Jakku.

How many dust-balls were in this galaxy anyway? Chysim Reech was assigned a strange bounty today. Someone by the name of Lore Toes-R-Good, or something, had racked up a decent sized reward for her head. The employer was anonymous, but as long as the Trandoshan got paid, everything was going to be fine. For now, Chysim was glassing out a graveyard from the old Galactic Civil War. Somewhere among the scraps was his target- and he wasn't letting them get away so easily. The Bounty Hunter was perched on the hull of a crashed Star Destroyer, using the rips and tears in the metal as cover and to keep his location secret.

He was positioned in such a way that if anything moved, he'd see it. If Chysim saw it, it died. Simple as that. The new MK sniper rifle felt good in his clawed hands- definitely a purchase he wouldn't regret. Chysim's old DLT-20A was a decent gun, but it lacked the power the Trandoshan expected when his blaster bolts connected with their targets. The cowboy was used to waiting for his prey, and so he was perfectly okay with waiting to fire the rifle.

"Where yuh at, mongrel..." Chysim muttered to himself. His spot was good, and he didn't want to have to move from it.

Lore knew there was a bounty on her head, and she wondered what had taken them so long to find her out. It was not uncommon for her to be hired by wealthy individuals with power to their dirty work. It was also not uncommon for Lore to change up the mission a little; drop a couple grains of sand in between the cogs and wait for it to grind to a messy halt.

Speaking of sand, Lore seemed to be surrounded with it. Two planets she disliked; Tatooine, and this shit-hole. Both were hot, sandy planets full of low-life creatures. And yet here she was, hiding from her bounty albeit with a little glee. Finally, something she could do that didn't involve clients with not-so-pleasant backstories. Although, whoever was hunting her may have a nasty history, but she could not judge yet.

Right now, she was running through the dunes, having been kicked out of a nearby watering hole for instigating a fight. She hadn't instigated it really, she had only asked for a drink and two particularly disgusting creatures fought over who would pay for her drink. Despite being chased and her life hanging in the balance, a smile lit up her face. She did wish she could take off her skin-tight black suit, though. It was quite hot.

"Bingo..." Chysim muttered after he spotted the movement of his acquisition. Moving targets were nothing for the Bounty Hunter. He had taken down Nexu after Nexu while they were on the prowl with nothing more than a cycler rifle. Sure, there was that one guy who shot Chancellor Ro in the back of the head, but Chysim's skill was just as good- the Trandoshan just never had the opportunity to assassinate someone like the Chancellor. But who knew, right? Maybe he'd get his chance.

After lining up his sights to where he knew it would connect with his target, Chysim squeezed the trigger, sending a heavy blaster bolt right for her thigh. The bounty stated that Lore needed to be brought in alive for questioning because she might've knew things about things that Chysim didn't have time to care about. Didn't matter! She was getting gunned down today and Chysim was getting paid.

"Who yuh runnin' from, missy?" Chysim asked himself after firing a second shot, aiming for the same spot again. Lore seemed to be on the move for a reason, but the Trandoshan couldn't spot anything after her. Or, at leas not yet anyway. Whatever it was, it wasn't claiming his rightfully one prize. So, the large Bounty Hunter stepped out of the wreckage and walked over to his acquisition, keeping his clawed finger on the trigger of his rifle incase something jumped out at him.

Lore heard the shot of a rifle that sounded like her own and barely ducked into a roll in time; rolling down a sand dune. The second shot nicked her calf as she rolled away, however, and blood sprayed onto the sand as Lore cursed colorfully. She should have known running wildly in open sands was a stupid idea, especially after she had recently found out about the bounty on her head. Her mind raced as she laid in the sand. She couldn't stand up and run again, she was an easy target in the open desert.

Suddenly thinking fast, she rolled over onto her stomach, pulling her own MK sniper rifle off her back and aimed it at the figure walking hastily in her direction, thinking she was down. She looked through the optical and fired at the figure three times in rapid succession, aiming for any part of their body that could disable them. Her own calf throbbed, almost in response, pumping blood onto the sand. Lore bit her tongue.

"WOAH!" Chysim narrowly avoided the burst of fire that came from the seemingly downed target, taking cover behind the severed wing of an X-wing. The Trandoshan so desperately wanted to use his Dioxis gas, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to risk accidentally killing off the acquisition. "Alright, little lady- Yuh got two options. Option A, yuh settle yer crazy ass down and come along with me peacefully, or Option B...which is the entirely opposite of Option A." Chysim called out from behind his cover.

He had to keep an eye on her movements somehow without risking getting shot in the process. Then, and idea came to mind. Maybe Dioxis gas could still be used to corner Lore if he threw at least two behind her. She'd be pinched in between deadly tear-gas and the Bounty Hunter. But for now, Chysim was going to wait and see if the little missy gave choice A a shot. Everyone always went for Option B for some reason, and Chysim was never able to solve that mystery...

When he ducked behind the wing of an X-wing, she noticed her hunter was Trandoshan. She was reminded of an unpleasant memory; in a fighting pit on Nar Shaddaa a Trandoshan had put his hands on her. It was likely unfair for her to hate the entire race for one individual, but currently, the only two she knew of the species did not seem to have her best interests at heart.

