Personality
De’vad’s youthfulness often makes him seem quite harmless at first to those who don’t know him but his presence is quite an uplifting one for those he fights alongside. He has experience well beyond his years and it would be foolish to treat him otherwise. Many perceive De’vad as being cold, menacing and slightly unapproachable due to his somewhat gruff and serious manner. Typically very blunt in expressing his opinions and thoughts he has no problem telling people what he thinks when he’s thinking it.
De’vad received a rather traditional upbringing and has kept those values quite close at heart throughout his life. He lives for battle; in addition De’vad lives his life seeking honour which he believes can only be achieved through conflict with a worthy foe. Ambitious, disciplined, loyal and at times aggressive De’vad tends to be an advocate of combat before diplomacy.
Despite the perception that he is unapproachable those who are brave enough to do so will often find that while he is a Mandalorian of considerable stature within his clan he is not devoid of emotions and can prove to be quite good company when the mood suits him. As a proud Mandalorian he is often willing and gets enjoyment from sharing stories of his role in various conflicts, taking pride in tales of his success. His interest in stories often extended to others and enjoyed listening to them just as much as he does telling them.
De’vad leads with strict discipline in addition to providing those under him with fairly brutal training regimes. He maintains a strong focus on honor and loyalty both on and off the battlefield and often hides his own feelings behind a calm and collected demeanor when leading men and women on the front line. When things don’t unfold according to plan his experience enables him to adapt to new circumstances and he has become a renowned strategist among his people. Due to De’vad’s adherence to the Mandalorian way those under his command respected him implicitly. They will often display a willingness to die rather than face the shame of their failures, and obey his orders without question.
De’vad has the upmost respect for those above him in the hierarchy and would look to ascend past his current station through merit alone rather than challenging for it. He is however always impressed by a show of force and feels no anger or regret if he is bested by a more proficient foe. To those outside the clans of the Mandalore he maintains a very professional stance and shows zero fear when confronting potential adversaries. For those he kills in the line of duty his special forces training has taught him to be slightly more detached from killing people and to see it as taking a life, to save a life rather than totally about glory.
Overall De’vad is a proven soldier who demands respect. He displays all the qualities of a good Mandalorian and is loyal to those he works with.
Appearance
The man under the armour is a fairly youthful but slightly rugged looking one. De’vad has short cropped, manageable dark hair and a fairly short dark beard. His build is muscular yet lean and toned rather than bulky. This helps him maintain his dexterity while not struggling to carry around his armour. De’vad is also not intimidatingly tall and stands at a shorter than average five foot ten inches.
De’vad moves with careful and deliberate precisions often keeping quite an expressionless face and carries an air of almost contagious confidence about him that is very uncommon in someone his age. This is likely due to his strong upbringing which he attributes totally to him being lucky enough to have traditional Mandalorian parentage.
The Story
Born on Mandalore in 1022 BBY into the famous and renowned Clan Kryze De’vad was the younger of two siblings. His family was very traditional in their views and from the moment De’vad could speak they began teaching him not only the language of their people, but their beliefs, code and what it meant to be Mandalorian. While De’vad and his family moved around fairly often his parents would not let him and his sister forget their roots His parents would tell him stories of the clan, their personal achievements and battles they had fought alongside the other Mandalorian clans. When De’vad got to the age of five his father began teaching him the basics of survival and hand to hand combat. It was nothing too tricky at first, just simple things such as tying different knots, fishing and throwing simple punching combinations. Before long though they moved onto more advanced techniques in martial arts such as incorporating kicks, sweeps and throws into a fight. De’vad was a quick learner and a naturally talented fighter. It wasn’t just his strength or speed that played a role in his abilities however but his keen eye for seeing openings in combat and having the courage to exploit that weakness.
At the age of seven he developed a large interest in technology and would pull apart anything he could get his hands on to find out how it worked. This was somewhat due to him still being young and inquisitive but all started when he was helping strip, clean and re-assemble his parents’ weaponry in their ships onboard armory. His intrigue only grew as he did and he became quite tech savvy in general. His main interests tended to be weaponry and droids but he was a dab hand at pretty much anything by the age of twelve. He’d also been receiving military teachings that would serve him and other Mandalorians well on the battlefield should he ever be called upon. Much like technology he enjoyed the intricacy that came with military tactics and strategy. He even began playing games such as Dejarik and Pazaak to improve his thinking skills.
On the morning of De’vad’s thirteenth birthday he was woken up bright and early by his parents. It was time for him to start his coming of age trials known as the verd’gotan. He was tasked with showing all that he knew and had learnt from his military knowledge to his combat proficiency and his survival skills. It would be a few weeks before he returned home a man but his training had prepared him well for what he faced and he, much like his sister had breezed all challenges that came his way. He was now considered an adult and was treated as an equal among his people, while he received more respect from the older more experienced members of his clan he also more responsibility and used his technological knowhow to help his community in any way he could. He also specialized in demolitions something that he could transfer his current skillset to without much extra learning being required.
