Nar Shaddaa, 12:00 local time, inner-city commerce district

Inès didn't have anything to do today, so after throwing up some tags here and there for the hell of it, she had wandered her way down into the noon markets. There were a lot of people about, going about their day, window-shopping, or actually browsing through goods. It was pretty loud around the area too; there was a good mix of basic and huttese, but every few minutes her ears would catch the sound of some strange language. There was a reason Nar Shaddaa was often called "little Coruscant." It was a melting pot of cultures and crime.

Though she hadn't made plans to head over here on this particular day, there were a few things she had her differently-colored eyes out on the lookout for if she caught sight of them. Unless she spotted them or somethings similar though, the twi'lek continued to just browse, sauntering around with her hands deep in her jacket's pockets.

"There's a new vendor settin' up up north a bit." Overhearing some chatter, Inès glanced over to see another twi'lek woman speaking with a zabrak woman she was strolling with. "He's an off-worlder. Got some nice stock, though."

"An off-worlder?" Curious more than anything else, Inès headed off "north" to see if she could spot this off-worlder.

Max looked at the man that had just walked up to his counter. Well, It wasn't really a counter, more like a cart, but he didn't mind that. "I'll get uhh, the regular!" The man said. "Coming right up, that will be... 3 credits Please." Max responded. J1-KC, his droid manning the regular cart, dispensed a round bottle. He handed it to the man as the man put the 3 creds on the "counter."

"Have a good day!" Max said as the man walked off. Today had been a great day for selling, he already sealed 50 drinks since his arrival. He had been scared that someone would have recognized his Tie SH shuttle Tie, landing at the port and thought he was imperial, but that was far from the truth. He knew how the people here responded to imperials, and he didn't want to get mistaken for one.

He looked back at his R1 Security droid. "this place is awesome!" Max said to it. The droid beeped an affirmative, its large head scanning the area for potential criminals, as usual. It spotted someone coming over, and it said in droidspeak, "Looks like you have another customer."

Inès approached the cart just in time to catch Max's last exchange. It appeared to be some sort of drinks vendor selling drinks out of his little droid. It was a cute little idea, she thought, though she was curious how long it would take for him to get swindled. "Or maybe he already has." While not in the literal sense, off-worlders had a stench to them, and Nar Shaddaa natives could sniff them out like bloodhounds.

On a better (or worse) day, Inès would probably be the one to try and swindle this dude. Maybe she still would, if the whim struck her. But she was feeling more chatty than mischievous at the moment, so she approached with a smile.

"What'cha got for sale? Drinks, right? What sorts?" She'd wait for Max to list them off, then order whichever was the first option on that list (assuming there was one). While the droid dispensed the drink, Inès would reach up and unzip a pocket on her jacket, pluck out three creds that had clearly seen many hands, and click! them down onto the counter of his little cart with two fingers and a thumb.

"Where you from?"

"Scarif." Max said. "My parents moved there and had me." He was fine with giving this info away, becasue nobody even knew scarif existed in the first place. He wasnt lying, he lived on the only non imperial outpost on the planet, there was literaly no other citizens.

He took the old creds of the table and put them in his pocket. Another customer walked up, and she pushed Ines aside. She hit one of the 3 carts lined up. The droid controlling the cart beeped angerly. His R1 droid stared at the new girl. "Yo, Chill out will you?" Max said to her. "Sorry." She said sarcastically. "I'll take a fizzy drink." Max handed her the drink as Max took her credits. "People these days.." Max mumbled. He looked at Ines who was alreasy on her feet. "You good?" Max hoped the other girl would walk away faster, to avoid a fight. "Sorry! I- Sorry about her." Max stuttred. To be honest, he didn't even know what to say, as he didnt really know how to deal with customers being rude to other customers, as it had never happened before.

"Scarif?" Did she know where that was? "...no, no idea." There were thousands of planets in the galaxy. It'd be impossible to have heard of all of them; it was hard enough to remember all the important ones. "Ah, dope, dope."

Inès was about to grab her drink from the droid when someone shoulder-checked her. The twi'lek must've been off balance since the shove sent her tripping over into another cart, angering the droid that was running it. "Shit!" she cursed, struggling for a second to get her balance back. Ignoring the droid chastising her in binary, Inès turned to give whoever had shoved her a piece of her mind. Her fists were balled up, and she was more than ready to treat the disrespect with violence. "Hey asshole, you tryna- "

Max spoke again before she could finish, and Inès paused to glance over at him. He was apologizing?

