"In keeping with Corellian Tradition, Cunning and Coolness under fire is the standard on which most of her people are judged. Perhaps this is why 54 year old Denis Holand was elected to the Senate. Elected in a landslide after his predecessor Judah Zaren stepped down for unmentioned purposes, Senator Holand has yet to prove himself. I'm here with the ambitious new Senator now.
Senator Holand, what new ideas can you bring to the Senate?"
"Well, that's the question, isn't it? *Laugh* This Republic's been around for a long time, and practically every idea out there's already been suggested to our Senate. I doubt I'll bring any new ideas to the table, but maybe I can get them farther than they've gotten before."
"I see. Now, for the people at home, on different worlds, how would you describe yourself?"
"Well, I'm a bit biased, but, uh... *Chuckle* If you asked my wife, she'd probably tell you I'm stubborn as Hell! And I won't deny it, either! But I'll let my previous accomplishments tell the story so I don't have to. I mean, I kept my head and didn't panic when my campaign nearly ran off course after that scandal with the young lady back on Corellia. I think the fact that I admitted to it and didn't deny it said something of my character."
"And just what would that something be, if you don't mind my asking?"
".... I'd say it showed how responsible I am."
"I see... Tell me, Senator, Just how did you get into Politics?"
"Everything on Corellia's Politics! Hell, even buying things for crops or stores is politics! But if you want the nitty-gritty details, then you'd have to look into my old man's Farm on the outskirts. We couldn't grow much, but it helped in making some fine Ale, I'll tell you that much! I think it was then.... Yeah, that's when I started to like the idea of changing things to make it easier for people everywhere. Having experienced some back-breaking work, myself, I know where most people come from. I've been that guy you see on the street, begging for a few credits!
If you ask me, every politician should've been dirt poor at some point or another! It builds character.... You won't be able to represent the people, if you haven't experienced what the People've had to experience."
"Mhm.... You speak of your father as if in disrespect. Is that true?"
"Not at all! I have the utmost respect for my parents! Just because I call him my old man or throw a few friendly jabs his way doesn't mean I don't think less of the man! I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for him!"
" Senator, just where do you stand on most issues?"
"I'm, uh.... I'm pretty much standing on top of 'em. *Chuckle* No, No, I'm more conservative on just about everything. Expect me to vote conservatively for the most part."
"You said you're stubborn. Will that get in the way of decisions?"
"No, I've never been afraid to compromise. But When I set my mind on something, I'll fight to make sure I win. When the opposition won't back down, I'm a big, BIG fan of compromise. If we can't compromise, we can't get anything done."
"Senator, what are your thoughts on the growing tensions between the Alsakans?"
"The Alsakans.... or the tensions with them, rather.... Are a tough subject to discuss. I want, more than anything, to preserve this Republic. If that means potentially cutting the Alsakans off from trade or, God Forbid, go to War, then I WILL defend those options. But at the moment, all I want is for the tensions to go down, and for people to not live in fear."
"I see. Well, thank you Senator, for your time, And good luck with your new future!"
"No problem, and thank you!"
