Theme

Allard didn't really like spending too much time on Ord Mantell - his wife was on Ord Mantell and she was beginning to become a bit of a pain in the backside if he was honest with himself. Their child? Not so much, but Daesha had become a bit different since complications during childbirth had all but forced her to retire from the smuggling game.

Made it odd but perfectly understandable why Allard had called to meet with Chris at the Cruel Mistress cantina rather than the Keever homestead.

Plus, he wasn't working this job alone and had invited Eice and Herrith along as well. And he was loath to expose Daesha's friends to her while she was still so very hormonal and likely to slap them both for any kind of slight, real or imagined.

Probably pull Eice's tail off and whip Herrith with it or something.

Either way, he was dressed and armed in his combat armour, as he typically was since the Galaxy had gone crazy and gone to war with itself.

A drink was required these days.

Chris, dressed in his usual combat attire as well due to the chaos of the times, ordered his own drink and sat down. He was starting to get tired of all this, so when Allard had requested just information and not to come along, that sounded just fine to him. As for what exactly the man was planning, well, it was interesting. He'd definitely want to see if he could pull it off. He'd brought the information that was needed, hell, he'd compiled everything he knew about...well, anything, to be honest. It was something his father had done and he could see the wisdom in it. Ordering his own drink, to the confused look of some, he sat down alongside Allard and waited for the others to arrive. He hoped this wouldn't take long. Was this feeling of exhaustion what it meant to start getting old? Or perhaps was it just too much having happened in too short a time? Maybe he had finally found his limit and it was time to stop pressing.

Ord Mantell was the sort of place you went, if you just did not want to be found, and Vorn Thracken was desperatly in need of some peace and quiet. Ever since his latest failed job, he had considered himself a down and out, down on his luck, and pretty much bang out of options. The Cruel Mistress Cantina was the ideal place he thought, to drown his sorrows, and just allow life to wind down for a bit.

Pulling up a stool next to the main bar, he waved down the many-armed Barman (multiple arms being a requirement for some of the more exotic beverages) and made his order "Pan-Galactic Gargle-Blaster my good man," he asked, noting how the barmans eyes widened, with a subtle blend of shock and awe "...neat."

As if there was any other way to have it?

With his drink in one hand and his other resting by his TS 2-Shot on instinct, Allard smiled a little bit as Chris approached. While it was good to see the mechanical man again, it was a little bit sad as well. There was just a sadness about him that sank home deeply.

His friend looked... done.

"You look tired Chris." He noted conversationally, frowning slightly as he said it, "Time to think about hanging it up?"

Sipping at his drink, he shook his head a little bit before nodding to his friend,

"Chris...thank you. For trusting me with this, you know?" He smiled a little bit more openly this time, "I'll make sure to take good care of it... see the past through your eyes."

He held his hand out for Chris, his other still hovering by his weapon. He didn't even look alert- such was his experience as a fighter and smuggler.

Herrith entered the building, immediately seeing her friends off at a corner table inside the Cruel Mistress. Poor Daesha had been off recovering from her rather chaotic pregnancy--she didn't blame her for it, but at the same time it was another complication to deal with in the greater threat of simply existing as a smuggler. She was dressed in what she normally wore, the light armor and weapons easily tucked into her jacket and hardly making any restriction as she approached Allard and Christopher, sliding a credit chip down past a bartender and swooping up a glass of whiskey.

The Zeltron downed a sip, noticing she had come in right in the middle of a conversation and realizing that the droid did in fact look rather exhausted, an expression she didn't think possible on a mechanical face until now. She decided to lean against the booth, smiling as she readjusted her footing and scanned the bar out of curiosity for who exactly they were expecting as a show for today. After all, it was late enough for the heavy drinkers to start some roughness, and she enjoyed spectating fights here and there. That was, of course, if the group was staying here long enough.

"Evenin'. Glad I'm not the latest to the party."

She eyed the two, looking for some kind of odd tension that was there for no reason. This just felt so--impersonal compared to what things used to be. Way back when.

Eice slunk into the bar warily, or at least as much as a girl of her height and build could be seen to slink. She had been called there by Allard, and these days she as much expected a trap as a friendly meeting. Not from Allard, per se - she had grown to like and trust him over the past few months - but she had been screening her comms in general of late.