Time passed and everything had been going fine, De’vad had been training harder and harder in recent months to impress a young lady he had begun talking to. She was quite beautiful with long flowing dark ginger hair. She was also an incredibly good fighter; her and De’vad would often practice together spending many hours of the day in the dueling circle. It was also fairly informative as unlike the Teräs Käsi that De’vad was taught she had been instructed in K’thri and the two of them used one another to learn each other’s styles and adapt it into their own arsenal. Sadly their happiness would be short lived as a rival clan attacked the small camp while De’vad was away. They struck in the dead of night, killing many before they faced retaliation. Upon his return he found his family in their beds with their throats slit. They had been killed while they were asleep, without honour or dignity. Having already lost his parents he feared the worst and rushed to find his sweetheart. He found her in the small medical center they had in their camp, the life fading from her. She explained that she was sorry she didn’t reach his family in time and as her last breaths left her lips she spoke the names of the four Mandalorians who killed his family. De’vad had little time to mourn, he swore to reclaim his families’ honour and hunt those who had killed them so horrifically.
Taking his families ship he began his pursuit of those responsible, the ship brought back to many memories however and during a stop off on Tatooine he traded it with another pilot for their ship. While he was there he also purchased a wolf from a salesman. He had not planned to get a pet but when he saw the small pup far from home, without its family or pack he saw much of himself. He related to the animals situation and it wasn’t an expensive purchase. The pup became known as Ghost and wasn’t a pup for very long. De’vad and Ghost developed a strong bond on their travels to multiple planets the likes of which included Hutta, Nar Shaddaa and Dxun. It was a turn of fate that the trail eventually led back to De’vad’s home planet of Mandalore where he found the head of the clan and subsequently took his life. De’vad had re-claimed his families honor and in his eyes they could be at peace.
Now aged eighteen De’vad was finally ready to perform his duty to his people through military service. His training and his time utilizing skills in tracking/hunting to find his families killers made him a perfect match for the Special Forces. Ghost accompanied him on any and all operations that De’vad took on, aiding with the hunting of food and protecting camps while De’vad and his comrades slept. There weren’t too many large scale battles that occurred during De’vad’s time in the Mandalorian Special Forces however he saw his fair share of combat and learned plenty of vital skills that would serve him well in the future. His service led him to sniper school where he furthered his abilities as well as earning his nickname schoolboy.
By the time he was ready to leave the forces four years later, he was offered the role of an instructor at the more recently developed training center for the Border Alliance. While many years ago he would have jumped at the chance, he had began to see Mandalore's old ways and the ways he had been brought up with, slipping away. De’vad commissioned the creation of a set of armour, it was very traditional and armour was colored to represent his lost loved ones as well as his commitment to the Mandalorian ways.
Now aged twenty two, he goes in search of others like him, mandalorians true to the name, in the hopes that he might once again restore that sense of family he had lost on that fateful day, long past.
To be continued…
Skills & Abilities
De’vad is at the peak of his physical abilities. Not only was he selected for the Mandalorian Special Forces division he was also selected for Sniper School where he faced challenges that broke anyone who wasn’t the best of the best. De’vad strikes an almost perfect balance between power and agility, while not being overpoweringly strong he has good muscular strength endurance. De’vad’s focus is more on functional strength rather than strength developed purely through lifting weight.
Skilled in the martial arts of K’thri and Teras Kasi De’vad is equally as deadly in hand to hand as he is with a form of weapon and in some situations prefers to fight with his hands instead. His love of hand to hand combat has seen him spend a lot of time in dueling circles perfecting his technique or tutoring others with his know how.
A keen player of Dejarik he likes to fight intelligently and not be completely about brute strength however that does not extend to the dishonorable defeating or killing of an opponent. In that sense while luring an enemy into a trap is acceptable shooting someone who is unarmed or can’t defend themselves is certainly not.
De’vad uses somewhat unconventional weaponry from time to time using equipment such as bows, darts, boot blades and adhesive flammables. When selecting his load out he often picks it depending on the opponents he may face and while a Jedi may require a shield another bounty hunter might only require a blaster.

A proud owner of a modified patrol ship he has stripped it down considerably and utilized the limited space within the ship as efficient storage space. Here he keeps a small, tidy weapons compartment as well as his bes’uliik war droid. The remaining space he uses for a small cell and a sleeping area for him and Ghost.
De’vad’s pride and joy is his large snow white wolf standing at over five foot tall he is a menacing beast. His appearance does not reflect his personality though and while he received military training he is a loving and affectionate animal. When on operations or hunting bounties Ghost will often help De’vad by hunting for food or protecting the camp while people sleep. De’vad has a lot of respect for Ghost and cares deeply for him.
Among a few miscellaneous pouches that sit on De’vad’s utility bet are basic medical supplies to treat simple injuries. There is also a small data pad that holds details of the current targets available for him from the Bounty Hunters Guild. Lastly these pouches hold spare ammunition to make sure he never runs short.
