Apart from evil being inherently dependent on the culture at hand, there is no justice in wiping out an entire culture or belief system because their ways are seen as "evil" by yours.

Ah! But that's where our definition of "justice" and "evil" come into play, and in how many people consider something as being "evil". For example, we consider the slaughter of children (ie, Anakin killing the younglings during Order 66) to be an evil act, but if "evil" is subjective, then is it really wrong, or was it justified? And that being the case, if 97% of the galaxy determines something to indeed be evil, does that make it evil?

If they worship the Dark Side and that is the end of it, are they to be burned alongside those who spill blood in the name of the Dark?

Worshiping the Dark Side isn't the issue, it's what the Dark Side drives people to do. Without fail, every single religion that aligns itself specifically to the Dark Side of the Force commit grandiose acts of violence, slaughter and often conquest, and that's because of the Dark Side's own nature. If you worship it, it changes you in kind. In fact, the alteration from the Dark Side is so strong, its sometimes even becomes evident on the physical aspect (glowing eyes, dead, withered skin, blisters, etc.).

If anyone worshiped the Dark Side without committing (often increasingly) evil acts, there'd likely be no conflict with the Light Side to begin with.

If you spill blood in the name of the Light, are you any better? The most important precaution to take when fighting monsters is to make sure you don't become one in the process...

Quite so. All killing is not equal; two people have a gun aimed at the other. Both are prepared to kill in the name of what they stand for. One is a gangster, killing to help his crew grow in infamy. The other is a police officer, prepared to kill in the name of the law. In the case of Light Side vs Dark, one side kills to protect, defend or otherwise remove an element that is oppressive or domineering, the other kills to conquer, dominate, relish in (or increase) their power, or simply for pleasure.

The contrast between what they fight for, and what they kill for, makes all the difference. A Lightsider wouldn't kill for the same reasons or purposes of a Darksider because they embrace the nature of the side of the Force they worship. If they did, they wouldn't be a lightsider. Now, keeping themselves aligned in the Light could be a challenge since it's the higher road and more difficult to avoid temptations, but killing does not make a Jedi like a Sith anymore than affection makes a Sith more like a Jedi.

With Rhonan's people being near-extinct at this point of galactic history, he's going to be anti-eradication if he can help it.
And that's very awesome. I can see many, many Jedi would be willing and wanting to avoid cultural genocide if they can help it. That's a very Jedi way of thinking, and is in line with their merciful nature. But I can also, and understandably, see how some Jedi might see the opposite as the more viable option, if it serves the galaxy, not to mention the balance of the Force, better in the long run. I imagine this iis part of why Jedi/Sith conversions often become such a big deal for both Orders.

There can be no Light without Darkness, no Darkness without the Light. The brighter the Light burns, the more abyssal the Darkness grows.

The issue I see spawning with so many zealots is the corruption of power and authority more than the corruption of the Dark Side. As it stands, there are 3 (?) Knight characters that would come blows with Padawan Rhonan over his 'heretical' views? There are going to be a lot of General Krell-ish Jedi this timeline, which will be interesting, for sure. This kind of IC tension will be intriguing, especially if/when it comes to blows among the Jedi Order.

You must be a boon to your brothers and bane to your enemies. It is not too late to return to the light.

However, sins hidden in the heart turn all to decay.

Man, you guys are gonna be fun to write with.

I know right? I'm totally excited just seeing the interactions of the different kinds of Jedi. I can't really see anyone going all:

But I do imagine a clash of idealogies on which path the Jedi should take against the Sith, particularly once they rear their ugly heads. Damn good time to figuratively be alive

I am a boon to my brothers and sisters by stopping their hand, preventing them from becoming the enemy.

A mind without purpose will wander in dark places.

Doubt is a sign of weakness.

Oh yeah, this is going to be great.

Kwanli

Jedi Knight - Crusader

KwanliAction.png

[/beebox2]

Traits
[beebox3=90%]
[/beebox3]

  • Personality
Despite over two hundred years of influence within the Jedi Order, Kwanli is still a fairly typical Wookiee at heart. Typical Wookiee behavior would mean a fairly powerful temper that can be hard to provoke, but even more difficult to stop once you are successful in provoking it. This can be considered both a strength and a weakness in character, but he does his best to have patience and keep his temper in check. That said, the Wookiee is a honorable ally and is highly spiritual. Earning his friendship means he will be tied to you through the force and always care for you. Much like a life-debt, he will protect trusted allies to the end and constantly feel for them. As friends have passed away over the years, Kwanli holds onto their energy and often can be found communing with the dead in meditation. To earn such trust and friendship is not as tough as one might think. Kwanli is very friendly and can sense goodwill in others, though on the other side he can also detect darkness. Those in darkness will find a friend seeking to bring them to the light, so long as they do not present themselves as hostile. Time has worn on the Jedi and his optimistic nature is not what it once was. He prefers to give the benefit of the doubt, but often finds himself judging others much quicker than before.

