Destination Rwookir

[Caine]

Walking out onto the docking pad at the Czerka facility Lux approached the ship that had been detailed to carry him to Rwookir with his youngest daughter trudging along beside him still half asleep from being woken up before dawn as she glared at Lux who grinned happily back at her. " Your the one who invited yourself along, you can sleep once we're on our way. " Lux said as he studied the side of the ship with a confused look on his face as he tried to figure out how to open the door.

Shaking her head tiredly Inlustris tapped a couple of keys on a small pad and a small door opened as ramp slid out stopping several feet in front of them as she muttered quietly about idiots who spent too much time fighting and to little learning how things worked. " That's what I have you for. " Lux said chuckling as he walked into the ship behind her scooping her up into his arms as he went getting a small glare from her before she closed her eyes.

Heading down to the cockpit Lux wandered in and sat down in one of the chairs with his daughter already asleep curling into him as he smiled down at her before turning towards the pilot for the journey. " I'm Lux and the little one is Inlustris. Anything you need to know before we head out? I'm looking forward to the chance to fight a few wookies ain't fought them before. " He said cheerfully as he tried to slide his daughter onto the chair but failed as she gripped his arm in her sleep and refused to be moved.

The ship they would be travelling on was a beautiful, sleek, shining white Lambda-Class shuttle with the Czerka emblem proudly displayed on the side. After some trouble of getting inside, Lux would find the female pilot tuning with some of the instruments on the display in the cabin. When she heard the two of them enter the girl would turn around and practically jump a foot out of her seat as she looked at the massive lizard-like alien suddenly in the room with her.

The girl's name was Rico Redella, but she was more commonly known around the company as Red-Haired Rico. Some even went so far as to simply call her Red, which she didn't mind. When she was at work, she always wore a red flightsuit underneath a black Czerka jacket which she kept buttoned all the way up to her neck. She was fully aware of how distracting her chest could be, and hated trying to have serious conversations with men who seemed to have a little trouble making eye contact. So, she did as much as she could to seem professional.

Her heart pounding, Rico sighed loudly as she caught her breath and would stand up and give a polite bow, "Goodmorning. You must be Mr. Tenebris. I'll be your pilot for this mission. I'm Miss Redella, but you can call me Rico if you'd like."

" I'm Lux and the little one is Inlustris. Anything you need to know before we head out? I'm looking forward to the chance to fight a few wookies ain't fought them before. "

"Pleasure to meet you, little one," she said to the child who was too sleepy to respond. It warmed her heard and she smiled. She would then blushed and said awkwardly, "I'm sorry for jumping. I didn't mean any offense. You scared me as all. Not that you're scary or nothing!" Her hands would raise defensively as she tried to not sound rude or cruel; her face flustered more as her words began to embarass her with every one that came out. "I mean you can be. For your species. I didn't mean that. I'm not some central racist or something. I like all species just fine. I mean I'm not trying to be forward with you or nothing. Oh but you're plenty good looking...I think? Oh dear. Oh dear.....I'm going to shut up now...."

 

[Caine]

Watching her zip up her jacket Lux gave her a confused look for a moment then shrugged to himself and put it out of his mind. " Scary is fine, with the exception of this little one and one cute Twilek who has apparently decided I'm sweet. " Lux said almost spitting the last word as if it offended him. " I scare a lot of people, what's with the jacket? Is it cold or something? " He asked absently as he settled his daughter into a more comfortable position and leaned back in the chair.

Looking around the cockpit with mild interest for a moment Lux laughed quietly to himself as his daughter poked him in the gut for a moment and moved his arms to pull her a little closer to him and keep her from falling off as she mumbled tiredly. " Stop moving pillow. I'm trying to sleep. " Shaking his head as he smiled wryly at Riko Lux mumbled. " Of course, how rude of me. So I've been demoted from father to pillow have I? " He said smiling down at her as she started to mumble something else before falling asleep. " I'm not doing a very good job of being scary am I? "

Looking back at Rico Lux studied her for a moment letting his eyes run over his body, as they passed over his chest he gave no reaction at all before looking back down at his daughter and carefully strapping himself in apparently completely uninterested in Rico's appearance. " We can go whenever your ready, unless you were flirting? I'm sure I can convince Inlustris to go back to bed for a few hours and give us some alone time. " He said cheerfully winking at her as he grinned with his eyes locked on hers.