There was an old Alsakan curse: "may you live in interesting times." Well, these times certainly counted as interesting.

Eice wore her standard flight suit, with a hip-pack and two overt holsters, each containing a DM-T Foe-Remover pulse-wave pistol. The hip-pack was strapped over her lower back, and contained about a dozen spare power-packs, as well as Eice's last-ditch backup, a P1 slug revolver and about twenty loose rounds for it, not including the five in the cylinder. On any other world, it all would have gotten her some odd looks, but this was Ord Mantell, and as such it barely raised an eyebrow from passers by.

Spotting Allard at the bar, Eice brightened a bit, scurrying over and climbing up into a bar-stool beside him. Once there, she noticed Chris and Herrith, and gave a friendly smile and a wave to her other friends.

"Hey guys! Sorry I'm late..."

One of the newcomers was clearly packing heat, and as Vorn polished off his Pan-Galactic Gargle-Blaster, he couldn't help but notice just how heavily armed the newcomers in the bar where. Subconciously, he dropped his hand to his own pistol, calling for another drink - a Bantha-Spliced Twofold Injunction.

He had no idea what that even meant, only that it had several different types of spirits in it. "You seem to be packing rather heavily," Vorn commented to Frex, eying the small creature up and down as he did so "...not looking to cause trouble I hope?"

It was nice to see Herrith and Eice here, the two having become friends after all the time he'd been around the galaxy. The datacard in his palm, hidden from the view of others, he shook Allard's extended hand. He could feel the card leave his hand and enter his friend's grasp, an incredibly subtle maneuver that looked just like a handshake. He didn't need to say what was on the card, as he'd already said it, and he knew that Allard would find the contents very interesting. He broke the handshake naturally when the other man looked to start harassing Eice, almost making the droid chuckle. He knew how strong Eice was and thought it was a bit hypocritical that he'd say she was looking for a fight when Chris was wearing his full heavy armor, crimson with a draconic flair. Still, he had to keep the man's attention for now. "You can't be too careful these days. You know how many bars that have just erupted in blaster fire at the drop of a hat? Too many more than what I wanted to be in, and without my own armor and weapons. If you don't want trouble then just mind your own business." He leaned back as he spoke, hand sliding down over his own blaster pistol. Hopefully the man would either leave well enough alone or pick on someone his own size. It would be his choice.

Herrith was here.

The pink-wonder showing up was always something that Allard looked forward to - especially on Ord Mantell! Brought back memories of their time together taking the warehouse for Daesha in the first place. And then Eice showed and Allard smiled a little easier. Eice was a fun friend to have around and he was glad that she had showed up - he would have hated to waste the planned toast.

"Herrith! Eice!" he winked at them both, "Lovely to see you again ladies - especially without my wife around to slap me for saying so."

But he hadn't actually shaken Chris' hand yet!

He shook Chris' hand while his other rested just touching his own weapon. Smiling, he accepted the datachip from Chris with barely any movement, the chip sliding into his sleeve in a feet of trick of the eye movement that one only learnt when one was their level of experience.

Holding his blaster idly, having drawn it as he pulled back from the handshake, it was hidden by his body but pointed directly at Vorn's side. As he did this, he dipped his other hand into his pocket, depositing the datachip while still appearing to be relaxing,

"Let's all just relax and enjoy our drinks, friend." he suggested with a small smile, "We here are friends looking to reconnect. You know how these things go - the Galaxy keeps us apart for too long."

He moved his now free hand so that it rested comfortably on Eice's back.

"So let's all just relax... and stop asking questions we really all know the answer to." he smirked, "We all like a drink and a pretty young woman has to defend herself, you know?"

Herrith gave a dismissive wave to Eice being late. She was only here earlier by a few moments. It hardly mattered that much. The greetings were made, and she returned respective responses. It seemed that one of the bargoers had taken attention to their little meeting, specifically how many weapons Eice had slung right now. Her smile faded as she looked toward the guy, not recognizing him as a common attendee of this place. A newcomer..and a curious one at that. She had no sinister or suspicious thoughts as of yet, but the fact that he acted like he owned this place and had the balls to strike up a conversation with total strangers worried her.