"Nah, you're cool, dude. Don't apologize for shit like that. It ain't your fault." She relaxed — though she still had half a mind to go bash that girl's head in — and finally got ahold of the drink she'd paid for earlier. The woman gripped the bottle in her palm and broke the seal on the plastic cap in one go before putting the bottle up to her lips and taking a drink. A cola flavor with a twinge of cherry hit her tastebuds, followed immediately by the sharp texture of the carbonation. The look on Inès' face was enough for Max to know she approved.

"So, Scarif, huh? What brings you to Nar Shaddaa of all places?"

"The money." Max said, simply. "I've been to many planets, in search of it." He waved his hand and His R1 security droid Hovered over to him. "I've found that This stuff sells really well." He thought for a moment "actually, I guess it's not just the money. I like traveling and... stuff." He pressed a button on the side of the droid and a large leaf fell out. Max caught it, ripped off a pice and started chewing. "Scarif is a nice place though." He said. "Beautiful beaches and wildlife." Max frowned.

"It was like a paradise until the shitty empire came and wrecked all of our crops and demanded tax pay from us." He ripped off another pice of leaf, and plopped it into his mouth. He looked over Ines's shoulder and frowned. There was a large alien walking towards them, He couldn't tell what type it was because of his large hood. But what he could see was the eyes, staring right at them. "Yo, You know that dude?"

The alien strode toward them, and Max could tell he didn't want a drink. The droid serving frizzy drinks must have noticed the alien too, and he warbled nervously.

"Mm, money," she hummed in twileki. Yeah, she got that. A lot of her moves recently had been influenced by the need for dough. It was becoming kind of a cycle for her: do a couple of jobs then do jack-shit for as long as she could manage. "Fair n'ough," she responded back in basic.

"Travel?" While she had been off Nar Shaddaa before, it'd really only been for jobs. She'd not gotten to experience the luxury of travel for the hell of travel. At the mention of the Empire, her face soured. "Yeah, screw 'em." Inès didn't like them for other reasons, but she'd admit that sounded like a crap situation for him and his people.

He finished talking, and Inès was about to take another sip of her fun little fizzy drink when she noticed his eyes lock onto something behind her. She was already turning to look as he asked if she knew who it was. Upon spotting the figure though, her eyes narrowed. "I'm hopin' not," she answered, her voice low as she reached into her pocket on the side the hooded figure couldn't see.

The chances of someone starting shit in the middle of a crowded place like this was lower, but certainly not low.

As the alien strode toward them, some of the other vendors in the area began to tense up. A few just straight up dipped.

Max grimaced as the big guy approached. He saw everybody else leave. He wondered if he was gonna get robbed or something. He put one hand in one of his large coat pockets. "You want a drink?" Max asked. The alien didn't respond, instead walking up to Ines. Max could hear what the alien said next, as he spoke in a quiet tone. His R1 droid warbled and hovered closer to the counter, ready to stop any confrontation that would undboutibly occur.

He gripped the hole of his blaster when he heard the tone of the aliens voice start to escalate. 'I need to get out of here..." Max thought, looking around for a way to escape. But, Max looked back at Ines. Should they fight, would he just leave? Or try to help. Usually he would help out of good will, but what if this guy was connected to the hunts or something? He didn't want to get on their bad side, as he sells them drinks regularly.

Max tensed as the alien's tone escalated to pure anger. What had Ines done?

"You, punk, did you vandalize the side of my building?" The alien walked right up to Inès, close enough that she could see the face under the hood. It was a kel'dor, middle-aged and uglier than usual from sun damage, and he glared down at her from his beady little black eyes. Inès simply raised an eyebrow, then took a long sip of her drink before she responded.

Lips spreading into a grin, revealing her sharp teeth, the twi'lek said the first thing that came to mind. "I've tagged a lot of places, Ugly. You're gonna have to be more specific if- "

Before she could finish, the kel'dor thrust a finger behind him, gesturing rudely somewhere in the direction he'd come from. Inès lazily leaned to one side to follow his gesture. "Ah, right. The corner store." She'd throw her tag up there earlier today. Her grin widened. The wall had just been painted over yesterday and she'd gotten to be the first one to mess up that perfectly new, pristine wall. Ugly deserved it anyways. "Yeah, no idea. Plus, you can't prove shit- "

"Listen here, you little shit- " His hand shot out and gripped Inès by the front of her jacket and yanked her forward, his voice irate. There was a glint of anger in her eyes, and before Ugly could finish, he had let her go to anguish over the knee that had just struck him in the family jewels. "AUGH!"

Inès spit on the ground before him, disgust clearly outlined on her indigo features. "Crawl back to your little store, snitch, and be happy a little graffiti is the only thing that's happened to your store so far."

