Prologue...

"Master! MASTER!!!"

The bolt of light struck the Zabrak on the chest, just before he got himself together and batted the following blaster shot to it's source's head. If he didn't reach the ship soon, he would die, and so would the kid beside him. His left arm hung uselessly by his side, having taken three shots already. Now, the chest wound added to the abdominal one, as well as his leg's. Vizza was... no, Vizza had reached his limit. "Derek... you must go. Now." Vizza had felt it, seen it even. Back up were comming in soon, and if he got on the ship Derek wouldn't make it. And right now, Derek needed to live. "Go!" Derek's purple eyes teared up, but as more blaster fire came in he ran inside the ship, to the cockpit. Speaking to the boy through telepathy, he explained him breafly how to command the ship into the nearest planet, so that he could get help, as he hid behind a thick tree to avoid the blaster's aim. Soon, the ship was ready to depart, but just as it lifted, the rocket launchers came within range and shot. Vizza comming out of hiding, resumed his last focus on telekinetically pushing the rockets back to their sources, and was they blew up, he realised he had bought enough time for Derek to escape, taking in the last blaster shots to his body, with his so well known smile...

It Begins.

“So, that’s the kid?” The voice of the Togruta came out as almost a whisper to her companion, a Twi’lek, who nodded in reply. “Yep, that’s the one.” The Togruta took a deep breath. “Are the rumors true?” The Twi’lek looked back at the kid. “I’m afraid so… he spoke of it himself. He seems to believe all of it too. What’ve you heard so far, Cayleen?” The Togruta’s eyes faced the kid’s deep purple ones, which made her twist her head in the opposite direction, turning her back on the kid. “You know… has he really arrived at the temple in Mader’s ship? And he had his saber? Has Vizza’s body been found yet?” The Twi’lek nodded for the first two questions, but to the third, he shook his head. “Word goes fast around here... No, no, Vizza’s body is yet to be discovered, though after the first week in which the boy didn’t speak, he said that Vizza was always with him. It’s been theorized that Vizza somehow bound his soul to the child… “ “How!?...” “How, we do not know. But the Masters have spoken of this… it seems there was a technique which allowed one to ‘return from the dead’ to guide the living. We’re just not sure… this is quite a unique case, really…” The Togruta sighed yet again. “What’ll happen to the kid?” “Who knows?...” “What happened to him on the planet? Selvaris, was it?” “Yes. Vizza was there undergoing some investigations, and he found this kid in a raided colony, by slavers, most likely. Typical, right? So, Vizza takes him in, and the kid accompanies him while he investigates… that was his mistake. He could —no, he should have left the kid in the care of someone who could and resumed his investigation alone. The kid winded up being his fall…” The Togruta named Cayleen closed her eyes and shook her head. It wasn’t like Vizza to randomly taking in a kid during a mission. “What made Vizza do that!?” “Who knows?... Vizza was bizarre in his own way.”

The kid looked up, even though his head was facing the floor. He sat tight on his chair, his feet swinging about, and the tips of his toes touching the floor once in a while. The Twi’lek and the Togruta didn’t think the kid could hear ‘em, but he could. His eyes face the floor again, focusing not to listen to their words, but he just couldn’t help. He would show them, show to everyone… He would become the greatest Knight out there! Looking up to the Knights, Derek Maverick watched with particular interest the female Togruta… it was something that never changed about him, even though he was merely a child. Female figure was just something he liked to see, and even though he was just ten years old. Reminding himself of the recent events, he tried to focus back on track and not drift into admiring the female constitution. He ran a hand over his white hair, uncommon for a human kid, and his purple eyes looked back to the floor. He was to await the Council’ decision on whether he would fit into the ranks of the Jedi, or not. He was scarred… if he wasn’t accepted, not only would he break his vow to Vizza, but he was completely clueless as what path to take if he couldn’t stay in Ossus.

The Twi’lek and the Togruta parted ways and the Twi’lek approached. A male, blue skin, a tendril around his neck while the other hung neatly on his back spoke to Derek. “Hey there, little fella. Congratulations, you were accepted into the Jedi Academy.” Derek was a little scared at first, the Twi’lek caught him by surprise, but his surprise and scare turned into a smile, a small, warm and charismatic smile. "Great! Vizza will be pleased to know that…” The Twi’lek’s own smile trembled at the mention of Vizza, but got back up. “Yes, I’m sure of it. The knight responsible for your training is…” Derek waited for the name... who would be the next to mold his destiny?

Apperance: Derek stands about 4'6'', weighing 110lbs. He is more or less skinny, but the padawan clothing make him look more chubby then he really is. He has quite unnatural features for a human, which make people doubt if he is actually a pure human: he has short, albino hair, pale skin and deep purple eyes. He has pointy nose and nice lips. He bears few scars on his body from his rough last moments in Selvaris, but fortunately for him his padawan clothing covers them all up.

Atributes: Derek, as a ten year old, surprises most. Due to his (unknown to others) past as a farmer boy, he has surprising strenght, but not loosing up speed and agility just for that. He is a tough cookie, having a quite fit body despite his skinny constitution. He was one of the best kids of his small farmer community in what regarded child's games: tag, seek and hide, etc, etc... His immunity system is still developing, but with a hand of the Force he's been able to go about with few illnesses on his chart. He is not stupid, and with a good teacher he can learn much. Not the fastest thinker, but then again, he can still grow. He his as much charismatic as any ten year old with a silly smile on his face, smile which has been regarded as very similar to Vizza's.
One of Derek’s greatest weaknesses is the fact that he still hasn’t learned much in the ways of physical or mundane experiences, namely fighting experience and common skills like slicing, computing, repairing, etc. However, he is very strong willed, though sometimes his cowardice overcomes his will and makes him run for it. If however his will stays sharp, he will try to do whatever he focused his resolve into.
He has learned very little about the use of a lightsaber, but he knows how to hold one without severing one of his limbs off.

Personality: Derek can almost be said to have a multi personality disorder. At times he is a friendly, caring, responsibility-carefree, joke telling lazy bum. At others, he is a responsible kid, willing to do his job, no matter what. He can also be a very mad person, reacting violently to others, or showing off apathy. He is really troublesome to deal with, because you never know how he'll be: happy, mocker, non responsive, bad mouthing others...
The only thing that is sure to be expected is his perverted-ness. He is very curious in what regards the female body, but being a child its mere curiosity and not actual perverted-ness. No matter how or when, he never casts aside his way of thinking on what regards the female body, unless in extreme situations.
However, even with all above, one of the most surprising factors is how he isn't mentally scarred by the recent events that lead to his escape of Servalis and Vizza's death. While it hasn't been discovered by the others, the explanation is simple: Vizza used his connection with Derek to ease his mind, and to explain him that death is just another part of life. Derek was not to regret Vizza's death, but to honour it by living his life to whatever extent he could take it. Vizza tried not to pour any of his personality into the Derek, but the connection they share frustrated Vizza's plans on this one.

Force Powers: Derek has a strong connection to the Force, which is result of Vizza's act of binding his soul to the Kid, which resulted in a freak mix of Force Ghost and Bond. Despite never receiving proper instruction with a Knight... at least, an alive one, Derek is proficient in the use of Telekinesis. The Force blessed him with a sharp Precognition and Sense, as well as Psychometry. Whenever he got into a new place, he could, at times, pick up impressions left there by previous people or events, though this last one is still weak and needs to be worked on.