" Scary is fine, with the exception of this little one and one cute Twilek who has apparently decided I'm sweet. "

Rico was slightly confused at why a creature like him wasn't excited about a twilek liking them. In her past, she'd been friends with several Twilek slaves who spent all their time entertaining men. They all hated it. Three guesses at to why. But hearing it from the other end was a little strange. Shouldn't he be excited one of the dancers liked him? Or maybe he wasn't talking about a dancer. Not likely in these times.

" I scare a lot of people, what's with the jacket? Is it cold or something? "

The climate in the room would actually be a little cold, but she didn't notice since she was wearing two layers of clothes. To the cold-blooded reptile, he should have been a little more chilly than her.

"Oh I'm fine," she would respond curiously. "But I can crank the heat up some if you'd prefer?" She still wanted to be the good host. But he didn't really seem to listen to her as his daughter, which she would need to have some questions answered about that, began to stir in his arms. She smiled at the scene in front of her and then at him when he finally looked her way.

" We can go whenever your ready, unless you were flirting? I'm sure I can convince Inlustris to go back to bed for a few hours and give us some alone time. "

Rico couldn't honestly tell if he was joking or not, so she didn't really have an answer for him. She just smiled nervously and directed her attention to the counsel then fired the ship's engines to life. She glanced over once more to make sure they were ready and then proceeded to take the ship out of the hanger and then out of the system. A good ten minutes later they were in hyperspace and onto the next leg of their journey.

" I'm fine, I don't really get cold, or hot for that matter. I figure it's something I do without realizing it with the force, enhancing my body seems to come pretty naturally to me, probably a Noghri thing, I'm good at enhancing my senses or using my extra ones too. " Lux said holding out a hand towards her. " Touch it, I'll show you. " He continued absently as he shifted his other arm to keep his daughter in place as she rolled over in her sleep.

Once she touched his hand then closed his around hers then he concentrated for a few seconds and his body turned icy cold for a moment then turned boiling hot making his daughter snuggle closer into him as his body warmed up. " Ain't gonna win me any fights but it has it's uses I suppose, how long do you think before we arrive? " She's been nervous since we came in, maybe she doesn't like kids? He thought able to feel it faintly despite not using the force to help. " What's up with you? I don't need to be a force user to know when somebody is nervous around me. She's not gonna bite you or anything. "

When he mentioned the Force, she'd toss him a quick glance, looking for a saber. He didn't look like a Jedi, or a Sith either. On these last few weeks she'd already had more than enough of her share of Force users. In her opinion, the galaxy got by just fine without their kind.

" Touch it, I'll show you. "

Rico would look at him for a second now before looking toward his outstretched hand. Was he being serious? What was he trying to do though?

"Um...Alright"

She reached for his hand and allowed him to demonstrate bus ability, and when it got cold she yanked it back. She wasn't freaked out by the feeling, but she didn't like the cold that much either.

"That is freaky," she said as a matter of fact.

" Ain't gonna win me any fights but it has it's uses I suppose, how long do you think before we arrive? "

She would look at the computer and do a few equations in her head, then say, "I'd give or take 8 hours. Maybe more once we actually get close to the system."

" What's up with you? I don't need to be a force user to know when somebody is nervous around me. She's not gonna bite you or anything. "

"Hmm?" She'd ask at first, not understanding his change in topic. "Oh! Nothing!"

Rico would wave her arms up and blush with a fake smile trying to hide the fact that of course she was nervous. But she didn't need him to know that. He was the client, she the driver. It's not like they'd be spending a lot of time together or anything....

 

[Caine]

" Uhhm, ok I might as well try to sleep then I'm gonna be stuck here for a while anyway. " Lux said shifting his position slightly to get more comfortable without waking up his daughter. She kinda reminds me of my twilek friend she flusters so easily. Shame Inlustris is here I can't tease her much. Guess I'll have to wait until another chance comes up. He decided as he closed his eyes to relax.

" If I'm not already awake by the time we arrive let me know when we're over the forest. I'll need to take a look around while you find a place to land, I haven't been to Rwookir before so it'll give me a chance to get a feel for the land. " He asked quietly as he yawned before allowing himself to fall asleep.

