The heat was harsh and dry, the days not much better, but when working inside the planets, the caves became a sanctuary. It was here that Dartel had been staying the passed week. Working on his own agenda. He spent hours meditating manipulating the various boulders found inside caves. He wove them around himself as he moved through several forms of his Phantom Fist style of hand to hand combat as well as his personal Ataru style. There were almost three solid days of this practice before breaking and working on his force sight ability as well as working fiercely on his Revitalization and Crucitorn skills. It was hard to work either, but he managed a rhythm fairly quickly. He first learned where his body would begin to call it quits and then use Crucitorn to push further, when he couldn't he would practice Revitalization until he recovered.

Currently, Dartel found himself in the depths of one of the Utapau caves, taking one of his main breaks to meditate on his coming task, another padawan. Jade, a young pantoran that Dartel had actually met twice before. Once, she attended a class on Force Repulse, the other was a quest for lightsaber crystals that she was unsuccessful in. For somebody so young, she was very determined and mature. Dartel had sent word that he would like to be her master if she would allow it and that she should meet him on Utapau for some initial training. He could feel the pull of the force tingling at the base of his skull, she was near, that much he could tell.

He finished his routine workout before heading back to the city and finding the starport where he had landed the Quasar Burner, Jade would know the ship and it would be a good way of finding each other.

Once Jade had heard word that Jedi Knight Dartel Vega had put in a request to be her master she had accepted, albeit rather surprised that a Knight thought her suitable to take on as an apprentice. It wasn't that she thought herself untrainable, she had more than proven what she was capable of learning, but she was blind and many within the Order seemed to think her less able bodied due to this. It didn't take more than a few seconds watching the young pantoran in a sparring session to discover that she could very much see, and took every advantage the Force gave her.

Jade had been instructed to meet up with her new master on the world of Utapau for their first training session and had her friend and traveling companion Dip the Junker drop her off on the hot planet. It hadn't taken her long to locate the Quasar Burner, which she recognized as Dartel's. "He has to be around here somewhere, but I'm not sure where." She muttered aloud just as she sensed him drawing ever closer until he crossed into her range of sight.

Jade turned around and made her way to him, bowing slightly to show her respect. "Master Vega, thank you for this opportunity to further my training I look forward to everything you have to teach me." Her words were much more formal then she typically prefered but in this instance it was only the proper response. Rising her head she tried to focus her gaze in his direction, more for his sake then hers as she could see all around her in the Force and felt no need to be facing someone to speak with them, although this tended to cause others to be uncomfortable.

Dartel was within his Quasar Burner, taking a moment to relax and meditate before his padawan arrived and he took her through the slightly hard training regiment he had planned. He could feel a familiar presence through the force and could only assume that it was Jade. He quickly finished his session of meditation before standing up and clearing his mind. He walked outside and could see Jade walking up to him. She offered a very traditional greeting for a jedi.

"Hello, padawan Jade, there is no need to be formal with me. I will be your master and you will see just how casual I tend to be. I hope that we are able to begin right away, if you need you can use my ship to prepare quickly, but you will not need a lightsaber for today's training."

After waiting for Jade to prepare herself, Dartel led them back into the cave where he trained. It was secluded from the city and deep enough that nobody would be walking passed casually and interrupting them. He disrobed his heavy jedi cloak to his white, sleeveless tunic and turned to Jade before smiling warmly and kneeling.

"If you remember, I like to start classes with a little theory, so please, join me."

Dartel waited for Jade to join him before continuing.

"Today, I will be showing you some of the basics of a hand to hand combat style my master taught me. He called it the Phantom Fist. It is a form of combat that utilizes an opponent's negative space to either initiate an attack, disarm them or throw them."
