wrong.

If you have been on the site with the same character, and your rp skills are good, and you have had this character for a long time, you have the distinct right to make your character stronger in incraments, as long as you can support it with good rp skill. You dont want someone who is a horrible rper, and comes on alot, to get stronger just because he has been here longer.

But if you are an ok rper, you should be constantly making your character stronger, so that you can handle the better rpers, who have been with their characters for a shorter time.

Who..I do? who was a jedi padawan last week

Or dex does? who was a jedi knight a month ago

Or let's look at the fact that cyril is a jedi master

and your a sith lord.

and kurt is another example...Hasn't been here to long but was grandmaster of the jedi,

I had to work to become Grandmaster of the Order, I started off as a Knight though because we needed more active members who could actually do something. He then got stronger and stronger, and moved over to the Sith side. Hes like 34 or something now and on the top of his game, hes the longest living character I've ever used consectutively.

Also, Sabre is right, if you think you can run with the big dogs, run with the big dogs. make a strong character, and defeat them. I would offer myself as a judge for this battle in case it gets out of hand, since I am not biased towards anyone in particular. It will be a fair fight.

You all seem oblivious to the fact that "writing skills" is irrelevant. Is somebody says OOC that you cannot even come close to challenging their character, that is another thing entirely. Especially if said statement is supported by staff and other members.

LOL.

"spike turns on lightsaber. spike stabs lightsaber towards big bad sithy lord."

Yeah, Spike's really going to win that battle!

Thats proberly one of the strangest things I'vve ever heard

How many bloody examples do you need reven.

The argriculterist (sp) had a battle with sabre and held his own.

Kurt would hold his own.

Both are very good writer's.

and did not start with uber powerful character's

they worked there way up on writing skill's.

You took it out of context. Somebody said you need to use your writing skills to make yourself look more powerful then the other guy.

hence I offered myself as a judge ,Ferrus. I agree that at Times the staff maybe biased towards certain duelists. But someone running their mouth OOC should not stop you from trying to beat their ass in character, if your skills are up to take them on. it would be even better if you beat after running their mouth.

Yes, they are bias. And when it is agreed that your character can't beat somebody elses character your roleplaying skills don't matter one bit.

I said that and it's completely true. You have to make your opponent feel like you're stronger than him, or the duel will never end.

I'll admit the angle I went at this was a bit off. I am not whining in the least bit. And if you think I'm afraid of a fight I am willing to take any challenge. Seriously, quit acting like I'm crying wolf right now, because I'm not.

And thanks Agriculturist, what you said was exactly what I meant :4: .