It would be several hours before the ship entered Kashyyyk and Rico gently nudged her client. She whispered his name a few times beforehand, but when he didn't respond she had to try a more physical touch. She didn't want to, afraid of some hidden reflex he may or may not even have and thus swiping at her with his claws.

"Mr Tenebris Sir, we're arriving."

Rico gave him a smile before focusing on piloting the ship down to lower ground. Rather than flying straight for the complex, she did as he requested and circled around so he could get a view of the area. High trees and cultured housing covered their view.

"Let me know when you're ready," she said with a little uncertainty. She'd stay airborne for as long as he wished, but she didn't really know how to give a tour or anything. Plus she didn't want ground control to get suspicious or anything with a foreign shuttle doing circles above them.

It wasn't much longer when she saw another shuttle coming their way, a Nimbus-Class carrier with Czerka's crest on both wings. She suddenly blurted out, "Oh yeah I forgot! We're being called to the executive hanger!" She'd point at the ship which was now making a landing near the center of the complex. "Apparently Mr Makr himself is coming to check on things. He expects us both to be there I guess."

As she said that last part she really didn't seem to enthused about it. She'd then bring the plane around and make a direct path over to the ship. There wasn't room for both shuttles so she would have to park at close as she could. She brought the ship over to a low opening by the trees and set it down.

Rico opened up the ramp and then would say to Lux, "I'm going to drop you off here. I wouldn't want you to be late. I'll go land the shuttle in one of the hangers where it can stay. Obviously I can't stay here." She giggled at her own joke and then would continue, "Just let them know I'll be there soon. It could be a while."

Then, with a quick goodbye she closed the ramp and flew the ship to the other side of the complex.

Slipping silently into the trees Lux moved quickly in the direction the ship had gone sniffing around as he moved trying to identify the new scents around him. This may be a little more difficult then I thought, I have no idea what any of these scents are. But if my people had taken a prisoner we'd have somebody watching for signs of a rescue party so we could try to ambush it.
Best assume the wookies are smart enough to be watching the base. Lux decided as he was moving.

If I was a wookie where would I be watching the base from? He wondered several times before he caught a faint scent several minutes later. I know that scent, must be a wookie I can't think of any other scents I'd recognize on this world. He decided speeding up as he followed the scent before he came to a stop behind a tree as the scent became stronger and he looked around slowly before he spotted a humanoid shape hidden in the shadow of a tree on the edge of the forest. I forgot how big those things are.

Moving slowly Lux circled until he was upwind of the wookie before he began closing in on it slowly flexing his claws in excitement. Coming within arms reach the wookie caught his scent at the last second and turned it's eye's widening as it reached for it's Ryyk blades as Lux's claw ripped across it's throat in a spray of blood dropping it chocking to the floor. " I hope your clan are better then you are or this isn't going to be as much of a challenge as I thought. " He muttered as he reached down to strip the blades off the wookie and slipped them loosely over his armor and moved out of the tree line into the base as he caught sight of another ship landing.
Wonder what the boss is doing here. He thought to himself as he approached the base.


A short while later Lux came back out of the base with Rico beside him and headed back in the direction of the scout he'd killed earlier hoping to find it's trail to follow to lead them towards the wookies camp.

" Let's get going then, what kind of combat experience do you have? "

The two of them would leave the group of higher up Czerka employees and Rico wouldn't answer his question until she was far enough away from them so they wouldn't hear her answer; she would look over her shoulder a good three times to make sure they weren't following her or watching her leave.

Her response finally came, quiet and ashamed, "I don't really have any. I have this pistol they issued me. Never shot it though. Can't be too hard right?"

" If this goes to plan you shouldn't need to do any fighting your job will mostly just be to bring the guest back this way whilst I deal with anybody who tries to follow us. I'm not much of a people person and if I had to deal with a whiny rich kid I'd end up hitting him. "

His response came as a relief to her, she was glad she didn't have to engage in a fist fight with a Wookie hairy beasts with no ability to speak basic. She wouldn't be surprised if they weren't even intelligent. Obviously they had to be a little to make houses and things, but Rico was obviously to that.

"That's fine with me. I'm used to sucking up to the money types."

