BIOGRAPHY

ZANNAH was a red-skinned Sith born on the sacred world of Korriban. Like other members of her species, Zannah was born with a strong affinity for the dark side of the Force. From the time she could walk onward, she was trained to be a deadly Sith warrior and was brought up to be fanatically loyal to the reigning Sith dynasty. However, her fanatical education was challenged as the divide between the original Sith worlds—in what became known as the Old Empire—became more stark with the Core Worlds of the Empire. Ultimately, Zannah chose to remain loyal to the rebellious emperor who sat the throne on Korriban, believing that it was strength, not bloodline, that set the Sith Empire apart from its ancient enemies in the Jedi Order.

But it quickly became apparent that a lack of strength was not the only cancer spreading through the Sith Order. As Zannah fought in the Sith Civil War, it was revealed that the Jedi had survived their apparent extinction some five centuries prior and had returned at the head of a rebellion against the Empire. Zannah was infuriated at her Order's short-sightedness. Their petty bickering, and the lavishness of the Core systems, had prevented them for completing their most important mandate: the extermination of the Jedi Order. The straw that broke the camel's back came when Darth Vrael, the self-proclaimed emperor of the Old Empire, defeated Lyanna Drast, head of the Imperial Republica, in a duel over the fate of the Empire. Despite talks of "strength," another Drast had taken the mantle of ruler in a pitiful duel barely worthy of the name kaggath.

Zannah came to secretly despise the Drast family, believing that, while its founder was certainly worthy of the name "Sith," its progeny had grown complacent, shortsighted, and weak as a result of the boons of her success. When Varyn Rask took the throne, she saw an opportunity for the Sith Order to recover. However, whatever hope she had was crushed by the rise of the Mandalorians and the new Emperor's willingness to negotiate with them rather than outright destroy them. Her assessment of the new Empire ultimately proved correct, as the Mandalorians waged total war on the Sith, dissolving their once mighty Empire and all but eradicating the last of their Order. Zannah herself was injured by the Mandalorians during the Sith retreat to their last remaining worlds. Her face was so disfigured by the attack that she was forced to encase herself within a special armor to conceal her horrific injuries.

The armor became a prison and, all the while, Zannah's hatred for the Sith, the Jedi, and the Mandalorians grew. She was no longer content to just remain an acolyte spurned to remain in the shadows of a crumbling Order. Instead, she emerged from the shadows—a dark warrior clad in black armor—to take action, determined to seize power, grow stronger, and do whatever she could to seek revenge against her enemies, and the enemies of the Sith Order, while she still drew breath. She treated this as her mandate, even if it was self-inflicted, and resolved never to rest in that charge until the work was done or she had joined her ancestors in the Netherworld of the Force.

PERSONALITY & TRAITS

Prior to her injuries, Zannah was a slender, red-skinned Sith woman with long black hair and smoldering golden eyes. She wore typical black Sith robes over what appeared to be a chainmail-like armor. Perhaps due to human blood somewhere in her ancestry, Zannah lacked the ridges and face tentacles that her species was often known for. She also chose not to wear the ceremonial jewelry on her face that many Sith women adopted.

Her face was horribly scarred by a Mandalorian attack during the fragmentation of the Sith Empire. This deepened her connection to the dark side, turning her eyes scarlet. She hid these injuries behind an imposing suit of functionless Sith Marauder armor, which she rarely removed. The armor's helmet distorted her voice, giving it an almost robotic edge. The damage done to her face and throat also caused her to wheeze and rasp, which, when enhanced by the helmet's audio functions, made a deep and unsettling sound.

