Intent: To make a distinctive Mandalorian small arms weapon, that is the "bread and butter" of Mandalorians in this timeline. Something that is solid, dependable and powerful, but exotic compared to more cosmopolitan designs in the galaxy. Also to expand the catalogue of Concordian Crescent Technologies items.

Description: The Nova 67 is a prototype blaster carbine produced by Concordian Crescent Technologies, currently only available in limited numbers to select clients within Mandalorian space. It combines a sleek, no-nonsense design with powerful blaster bolts and an excellent shot capacity before it requires a recharge. The Nova 67 has no externally inserted power cell like it's contemporaries, instead relying on an internal, rechargeable power cell, although it's gas canister does require replacement after it has been exhausted ( est: 5000 shots before the gas canister requires refilling ). This lack of traditional power cell was designed to meet the needs of Mandalore's jet pack using Protectors, who required a weapon that obviated traditional reloading requirements. The weapon can, instead, be recharged from a jetpack's fuel cell via a connecting cable, although this is a danger to the user in combat, so in-combat recharging is highly discouraged.
While 50 shots is in the upper end of the current market, the Nova 67 has sacrificed in other areas. For example, it is prone to overheating after repeat firing, namely after seven successive shots, requiring a few seconds to cool down to a safe temperature. This heat problem makes the weapon hard to use, as heat shielding is minimal on the grip surfaces, being designed for glove and gauntlet wearing Mandalorians instead of traditional users.
This defect is made up for, however, in the blaster bolt's ability to impact phenomenal kinetic force. A direct hit from this weapon is able to send a human male-sized target flying 15 feet or more. The actual penetrative power of the bolts however, is on par with other more typical blasters.
Like other carbines, the Nova 67 is also a semi-automatic weapon, making it's successive firing problem all the more exacerbated, although the stopping power in the Nova's yellow bolts make up for the relatively low volume of fire it's heat sink problem causes. The carbine also lacks a stock, making aimed fire somewhat more troublesome, as is the complete lack of sighting equipment. It is however, due to it's small size, exceptional in close quarters, and it's low weight and ability to be recharged from a jetpack's fuel cell, alongside it's excellent stopping power makes it ideal for the highly mobile warfare Mandalorians practice.