 

[Caine]

" That's good then, you make a new friend, I'll make some new enemies and have fun fighting wookies. " Lux said cheerfully as he crouched over the body of the dead wookie scout for a moment before looking around for any tracks leading into the forest. " Got anything to help with tracking or finding the camp? I can do it the low tech way if needs be but that way won't work for you unless you happen to be a hunter in your spare time. " He asked curiously as he found a set of tracks leading deeper into the forest and waved her forward before following them.

" That's good then, you make a new friend, I'll make some new enemies and have fun fighting wookies. "

The two of them came up to the scout that Lux had killed which he'd just left there to rot. Rico grumbled as her stomach tried to object to the her lunch. She kept her distance from the sight but also the smell which was beginning to build up. She was already regretting her decision of agreeing to come along.

" Got anything to help with tracking or finding the camp? I can do it the low tech way if needs be but that way won't work for you unless you happen to be a hunter in your spare time. "

Rico was glad for his sudden distraction and she would pull out a small, but bulky handheld device that looked like a battery cell. She turned on the device and extended an antennae it had on top. It began to make a loud beeping sound like a slow heartbeat.

"I'm picking up life due North of us," she said and pointed forward. It was even more humorous because they were not even facing North, but that was beside the point.

 

[Caine]

" False trail, huh. Maybe they won't be so boring to deal with after all. " Lux muttered with a mildly impressed expression on his face. " Lead the way then Rico. Warn me when the enemy ambush shows up on your sensors.
They're smart enough to set a false trail so I'm sure they've got at least one ambush group around somewhere waiting for us, they know this ground better then we do and if I was them I'd have at least 4 ready to jump any rescue party to try and weaken it if not wipe it out entirely. " Lux said cheerfully as he pulled up his hood and let his mask slip into place.

Reaching into a coat pocket a pulled out a small bead and handed it over to her. " Closed circuit comm bead separate from Czerka's regular system so I don't have the risk of somebody else picking up something they shouldn't. " He explained as he fell in behind her to allow her to lead the way.

"Oh, great. Ambush. I'm going to die."

Rico whined again and would start to walk ahead. When he handed her the small com she slipped it into her breast pocket of her jacket. She passed a small thanks his way and then went on her way.

Tracking through the forest was horrible. She hated everything about it. Rico thought visiting this jungle paradise would be much more relaxing. She'd seen the Czerka promotional video. What a lie.

Together they pushed through the undergrass and low vines from the trees. She swatted away small bugs after her blood and flicked off bigger ones who'd managed to snag a ride. It was hot and humid; Rico was sweating something awful and she could feel herself chaffing inside her suit.

Finally her device began to beep more rapidly, causing her to stop and look around to Lux to give him the message. Just to be safe, she shut the device off so that it wouldn't make noise, thus giving away they're position. But she informed him first off that four signatures lie ahead of them. What she didn't notice was one had come up behind them some distance beyond the scope's range.

 

[Caine]

Grinning in anticipation Lux nodded before winking at Rico. " C'ya Rico. Try not to get killed. " He said before he vanished into the forests shadows silently leaving Rico alone. Now we see if any of these animals know how to fight or not. He thought happily as he quickly spotted a wookie crouched on a branch in one of the trees with a bowcaster and circled around him to come at him from upwind.

Other three are all on the ground, either they're good enough that they believe they can take whoever is coming or they're arrogant. As he closed in on the wookie sniper the three on the ground began moving towards Rico and Lux leaped lightly from branch to branch to land silently above the sniper who failed to notice his arrival. Over confident, but they were probably expecting soldiers not someone like me.

As the trio on the ground moved into sight of Rico Lux dropped down on the sniper from above lashing out with one foot to send him crashing to the ground in front of them with a roar of pain before Lux drawing on the force to strengthen himself slammed into the downed wookie planting his knee on it's chest with a wet crunch caving it in and killing the wookie instantly as the trio came to a dead stop in shock. " Please tell me one of you is better then this idiot and the scout who was watching the base. "

He said sighing in resignation as they began moving again two of them moving to flank him while a third tried to go around him to continue towards Rico with a pair of Ryyk blades in hand, snarling under his breath Lux pivoted slightly towards the closer of the pair confronting him and charged him leaping forward to plant a foot on it's chest knocking it back as he kicked off of it yanking his stolen blades free in the air as he spun over the wookie that had ignored him.