  • Strengths

When you speak to the physical strengths of the Wookiee Jedi it is obvious that he is strong, yet agile. A good balance of sheer strength and graceful precision. This makes Kwanli a dangerous enemy in battle, where two hundred years of experience against foes of all types come into play as well. When it comes to mental strength, he is somewhat average. Two centuries of studies and experience has given him a certain wisdom, but he is no genius or sage. Those two centuries were also filled with war and turmoil. This has shaped Kwanli into a warrior first, and a sage second. Scholarly Jedi are not his enemy, but they are not his kin. Battle has dug itself deep into Kwanli, making him full warrior. This is both a strength and a weakness.

  • Weaknesses

A Jedi is not what it was when Kwanli joined the Order. His people had long valued the peaceful Jedi as a wise mediator for the Galaxy. Kwanli had been set on the path to be a sage, a consular with more diplomatic intents than combative. War changes everything. Even after two hundred years the Wookiee Jedi is still plagued with doubt. He often wonders if he made the right choices, if it was too late to give up the fight to hide in a library, and if his bloodthirsty ways would turn him down a bad path. Years of bloodshed and turmoil with the Sith have taught him to hate them. This hate is buried and focused into righteous anger, but still gnaws at his heart. The appeal of the Dark Side is an easier path to destroying one's enemies. It would be a lie to say that Kwanli has defeated his urges. Even after two centuries of meditation he still struggles with the draw to the darkness from time to time. The desire to destroy the Sith often blinds Kwanli from his emotions, friends, and surroundings. He often must consciously be careful not to let his temper get the better of him.

Biography

Kashyyyk - 237 Years Ago

The forests of Kashyyyk were much the same in those days. Treetop villages were scattered all over the planet which saw mostly piece in its history, other than a rocky relationship with their galactic neighbors on Trandosha. Kwanli was born in one of these peaceful villages to a normal family. His father was a proud warrior who crafted a Bowcaster in honor of his new, and first, son. In those days, the chances of meeting a Jedi (or any outsider) was rare in the village. This is why, despite a strong connection to the force, it took over two years for the Jedi to find the youngling among the trees. A proud father and mother willingly gave their child to the Jedi, knowing it was the best path for him. Their joy in having such an honor was obvious each time he would visit over the years.

Kwanli spent over ten years as a Padawan to a human Jedi Master based on Tython. The pair traveled a decent amount and there was a time of peace for them. Over the natural course of adventure and training the Wookiee became an equal to his Master in terms of rank within the Order. Now rather than Master and Padawan, they were partners in justice. They battled side-by-side for years and accomplished much for the Order in the spurts of wars and general peacekeeping. In time, however, Kwanli would outlive his human friend simply due to his longer lifespan. His old Master died of old age after 40 years of friendship. The Wookiee Jedi mourned him for a short time before taking on a new partner, an apprentice.

An adult by this point, Kwanli was happy to train another despite the growing wars and tensions throughout the Galaxy. At this point, it would still be another hundred years or so before the Sith would suffer their major defeat at the hands of the Republic and Jedi. Battles were common and life could be tough at times over the years. His apprentice would also suffer the same fate as his Master; death due to old age and disease. One hundred years had passed for the Jedi Knight, and he had already lost numerous friends to the ultimate killer. Many considered him old, despite his youthful attitude.

Over the years Kwanli stopped taking Padawans for one-on-one training. The heart break from such closeness was too much. Friendships still developed, but he was certainly growing more distant from others. By the time the Sith Empire was defeated, most considered Kwanli to be raw warrior with little emotion. This seemed like the perfect Jedi from appearances, but he suffered from loneliness and loss on the inside. His solution was to open up more once the war and reconstruction efforts were settling down. For the most part, it was an entirely new generation of Jedi. A clean slate.

One hundred years passed, and Kwanli still struggled to find a padawan or open up to his fellow Knights. Now their threats seemed to grow and he was one of the few who still remembered the Sith of old. He knew the old Empire, and would take up the blade again to prevent their return.

Eh, I already have a Master set up for Rhonan in the Order, a zealot at that, to compile the drama. If it comes to it, I'd likely have Rhonan break off and join the Greys, or start on offshoot faction, "The Council of Thorns". To me, it would be a greater arch to have unfold organically, however it goes.

And don't worry, these aren't even creative juices. Just good ol' Irish whiskey.