Before her injuries, Zannah was fanatically loyal to the Sith Empire and the Drast dynasty. The Sith species had legends about Andraste, the dynasty's founder, and her Dark Jedi who acted as Dark Lords and gods to the ancient Sith. In many ways, Zannah idolized Andraste's strength and ferocity, as well as her capabilities as a military and political figure. However, she was less than perfect in the imitation of her childhood heroes and tended to be arrogant, haughty, and impulsive. Over time, she came to value the strength she saw embodied in Darth Vrael and sided with the Old Empire, believing that it was the old Sith worlds that the original Sith Lords would have sided with. However, the reigns of Vrael, Lyanna Drast in the Core, and Varyn Rask damaged her heroic view of the dynasty and the Sith. She came to believe that the comfort and lavish lifestyles that royalty had granted the Drasts weakened the Sith Empire overall, which allowed the Mandalorians to overpower and defeat them.

The injuries she suffered at the hands of Mandalorian warriors during the Empire's collapse fundamentally changed Zannah. Her defeat demonstrated that the weakness she had seen in the Sith had infected her, as well, and she devoted herself to the expansion of her own power and the deepening of her relationship to the dark side of the Force—viewing this as a remedy for her own inner weakness. Her arrogant streak disappeared behind a cold and ruthless facade, and she became devoid of all mercy, as well as completely intollerant of weakness and failure, even in herself. The new Zannah forsook personal romantic relationships, believing them to be weaknesses that would hold her down, and even developed an indifference towards sentient life to the point in which she could kill without remorse. She became utterly tenacious, driven to the point of self-endangerment if it meant the accomplishment of her goals, and was not above using torture if the situation required it.

Though she despised the Mandalorians, Zannah gained a grudging respect for their willingness to charge headfirst into battle regardless of the dangers. She reviled what she saw as a weakness in the Sith Order—and unwillingness to enter battle when the need was there—and so she set herself apart from these weaker Sith by being willing to lead from the frontlines. She shrugged off the manipulative and political nature of the Imperial Republica in favor of a direct, forceful approach, believing that the weakened Sith Order was in sore need of a "fist," not a "voice." That said, she did not forsake deep meditations or reflections on the lore of the Sith Order, believing that both were vital for preserving the Order that Andraste first set into motion centuries prior. Though her hero worship had been tempered by her injuries, Zannah still held respect for the ancient Dark Lady of the Sith and sought to embody the teachings she first set down five centuries ago.

POWERS & ABILITIES

Zannah is a Sith warrior with a strong connection to the dark side of the Force and abilities comparable to that of a Jedi Knight. Notable for her more physical take on Sith combat, she has not been seen using the Force lightning that has become a staple of the Sith Order. Indeed, she chooses not to use many of the more magical abilities displayed by some Sith, forsaking the practice of Sith magic and alchemy. Instead, she has focused all of her Force training into mastering the basics. For example, she can typically be seen using telekinesis in combat. Her signature use of this ability is to tekekinetically choke those who have displeased her. She can also erect Force barriers to shield herself from blaster fire or other dangerous physical attacks on her person.

She also has limited skills in mental manipulation. She prefers the use of the mind probe Force power because of its ability to inflict sharp mental pain on her victims. However, as a Sith warrior who is presently at the Knight-level, her effectiveness with this ability is currently limited to those beings with no training in protecting their mind from Force attacks. When interrogating enemies, Zannah also replies upon her fearsome appearance to frighten her victims into giving her the information she wants.

In combat, Zannah prefers the use of her lightsaber and she is trained in Form V combat. The lightsaber form makes use of her abnormal height and physical strength to turn a powerful defense into an equally powerful offense. Form V suits her to deflecting blaster bolts and overwhelming her enemies with bruit strength.

Outside of her Sith abilities, Zannah is a reasonable pilot and can get herself around the galaxy without the need of a pilot droid or an escort. She also has baseline mechanic skills, able to repair most basic damage to her belongings or her ship without the need of more specialized help. However, she lacks the mechanical abilities needed to make complex modifications to her equipment. She is fluent in both Galactic Basic Standard and the ancient Sith language, and can at least understand most of the common trade languages spoken in the Outer Rim Territories.