Skidding several feet as he landed between it and Rico the wookie staggered to a halt for a moment before collapsing face first onto the ground with it's spine severed at the back of it's neck as Lux flicked blood off his blades. " No no no, you do not kill the pretty women in the audience before the fight has even begun that's rude. Who's going to fall in love with me after witnessing my awesomeness if you do that. " Lux said as if chastising a small child as he slammed a blade down through the crippled wookies back straight into it's heart killing it before winking over his shoulder at her in amusement.

" C'ya Rico. Try not to get killed. "

"Wait what?!" she whispered loudly as she spun around no longer able to see which way he went. "Oh come on! You little creep!"

Rico looked around, whining to herself. Her heart pounded. He'd keep her safe...right? She heard a branch snap, and she spun with a shriek. But nothing came. It was just a small animal. She backed up, trying to gain some distance from her and the trees. It did her little good because there were just as many behind her, but it made her feel safer having a back to a tree.

She put away the device and reached for her gun. Doing like she had been trained, she flipped off the safety and held it tightly in both hands. The gun shook slightly since her hands were trembling so. That's when she saw them. Three large brown trees moved in the landscape of all the trees and leaves. No they weren't trees. Those were the Wookies. Each one covered in fur and armed with long curved blades. Rico snapped the gun barrel to face their location and began telling herself to pull the trigger. But she was frozen. Her finger was right there, but she couldn't pull it.

Suddenly the tree above snapped and Lux came down riding another into the floor. The Wookie roared in pain as Lux ended his life, " Please tell me one of you is better then this idiot and the scout who was watching the base. "

Two of them turned to face Lux while the third turned its attention to Rico. He began to walk more purposefully at her, raising his blades to end her life. Rico's eyes widened as the beast got closer and closer to her. "Pull the trigger!" she screamed in her head. Closer. Closer.

It stopped. The Wookie made a strange gargling noise before falling face first at her feet, one of their swords embedded in its spine. Rico looked from the blade up to Lux who had taken it out from behind; the other two fallen as well beyond him.

" No no no, you do not kill the pretty women in the audience before the fight has even begun that's rude. Who's going to fall in love with me after witnessing my awesomeness if you do that. "

Rico just stood there, letting everything soak in. She was safe. She was alive. All thanks to Lux. She could breath and move again. With a sigh she started to relax her hand, but then accidentally pulled the trigger. The laser bolt sailed just over Lux's shoulder and burnt a small hole in one of the trees. As this happened, Rico screamed and threw the gun like it suddenly became hot. It may have scared Lux almost being shot, but it probably scared Rico twice as much.

"I'm sorry!" she shouted once she realized what happened.

 

[Caine]

Twitching slightly as the bolt flew over his shoulder Lux sighed before focusing his attention on the pair of wookies in front of him. " This is embarrassing, she's come closer to killing me that any of you have and she did it by accident. I thought wookies were supposed to be dangerous. " He said sounding midly upset as one of the wookies roared and charged at him angered by his dismissing them as threats.

Watching it charge Lux ducked under it's swing at the last second and it took several staggering steps forward before collapsing face first on the ground with it's chest slashed opened by the swords in Lux's hand as he focused his attention on the last of the wookies in front of him. Why is he so happy? Lux wondered as he reached out through the force opening his senses. Damn it. He thought as he noticed the 5th wookie approaching from behind Rico. Not good, no more time for playing around.

Lux lashed out with a foot catching the wookie in the stomach winding it for a moment and spun flicking his swords point first into the ground as he yanked a pair of shuriken from pouched on his legs and sent them scything through the air towards Rico and the wookie approaching from behind her shouting as he spun. " You should duck now. " Before he finished his spin facing the winded wookie again yanking both his swords from the ground and knocking his enemies blade aside with one while he rammed the other up into the base of it's throat dropping it choking to the ground and turned back towards Rico. I really hope she ducked. He thought as he turned back towards her.

Scared that one of them still might come after her Rico quickly turned her attention to the ground where the gun had dropped. She reached for it while moving in the same direction and ended up kicking the gun away from her even further.

"Oh frack!" she swore and tried again.