The alien started to get back up warbling. He pulled out a blaster and aimed it at her face. "Your gonna regret that you little shit!" He roared. Suddeny, a cart with the word, Fizzy on the side with a little green astromech controling it slammed unto him. He got rocketed back, and his a brick wall. The cart spun around, facing him.

Max ducked ad the alien shot his blater in random directions. People scattered and Max hid behind the regular cart, pulling out his blaster and shooting back haphazardly. The R1 secutiry droid charged up his cannon to fire it at the alien.

The alien pushed the cart aside, the droid squealing. The Diet cart, started up and zoomed towards the alien. Max jumped on top of it, and started to shoot his blaster at the large alien The Regular cart, turned, ready to smash into the alien.

The Alien screamed. "AHHHH!" He grabbed the cart max was on and flipped it. Max tumbled off and the droid squealed.

"Oh shit." Inès didn't expect him to recover so quickly. The world seemed to slow down, seconds becoming minutes, as the kel'dor whipped out a blaster and aimed the barrel directly toward her head. Her heart went from a resting rate to beating nearly out of her chest in a moment as the adrenaline kicked in. Her body tensed — fight or flight — as she prepared to react. But before she could, or before she got shot, the kel'dor was bodied by a cart and thrown several meters away into a brick wall.

Her brain fast-forwarded to real-time just as the chaos began to erupt around her. Having half a mind to get to cover, she rolled behind the cart with Max just as the kel'dor began spraying blaster bolts left and right. The alien approached, the cart was flipped aside, and suddenly the fight was right up in her face again.

Before the kel'dor could descend upon Max or herself, there was a pitched whine and a flash of red. Inès had pulled out her own blaster while she'd been crouched down behind the cart with Max, and when the alien exposed himself while flipping the cart, she'd fired off two shots directly into his lower abdomen. They didn't kill him, but he was incapacitated almost instantly. His hands went to his stomach and he collapsed onto his knees, groaning.

Inès dramatically blew the smoke off the hot barrel of her pistol, then glanced over at Max. "You alright?" shed asked in Basic. She'd offer him her free hand to help him up on her feet. "Sorry 'bout all that. Mans must've been off a pill to react like that."

The twi'lek holstered her blaster back into her jacket and glanced back over at the alien. Nar Shaddaa's equivalent of authorities had arrived by now, looking annoyed, but also pleased that the situation had dealt with itself. They grabbed the kel'dor and began to drag him away.

"Right, I don't think I caught a name? I'm Inès."

Max wiped the dirt off his face with his blaster hand before holstering it. "I'm Max." He said and smiled. "Nice job there. you had some real quick thinking." The two upright droid carts had pushed the third upright. Max sighed. He guessed selling day was over. "You guys can head back to the ship." Max said to his droids. The 3 carts zoomed away and around a corner, hi r1 droid staying behind.

"So, you just spray painted his store?"
Max asked. "You are right, that was a wild reaction." He looked at the street, not bustling with people again after the alien got dragged away. "He ruined the rest of the day though. Now I have nothing to do." He sighed. "Did you at least enjoy your drink?"

"Thanks, Max," she grinned. "And yeah. Probably would've done it anyway, but snitches get stitches- " She laughed. "- or in this case, snitches get sprayed up, figuratively and literally."

If he knew, he knew. If not, well, it wasn't that big of a deal. Some hungry kids swiped something and he snitched to the guards rather than just letting it slide or dealing with it himself. That was a hell of a no-go.

"Yeah, the drink was pretty good! Don't think I've had a cherry-flavored cola before," she affirmed with a hum and a nod of her head. "But if you've got nothing else to do, why don't you come with me? I was gonna go grab a bite to eat and, if ya don't mind, I'd like to hear about your homeworld. I ain't ever really been off Nar Shaddaa - not for anything but work, 'least."

If he agreed, she'd lead him toward her favorite Induparian food joint.

Max laughed too, glad to have something to laugh at after that fight. He thought about what she said as well. 'Snitches get stitches?' Max thought. He assumed that somebody probably did something bad for the greater good, but that guy told on them. He didn't like those types of people, he saw them as some sort of evil gatekeeper. He assumed that people like that were looked down upon where he was, and he couldn't blame them.

"Um, sure!!" Max said and smiled. He was getting hungry anyway and had no where to eat. "I'm getting hungry anyway. where were you thinking of going?" He was a fan of most foods, but his mouth always got watery when he thought of sandwiches. Especially when they had meat or exotic peppers in them. "It better serve meat!" He said, only half joking.
