While I was never a big fan of how he did things(especially the world trade thingy) I still felt sorry for his death. He after all, will always remain a hero in the eyes of most Arabs.

If that's true (and I sincerely doubt it is), most Arabs are idiots. Heroes don't kill civilians.

The American army killed civilians as well in Iraq, and Afghanistan. Of course not mentioning that they supply Israel with weapons that they use to kill Palestinian citizens.

Or is it only not a crime to kill citizens when they are Arabs?

I strongly doubt most Arabs think that Osama is a hero. After all, al-Qaeda is hardly friends with a significant proportion of Muslims...

Um, terrorist groups kill more civilians in their attacks than their intended targets (American soldiers), so that is unlikely to make the common people love them.

Actually he was a hero for a lot Arabs. I only noticed that he was killed when I woke up and noticed that my fb was flooded with people mourning Bin ladin's death and people mourning his death all over.

I know a lot of people here did not like some of his ways, but still what he did is nothing compared to what the American Army has been doing for quit some time now.

to be honest, i think its quite sad :/. Sure its great hes dead but....

its gonna mark a major escalation of the middle eastern crisis.

Calling it now -

America says mission accomplish and pulls out of afgahnistan. Pakistan goes into civil war. Afgahistan goes to civil war aswell due to major taliban offensive(s) in the region.

oh well.

I never said the American army is all heroes. The American army is made up of many thousands of people. Some of them are heroes, while some of them have become corrupt or sadistic or both. Most of them are probably just average people doing their jobs. It's the same way with the Canadian Forces, and with almost any other army.

In my opinion, Israel should never have been created as a country because it wasn't fair to the Arabs living in that area. It should also be showing much more restraint with the superior military power it holds over its neighbours, because as you said, civilian casualties are frighteningly high in Palestine, just as they were before in Lebanon, etc. Nevertheless it's important to remember Israel is defending itself. It's not like Israel is the aggressor, it's always the one being attacked. Whether we like it or not, Israel has existed as a nation for years now and the Israeli people aren't going anywhere, therefore they have to defend themselves when they're attacked. I wish they'd use more precision and less brute force when defending themselves, but I recognize that that's not easy.

Regardless, none of that is relevant to Osama bin Laden's status as a terrorist and a mass murderer. He was the leader of a group responsible for killing thousands of innocent civilians in the West, as well as torturing/killing/raping thousands of civilians in the Middle East. Pointing to the crimes committed by a minority among his enemies doesn't justify his actions. He is the furthest thing from a hero.

This thread disgusts me. People are celebrating a man's death. Doesn't matter what he did in his life, a life is a life.

Actually, it does matter what he did in his life. Justice is worthy of celebration.

I would love to see the birthers now. Their bullshit sounds even more petty now.

Except they have nothing to do with each other.

What we do with our lives define us. This man chose mass murder, violence, intolerance, and the twisting of a religion's message as a tool for evil. His death makes the world a little better, a little brighter. There is nothing to mourn here. I celebrate that justice has been brought to a man who gave nothing to the world, but pain and suffering and loss.

Lolwut? The world is not miraculously ****ing better because a man was murdered. And there is something to mourn, the loss of a life. Even if you personally dislike this man, or even hate him, there are people out there who loved him and will mourn his passing. While I bear no like towards the man, it is still a tragedy that a life was taken away. One life that was taken in the name of "justice" is nothing compared to the civilian casualties that occurred in the process. This entire war has just been a shitstorm of how fast can people lose their humanities.

Removing a terrorist, a murderer, does make the world a better place, if only a little. The loss of his life is nothing to mourn, but something to celebrate for he committed his life towards violence and hate and death. I do not know where you live or how old you are, but I remember September 11th, watching the Twin Towers falling and 3,000 fellow Americans die. This was the mastermind, the man responsible, the man who declared war on us. Very few will mourn him and fewer still loved him. His own family disowned him. You speak of the loss of humanity, his man had no humanity. Not for Amercians, not for Spanish, not for Brits, and not even for his fellow Muslims. Muslims being the ones who have suffered the most from his fellowers' suicide bombings. Now this monster, the face of evil in our time, is dead. Joy is what I feel. I wish I could dance on his grave.