She looked toward her friends as they retaliated, Christopher and Allard responding in their own ways. Allard kept his cool and tried to use charm to defuse this, but Chris' outburst of mind-your-own-business-ness might not be appreciated. Either way, she decided to angle herself so that she could both participate in their conversation and keep an eye on their surroundings, especially useful from her standing position. Things were looking odd to say the least.
"Still a wonder to me how you manage to run around with all that brix piled on your hips and back, Eice. Been a while, good to see you again. Same with you, Chris."

Maybe not confronting this guy like everyone else would save them all a little bit of testosterone exposure. If that's all this was about, which it very well could not have been.

Maybe it was the drink speaking, but something was off - a group of armed sentients entering into a bar, and when challenged on their armament, getting prissy in the process. In Vorn Thrackens mind, these people needed to be taught some manners. Standing from his stool, drink in hand, he calmly walked a few steps away from the bar, and placed is drink on a waiting table as he turned back to face the motely gathering.

Like a Bantha Russler of old, he flicked the right quarter of his suit back, exposing the pistol at his hip, his hand hovering over it as he spoke cooly "I don't like your tone gentleman," he eyed one of the men up and down "...gives the place bad name." his hand wavered over his pistol, ready to draw...

Allard didn't like where this was going and he wasn't going to let it go there.

As soon as Vorn flicked his suit back to reach for his blaster, Allard, who had turned with the man to track his movements, fired twice with the TS 2-Shot at lower gut height. This was an instinctive reaction on Allard's part born from his incredible reflexes and his desire to ensure that none of the people he was with right now got shot.

After the first two shots, he usually would have paused for thought... but this time he didn't. Instead he fire another two times into Vorn's lower gut region. With four shots, he doubted that this man was going to live much longer if they all connected.

Eice beamed around at her friends, chuckling. Various tasks had taken her far from many of her friends over the past few weeks, and she was happy to be among them again...

...and then a voice she didn't recognize piped up.

Eice looked behind her, and saw a human male with neatly trimmed facial hair and a suit that looked far too expensive to belong in a place like the Cruel Mistress. Everything about the man screamed "cop" to her, or if not that, some kind of consummate professional. What that profession could be... well, one didn't tend to end up on Ord Mantell if what they did was very nice.

Before she could say anything, Allard intervened on her behalf. Eice relaxed; it was true, a girl had to defend herself, and even if a Tintinna may not have been conventional prey for many of the smuggler planet's predators, a prominent display of lethal potential kept away most unwanted attention.

It was then that Herrith spoke, and Eice giggled. She sat up a bit in her seat and swayed her hips a bit, the holstered blasters and contents of her rump-pack clinking a bit as she did.

"These hips pull their weight!" She winked over at Herrith. "Just 'cause I'm half your size doesn't mean-"

Eice was interrupted when the newcomer spoke again. She turned to looked at him once more, her eyes widening as he pulled back his coat and hovered his hand over the grip of a blaster...

Then Allard's instincts kicked in, and all hell broke loose.

[JUSTFIY]He saw the movement a little to late, and Vorn attempted to dodge, taking one step to the left - two shots glancing his torso, and sending him dropping to one knee, as he drew his own blaster and attempted to pull the trigger. It was to no avail, the two shots fired by Allard, intended for his low gut region, instead striking Vorn in the neck and head.

Everything went dark.

An so passed Vorn.[/JUSTIFY]

And so passed... whoever that had been.

Taking a deep breath, Allard shook his head a little bit before handing some credits to the bartender for the mess that had been caused. This had turned into a bit of a mess but... it was over now. Holstering his blaster, Allard shrugged a little bit and nodded to Chris.

"Lovely to see you again Chris - take care of yourself."

He turned to Herrith and Eice, scooping the little mouse woman up and sitting her up on one shoulder as he grinned at Herrith,

"Now ladies... I think we have something to discuss on my ship. Let's be off!"

With that basically over with, Herrith saw it fit to get out of here before any of his buddies, if any, decided to join in a fight that wasn't worth their time.

Well, looks like he didn't need to pull the trigger after all. He was done here, anyway. He had an appointment on Hoth he had to make, his kids on his home planet waiting. He stood up and left, leaving a small pile of credits on the table to cover the trouble of the corpse.
