I'll be making a few edits to my own character going into January, but it'd be neat to talk strategy now that the faction territories have been unveiled. We'll be starting out with a pretty big disadvantage, and a loss could set us back big time. Not like I have anything solid planned, but we could bounce around ideas here with how we'll interact with the SBZ and how we won't....like, get ourselves killed.

Speaking in terms of living systems analysis, security systems, and systems of legitimation, the appropriate method to undermine the Border Alliance is to terrorize the people and instill in them the belief that the Republic cannot guarantee them the security they need. People do not blame an invading force for their troubles, they typically blame the security forces who are supposed to defend them. This is how centripetal instability works in Iraq and Afghanistan; the governments image is eroded from its inability to defend minor outposts until nearby areas decide to defend themselves, weakening the central government. Terrorism shouldn't obviously be the weapon of the Sith; the Sith should look like a viable security guarantor, with a strong, centralized security apparatus as opposed to the disunified and disorganized Border Alliance.

Speaking in terms of roleplay, the appropriate route of expansion is not corewards, but spinwards and trailing, into unclaimed territory. The Sith have many more expansion opportunities than the BA, that should be capitalized on. The appropriate Republic/BA strategy would be containment. The appropriate Sith counter to a containment strategy would be to create new, non-contiguous enclaves of Sith control - for example at Bakura or Tatooine.

That's probably going to involve politics. The Sith should have their own political counter to the Senate.

I agree with Saul. The main focus at first should be to undermine, but not directly confront the Republic/BA. We should look to expand away from them, and force them to respond far away from their territory or ours. That might cause some logistic problems in maintaining outposts that may be very far away from our main territory, but a few of those diversions could allow us to expand close to home while the Republic/BA is occupied.

@Saul From the looks of the map, seems like the first course of action would be incursions toward unoccupied sectors like Telos and Mirial to the north; then Felucia, Ossus and Anzat to the east. Once we have a few worlds under our control and when everyone's got a few battles under their belt, engaging the BA and taking back Darthomir looks like a primary target (not something I'd do too early on, but eventually once we look into weakening the BA's line between them and the Republic). But I agree, I believe we should start out relatively quiet in the beginning. After all, most of the Republic still believes the Sith to be extinct, or are at the very least denying their return. We could use that against the Republic by taking on the element of surprise. The best course of action would, like you said, be subterfuge and slowly turning the citizenry near (or in) Border Alliance worlds against the Republic and the Jedi. If we can, we may even be able to break the BA's faith in the Republic similar to how we plan on doing with the citizenry. That'd be a cool angle, getting a few BA worlds to turn on goals suggested by the Sith. That's still far in the future, though.

You're right, the early months is going to be a lot of politics. It'll take a lot of teamwork. Should be fun, though.

More than any of this, though, I want to see internal power struggles and drama between Darths. I think that Darths should select Apprentices to be in their influence; they are their underlings benefactors and, in return, the underlings serve their Darth. Darth-vs-Darth drama occurs primarily at the Apprentice level. Darths might even have territorial power - vested interest in certain sectors of space where, should there be a battle, it's primarily up to that Darth and his apprentices to actively defend that space, they take priority when signing up. Darths might even fight each other for territory.

I feel it represents the fragmented nature of the Sith at this point, as well as represents the natural internal politics of the Sith prior to the Rule of Two.

Sounds fair. I'm still not sure how the whole Sith hierarchical structure is going to work out, whether or not the title of Darth in the way we know it now (i.e. the highest ranked members of the Sith, or if it's going to be more common) is going to be a 'thing'. But that makes more sense, since we saw similar things in the films (both Darth Vader and Darth Maul being 'apprenticed' to Palpatine despite also being Sith Lords in their own right). This period of the Sith reminds me a lot of the Roman Empire/Republic. I can't remember which era it was (I believe it was the Republic), but Senators all essentially had their own armies or troops under their command that use to consolidate their own power. I like that kind of approach. Darth's, if they still exist in this timeline after all, may be selected to lead lesser Sith forces and members of the SBZ in conquests of other sectors/worlds. If they happen to succeed then they may claim a kind of psuedo-dominion over that sector and act as it's warden, and use that as a way to consolidate their power.

