DESCRIPTION
The CR-10 was one of the first capital ships put on the open market by the fledgling Corellian Engineering Corporation, and its modular design will set the standard for the companies products for many centuries to come. Developed near the onset of the hundred years darkness, the CR-10 was primarily marketed as an adaptable systems patrol vessel for regional governments. The ships modularity, able to fill multiple roles at a number of price points, made it popular among a wide customer base. The corvette is a common sight in the core and colonies, acting as system defense vessels either alone or in pairs, as well as as customs ships in more heavily populated regions, and as light war vessels in standing navies- some backwater wworlds field them as prized capital ships, and a scant few have found their way into the hands of pirates and marauders, operating as feared vessels indeed in the rim. The base model comes equipped with respectable twin dual heavy laser turrets and eight smaller laser cannons, allowing it to pump out impressive amounts of fire. This armament, along with its shields and maneuverability, make it a highly formidable vessel against the most common freighters and Starfighters in the galaxy, though it is no substitute for a fully armed ship of the line. The base configuration is highly modular, allowing the ship to trade weapons and defenses for passenger and cargo capacity, or even stripped down versions for local governments lacking unnecessary features such as a hyperdrive and long range communications.