BIOGRAPHY

Early Life

Prudii was born on Mandalore to father Kronos Kyramud and mother Droma Kyramud. His father worked part time for MandalMotors while home, but worked primarily as a bounty hunter. His mother, too, worked at MandalMotors, and was a supervisor over starship design. The Kyramuds lived in compound like house that was rather large roughly 50 klicks south of Keldabe. The homestead was fortified to withstand an attack for a short period of time, and featured bunkers and reinforced walls, custom designed by Kronos himself incase one of his jobs ever followed him home. Prudii's father enlisted in the border alliance, only to die in combat. Prudii, who had been training under his parents to become a warrior as well, was devastated by the loss of his father. At age 13 he passed his Verd'goten and was christened as a true Mandalorian. Shortly later when Prudii was 14, Droma Kyramud died of a respiratory infection from an accident with starship coolant at MandalMotors. This left Prudii emotionally scarred and alone on Mandalore. Running from the pain, and wanting to escape his traumatic past he left Mandalore with armor that had been fitted for him after passing his trials.

Time on Nal Hutta

Achute Bukee, uba ye wanya kouwahh, an kouiohe. «Hello Boy, you look weak, and cold.»

The words had been spoken to him by a Hutt, not Nor'baal - a different hutt, that Prudii had been thrown in front of so many years ago. He had run away from Mandalore like a batt out of hell, and to the Outer Rim he had been flung. Like a bad piece of meat each world had spat him out, and to another world he had landed. One of those worlds he found himself on was 'Hutta, and on the plate of the Desajilics. Prudii had been dressed in rag tag armor. The least amount of plates possible to constitute as 'armor', a cheap blaster rifle, a an accurate shot had made him a cheap gun for hire, but the Hutts had seen something more than just a cheap gun.

Jee neu cuee ai wa becmi keepuna du uba. Jeejee caiot bapheu uba, jeejee caiot bapheu uba, jeejee caiot woy uba wa killee, hatkocanh uba doth chalanh du da? «I see more than a simple blaster in you. We can hone you, we can sharpen you, we can make you a killer, would you be interested in that?»

The Hutt had spoken in Huttese, and at that time Prudii hadn't understood a word of it. However there had been a poorly painted green protocol droid standing beside him that had earlier inquired about Prudii's native tongue, specifically mando'a or basic. Prudii had told him basic, and thus the droid had transferred all of the pertinent words from the Hutt into basic for him.

"I... I am.. yes..."

Those had been the words that sealed his fate for the next three plus years. It had been half a year before the Hutts had been able to use Prudii for anything profitable. Those months had been spent in training, converting the young thin boy into something more dangerous. Exercising him, training him, and outfitting him improved weapons and armor. Now here he was three years later, still in the service of the Hutts.

Prudii hopped on the first transport off world, which took him deep into the Outer Rim. There he bounced around, riding transport from world to world taking on small jobs. He made a bit of a name for himself as a hired gun with a lackluster moral compass. While bouncing around Prudii found himself on Nal Hutta. Shortly after arriving Prudii was hired by Majordomo Nor'baal for a series of debt collections and bounties. The Hutt was pleased with his results, and hired him on regular for a number of years for varying jobs between a bodyguard to a debt collector to a bounty hunter. While in Nor'baal's employment Prudii was trained by the Hutt's security specialists. Weapons were bought for him, and new armor pieces procured when he outgrew his previous pieces, imported from Mandalore.

Move to Chandrila
After years in the service of Nor'baal the Hutt paid for and secured him a spot on a transport ship bound for Chandrila, the capital of the Republic, where Prudii would grow in skill and begin taking on higher jobs. While on Chandrila Prudii purchased his first ship, using credits from his service to the Hutt, and from jobs on Chandrila. A Lethisk-Class Armed Freighter, christened The Nova. He had the ship outfitted to his very specific demands to fit his needs as a mercenary and bounty hunter. Upon staying on Chandrila for a short period Prudii rather self sufficient.

PERSONALITY

Prudii in his personality is a very walled veiled person. He usually carries a sarcastic aggressive attitude with him wherever he goes. This sarcasm and aggression that lies on the outside of his personality though, is just a defense mechanism. He developed the personality that he displays to the rest of the world. A cold, callused individual with little care for anyone or anything. He keeps most things pent up, which causes him to have a smoldering hate and short temper most of the time. Having been dealt massive emotional blows as a child Prudii is rather tender and sensitive on the inside. He's constantly trying to find something to fill the void his parents left. Prudii suffers from clinically diagnosed mild-moderate depression. Due to his gruff exterior he has difficulty getting close to people, and when he does his short temper and self destructive tendencies often push them away. This feeds his depression, which plagues him when he isn't working. A psychiatrist he has recently been visiting on Chandrila has advised him to develop more relationships with people, a task very daunting to Prudii.

Prudii has developed a rather bad drinking habit, and could be classified as an alcoholic. The drinking problem, like many of his other personality flaws, stems directly from the loss of his parents. He has difficulty getting close to anyone in his life, due to the aforementioned issues, which just goes to feed this alcoholism.

Prudii is a rather quiet person, and rarely is talkative or outgoing. he is professional on jobs, and a very serious person.

Prudii holds a rather large grudge against the border alliance for the loss of his father.