" You should duck now. "

Rico picked up the gun and turned around with a confused, "Huh?" only to see the shurriken flying toward her. She yelped and went to move but her feet slipped in the muddy terrain and she fell back down onto her butt. The blades flew over her head and landed in the Wookie. She would toss her head back to follow the path of the knives and saw the massive creature behind her.

With another shriek the girl spun and crawled backwards on her hands and butt and then finally raised the gun again and pulled the trigger. The bolt would hit him in the chest; it wasn't fired too accurately, but it was enough to finish the job. Rico watched silently, though breathing heavily, as the beast fell to its knees and finally to its death at her feet.

"Is it....dead?" she would ask several long silent moments later.

Turning back to the wookie choking on the ground at his feet LUx crouched down and in a casual display of brutality rammed a sword through it's throat again then yanked it free severing it's head ending it's suffering in the process before he walked over to check on the wookie his shuriken had hit. " If it's not then it's still not going to be getting back up, did you mean to hit it's left lung or was that luck? " He asked curiously as he crouched down to yank his shuriken free and then wiped the blood off them on the wookies fur and tucked them back into the pouches on his leg.

" Hitting your enemies lung like that is the kind of thing I teach my kids, it's not quick and leaves the enemy able to fight back but unless they get medical help quickly it's almost certain to kill them and it's not a pleasant way to die.
One of 8 kill points I train them to target. " He said as he indicated where his 2 shuriken had impacted the wookie.

" Liver and Kidney, much the same as the lung it's almost certain to kill but even slower then hitting a Lung. Looks like I only scratched them as well so it would have been really slow, I'll need to put more force behind the throw on wookies in future they've got more muscle to protect them then most species.
Not as tough as Barabel though. " He said speaking half to himself before he looked over at Clara and winced slightly to himself. Right, pilot not killer. I need to remember most humans aren't like my kids. He reminded himself as he walked over to her and pulled the gun out of her hand tucking it away into his belt then picked her up lightly to carry her out of sight of the bodies and jumped lightly onto a tree branch to set her down a dozen feet above the ground.

" If it makes you feel any better you didn't really kill him, the shuriken did enough damage to put him down he just hadn't realized it yet, First time you saw a fight like that up close? " He asked calmly as he moved away from her a little then laid down and began absently wiping blood off his swords completely undisturbed by having killed 6 people in less then an hour. She's gonna be sick any minute now when the adrenaline runs out.

Watching her waiting to see how she would react to what had happened he pushed down the hint of irritation he always felt around people he considered soft and didn't realize he was speaking out loud until it was to late. " Your lucky, I was 4 when I murdered my brother and even younger when I watched my mum kill one of my sisters. "

" If it's not then it's still not going to be getting back up, did you mean to hit it's left lung or was that luck?"

"I'm...uh.....gonna go with luck on that one. Was that.....good?"

" Hitting your enemies lung like that is the kind of thing I teach my kids, it's not quick and leaves the enemy able to fight back but unless they get medical help quickly it's almost certain to kill them and it's not a pleasant way to die. One of 8 kill points I train them to target. "

"Oh. I see." She wasn't sure how she liked how that sounded, but he seemed pleased with her so that was a plus.

She would just kind of stare at him not really sure how to respond. He could tell she was as lost as a little child, maybe that's why he made that face at her. He then came over and took the gun from her to which she'd pout and huff again like a child. Sure she almost hit him once, but she wasn't about to do it again. Plus he just said she did good with the Wookie.

He then decided to pick her up and that's when she got really confused. She was about to ask him nicely to put her down, not appreciating being carried like some rag doll, when he jumped and climbed the tree. She held on tightly, not at all necessary, and closed her eyes. When he set her back down she nearly slipped with all the mud on her behind.

" If it makes you feel any better you didn't really kill him, the shuriken did enough damage to put him down he just hadn't realized it yet, First time you saw a fight like that up close? "

"Yeah," she would respond as she shrugged her way closer to the base of the tree so as not to slip and fall.

She patiently watched him clean his blades and couldn't seem to take her eyes off the blood. Dead blood. Wookie blood. Her stomach was indeed churning upsettingly, but she would not vomit. Sadly to say, this wasn't the first dead body she'd ever seen.

Rico wasn't sure how much she wanted to share with this complete stranger, but something about him was calming, in an odd sort of way. He just had that kind of personality. Vicious to fight, but maybe he had a soft spot inside. Who could tell really?