She held her rifle tensely, still staring down the opticals as she considered the Trandoshan's words. Give herself up, or get herself killed. None of the options were very appealing. "Do you even know why there's a bounty on my head," she said, changing the topic. Her mind still raced, and her blood still pumped. It was the adrenaline high that kept her from feeling the immense pain that would come later.

Chysim had grabbed two Dioxis grenades, one in each hand, ready to hurl them over the wing. If this worked, there would be no escape and Lore Togrud would have to come quietly. Luckily for the Trandoshan, he was a Trandoshan, which meant Dioxis actually improved his senses rather than hinder them. Unlike most bounty hunters, Chysim didn't need one of those specialized vision HUDs, for his eyes and pit organs allowed him to see in inferred vision.

"That ain't no option, missy." Chysim called back before hurling the Dioxis canisters. They would land behind Lore and spew the toxic green gas violently and efficiently. With Lore's leg messed up, there wasn't going to be much she could do. If she stayed in there for too long, she'd die- but, again, none of it mattered. Chysim was getting his bounty either way, his employers only preferred that she was alive.

With the toxic tear-gas in play, Chysim whipped around the opposite corner, aiming down sights while using his own thermal vision to find his acquisition in the thick green killer fog. When Lore's shoulder lined up in the Bounty Hunter's sights, he fired the last three of his heavy rounds, hoping to get rid of her ability to shoot or carry anything. With an injured arm and leg, there wasn't much anyone could do to help themselves.

"Everyone always goes for option A..."

Lore screamed as her upper harm lit up with pain. She rolled over on her side from the force of the shot, the last two shots barely missing her, sending up sprays of sand into her face as they buried into the ground. She squeezed her eyes shut. "I have another option for you," she growled around the pain, looking up into his ugly face. "Whatever they're paying you for my bounty, I will pay double if you let me go," she continued. A risky idea, considering she didn't know how high her bounty was, but she hoped it was low; she wasn't that important anyway. She was laying in sand clumped crimson with her blood.

Double the bounty? What would that be...Something around 15,000 credits? Lore only had a meager bounty of around 7,500. Chysim hesitated for only a second before reloading his blaster. The Bounty Hunter wasn't one who would betray the Guild so quick for money. He was an honest man, and his integrity was apart of made him such an honorable Bounty Hunter. Besides, there wasn't an option C.

"Pardon me, missy." Chysim apologized, taking a few slow steps towards his acquisition with his rifle trained on her head. "I've got a job to do- gotta pay off bills an' such. Yew know the deal." Chysim chuckled. "You got one 'em purdy faces- dun' wanna claw it up, now, do we?" The Trandoshan helped the woman to her feet and ushered her out of the gas. "I ain't no murderer or nothin', either. Yuh lucky they sent me after yuh..."

Black spots flooded Lore's vision and her blood pounded in her ears as the Trandoshan walked towards her and pulled her to her feet, away from the gas. If Lore was any more prideful or any less in pain, she might continue fighting, but instead she let herself go limp, and fell back down to the sand. If the Trandoshan was going to take her, he would have to carry her. He seemed nicer than others she had met in the galaxy but that didn't change the fact that blood was quickly leaving her body due to him. She could feel the grains of sand in her arm and leg, and absentmindedly hoped they didn't get infected.

After Lore went limp, Chysim easily scooped her off the ground and carried her. Honestly, the Trandoshan didn't feel too bad for her. She had pissed off the wrong people and couldn't get away with it. Idiots were always bad for business, and if she couldn't understand that, then maybe she deserved whatever was coming her way. When they arrived at Chysim's ship, he injected a small stimulate that would keep her alive long enough for the big cowboy to bandage her up.

Once his acquisition was taken care of, Chysim placed binders on her wrists and legs. There was no point in risking anything. The last thing Chysim wanted was for some scug-rat to flip his own job on him and steal his ship. The bounty was a meager one, but the Trandoshan needed all the credits he could get if he was going to pay off his father's hospital debt on Kessel. The ISC had been gracious with the Reech family due to the conditions they had been through, but Chysim was not a damn freeloader. He was going to make his dues.

For you, Da'.

Even in her half-unconscious state, Lore's instincts took over and she looked around her surroundings as the Trandoshan brought her on his ship. She was silent and didn't move as he looked binders on her wrists and ankles, preventing her from doing anything even if she could. The stimulant he gave her merely stopped the blood flow so she wouldn't bleed out; but the pain was still there, and she had already lost so much blood. She tried to remember where it had gone wrong; which client had found out about her tinkering with the mission so something good came out of it. Lore thought the galaxy was cruel in its dealing of karma. She would just have to be sneakier about it next time. Next time, she told herself over and over, as a way of motivation. Even if she couldn't escape from the Trandoshan, she would find a way to get out of these people's hands.

After the ship jumped out of lightspeed, the Dead End arrived over Coruscant. It wasn't long before they touched down on a landing pad and were greeted by law enforcement. Chysim handed over Lore and received his payment for doing so. The Trandoshan still wasn't exactly sure what the woman had done to receive that kind of attention, but at least she was getting locked away for whatever it was she did.

With that out of the way, Chysim got back into the cockpit and flew off. This was a relatively easy acquisition, and he hoped that Lore Togrud didn't hold any grudges. This was Chysim's job- it wasn't his fault she had gotten herself a bounty. The Hunt was what the Trandoshan lived for and he wasn't going to lose his honor anytime soon.

Still on top of the food chain...