Come on guys, the only proper tactic is to rush the BA and Republic and use our superior egos to defeat them!

@Sapphire Storm

I absolutely love this. I'm overjoyed to see a female Sith who isn't a glamorized, arrogant sexpot or manipulative seductress. I just love how weak and flawed she is, haha. How'd you like for Kytana to be Andromeda's apprentice? Or just taken under Andro's wing? I foresee some adorable threads in the future XD

I really wish there were more Sith who were just total losers or train-wrecks, the potential for storytelling and development from characters like that is so great.

@Marf I mean, she can be a manipulative seductress, but it's all acting and playing a role and not at all indicative of who she is. She's basically mediocre or bad at everything that doesn't involve acting. Also, I'd love that! Andro might even be the one mentioned at the very end of her bio that terrified the criminals on Ziost, depending on timeline and age and everything.

Looking over Andro's profile, I quickly noticed that they're both complete opposites and very alike in many ways, which I love ^_^.

Would love to do something like this with Samar. Using apprentices or members of ziost to spread the soth lords influence sounds like fun.

In terms of strategy I think we should expand outwards and then try a pincer movement cutting the BA off from the Republic taking republic territory as they seem to be less armed than the BA.

I'm liking how dedicated you guys are to our cause. Strategies, plans being shared and developed. A fresh start will do this faction real good, all with new members and ways of working. Fear not, we will have victory.

Will talk to you all about strategies soon once i get to my PC.

Strategies are really up to the FL's and Admins behind the scenes. Still, knowing the front lines are in a fluid state will encourage people to conduct roleplays on worlds in the periphery of your factions territory, rather than having to, say, fly all the way to Dagobah for an RP.

@Saul You can always share your ideas with your fellow faction members, which is what you have been doing here; and which is what I suggested I would do. It helps establish the spirit of friendship and co-operation in the ranks.

Yeah, of course it is up to the faction adminstration to have the say on how you do things.

Of course, but I merely mean to point out that we should prioritize roleplay first, metagaming last; the faction leadership will be the primary mover in determining what routes to take. They might take our feedback, but if they don't then we shouldn't be frustrated because we felt our ideas were better. Expanding into unoccupied space seems like a great idea, for example - but how do you implement it? There is no opponent to have battles with, so is it a mission-based system, where a certain threshold of missions are required to be completed to claim territory? If it becomes redundant and boring, no amount of desire to expand is going to effectuate it because the RP itself just grinds down. So the system for expanding into unclaimed space needs to make sense, and also needs to be slow enough that the whole galaxy isn't claimed.

Another things, seeing as I saw them mentioned in the thread, there's also the possibility that the title Darth might not even exist in this era. Just a matter of semantics maybe, but still.

Hello I am going to be making my second character a Sith. While I have a basic outline in my head is there any specific kinds of Sith than would best fit what we already have? Is there a power structure in place? Does anyone need a master to further their own roleplay. As this likely will be my secondary priority I am easy with helping others further their agenda's,

Another new guy here interested in playing a sith. I want to break away from the "I came to Korriban because nothing good ever happened in my life" 3edgy5u cliche and make a sith warrior who is generally emotionally well-adjusted (as far as sith go) and mostly just interested in helping the Order achieve its goals and conquering the galaxy. The idea is that rather than be shaped by his past, he's a sort of semi-blank slate who is shaped by ongoing events.

I am planning a more diplomatic style character one who outwardly appears frail (walks with a limp has a cane sort of thing) but in reality is just as dangerous as a fully armored crusader in combat

That's what I was going for as well. A bit like Palpatine, but with a heavier emphasis on the Sith culture and religious overtones.

Could be interesting to form a diplomatic corp to go in first and try to "peacefully" tempt planets and systems

I have an idea for a Gand Sith warrior looking to escape his people's traditions by joining the Sith. He isn't as strong with the Force as his peers but is a lethal lightsaber duelist. Also, he intentionally induces pain and discomfort on himself to increase his rage. Namely, by mixing a tiny bit of O2 into his ammonia mask, which is basically like acid to a breather Gand.
