DESCRIPTION
The Contemptuous-class dungeon ship, commonly referred to as simply the Imperial Dungeon Ship, is a type of mobile prison employed by the Sith Empire to hold and transport dangerous criminals to and from the Empire's many penal colonies and other correctional facilities. Widely regarded as one of the worst places a being can end up, the Contemptuous lives up to its reputation quite well.Large, boxy and solidly built, the Contemptuous can carry up to 252 inmates in modular containment cells, plus 10 more in special maximum security cells deep in the bowels of the ship. The ship has a crew of 60, including 15 bridge crew, 35 guards and 10 other personnel, including administrative staff. Other facilities include state-of-the-art interrogation facilities to draw information and confessions out of prisoners, and medical facilities for when the methods of questioning go a bit too far. After all, a dead prisoner can't work in a penal colony.
The Contemptuous' defensive armament includes 4 heavy turbolasers, as well as 8 dual autoblaster turrets, effective against most attackers and reinforced by heavy shields. Nevertheless, such vessels often travel with several corvettes in escort. Internal security is of course tight; holocams and blast doors monitor and can seal off at a moment's notice almost every corridor and open area, and all crucial intersections are equipped with remotely operated dual stun blaster turret. In 200 years of service, no Contemptuous-class dungeon ship has ever had a successful riot.
