First, welcome to swrp :) we hope youll enjoy your time with us and you enjoy slowly losing your life to this site.

Secondly, stop being Australian :CStern

You're making Boli aka Green Ranger feel less unique, and hes such a kind labradoodle.

Lastly. I enjoyed a lot of the comics that took place during the new galactic republic era. But that's just my preferred timeline. Just avoid anything that has Timothy Zahns name on it...

Awesome, I totally agree with you there, but trying to discern what comics for what era on Dark Horse's iPad app is freaking madness...! Still I'll continue to sift through.

Oh and.... Naw... I'm not a labradoodle fan, so I'll keep being Aussie... Heheh :CSly

Pfft, you New Zealand types are all the same. Yeah I just went there.

And I've never seen their app. Though from what I hear all the comic apps suck and dont do what they should rationally do, like have the most recent issues.

Oh wow.... Lol
You must know a few Aussies to be able to hit that button... Hah!
Nice one Frenchie...

As for the apps, Marvel is pretty good & on the ball with new releases, DC isn't far behind, though their app itself could use some work. Dark Horse, is a mess... But if I wana read the SW Comics & CBF going to hunt physical copies, it'll have to do.

Good to hear the apps are getting better. I may be getting an iPad soon.

Frenchie is acceptable, I would of also accepted Yank, or Britain's Kissass.

Psh, what are you talking about? Zahn was awesome. Or at least his books. I don't know anything about the comics.

Is there anywhere online one can read the comics by the way?

Wait, yeah it wasn't Zahn. It was one of them, the number of authors who write these books is too damn high!

I suggest Dark Times, Dawn of the Jedi, and Agents of the Empire.

I believe Dark Horse does online digital too, don't need an app/phone/tab, just interwebs.

I suggest Dark Times, Dawn of the Jedi, and Agents of the Empire.
Thanks! I just got the first couple; Dawn of the Jedi. Figured it was a good place to start.

Actually, considering only 1 issue is out so far, awful start.

It depends on what you want to read, largely; if you want Old Republic era; Tales of the Jedi, Knights of the Old Republic, and The Old Republic comics.

If you want Clone Wars era; Republic is the definitive issue, but there are at least half a dozen other smaller series that are decent and even more that aren't.

For Empire-era, you want Dark Times, set between the films. Star Wars: Empire is also fantastic. This turns in to Star Wars: Rebellion when it moves on to deal with Rebel-era stuff.

If you want New Jedi order, Star Wars: Invasion.

Umm... Actually... Check the Dark Horse digital site, you'll find; Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi #0 and Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi #1.
Almost had me second guessing myself there...

Otherwise, thank you for separating the other comic titles into the era's for me, much appreciated.

Tales of the Jedi are my favorite comics. Old Republic, but I have a particular fascination with Ulic Qel-Droma, Exar Kun, Mandalore the Indomitable, and Cay Qel-Droma. I've always felt that it would have made a better original trilogy than Luke's story, in my opinion. No matter what era it is, there's always a tragic and epic tale, but that's always been my favorite.

'Issue 0' was a pre-release encyclopaedic information issue about the setting. It isn't a real issue. Issue 1 is the only actual DotJ issue out so far.

Cool, I haven't started reading them yet, just grabbed them both, and when downloading them and looking at the "blurb" it makes them out to be propper comics. *shrug*

Tales of the Jedi is also pretty awesome, I probably should pick that up in trade backs.

The Clone Wars era I enjoyed was simply just called Clone Wars and that one trails some after Order 66, it carried the Quilian Vos story, and it led into Star Wars: Dark Times.

Knights of the Old Republic with Zayne Carrick was a good story until about issue 30-something, then I thought it had gotten really slow and boring. And I thought The Old Republic : Threat of Peace was pretty poor too and Jedi: The Dark Side was dull.

Do you get your copies locally or order them online?
The comic shops where i am are total rubish, and then the Australian online sites are always 'out of stock', so freaking annoying. Hence why i just go digital. But... Having hard copy is always so much better, -if- i can find somewhere to get hands on it.

While i did grab the Dawn of the Jedi, I've been getting right into SW:Invasion, i've always been keen to learn more about the Yuuzhan Vong War, so far not disappointed.
I did look at Jedi: The Dark Side, after reading the 'SW: Darth Maul' set, but didn't bother with it, as you say, dull was a very apt description.

Locally, we have two main ones, both highly competitive and their customers are either for one or the other, never both.

Supposedly Errant Knight is a good read, but I've been trying to stay away from Old Republic era comics.

Lucky! But you gave me an awesome idea; i emailed my friends in LA and told them they need to find a comic shop, gave them a nice list of comics to hunt down and mail over to West Aus. Mwahahah.

I'm hammering through SW: Invasion, but not sure what to read after im done with that one. Hrm.
