DESCRIPTION
Having been forced to halt most of its warship production after the Sith takeover, Core Galaxy Systems, at one time one of of the Republic's largest suppliers of combat vessels, has had to find new markets for its products. A large and venerable starshipwright with a great deal of experience building capital-scale vessels, CGS has adapted to serve the commercial sector, building large, efficient freighters and liners for a variety of customers.

One of CGS' more successful offerings is the CL7 TransiStar, a huge passenger liner built to replace the venerable pre-Sith designs which had operated for centuries within former Republic space. Larger, cheaper and more efficient than many of its competitors, the TransiStar has proven a great success for the company, and a staple of commercial interstellar travel across the Galaxy.

200 meters in length, the TransiStar can carry up to 400 passengers in varying levels of comfort, ad up to 200 tons of other cargo. Cabin layout and facilities tend to vary based on the preferences of the operator, but most TransiStars are divided into at least 3 "classes," with a different level of service and luxury provided to each, usually taking the form of more and more spacious and better appointed cabins, access to better in-flight meals and entertainment options, and a higher priority when being served by the crew. Many TransiStars are equipped with amenities such as lounges, galleys, dining compartments, vending machines, public holobooths, hologame tables and even small holotheaters. These are considered essential on long-duration voyages, which passengers can otherwise find extremely tedious.

TransiStars carry consumables sufficient for 2 standard weeks at full passenger and crew capacity. Standard crew compliment is 40, including all flight crew, kitchen staff, flight attendants and other personnel, although a crew of just 10 can technically fly the ship if no in-flight services are provided. The ship is provided with ample escape pods for use in an emergency. The ship even has a small hangar bay, able to accommodate 2 small shuttles which are primarily used for embarking or disembarking passengers at destinations where the TransiStar cannot land, taking on supplies and transferring crew, passengers and cargo between vessels.

Of note, although TransiStars are enormous and capable of carrying huge volumes of passengers and cargo, they carry no weapons, and possess only weak shields, together with their sluggish handling making them entirely unsuited for combat. Moreover, their power systems are designed in such a way that it is almost impossible to retrofit weapons or more powerful shields without extensive overhauls, at which point it would generally be cheaper and easier to purchase a proper warship.

The CL7 TransiStar is considered one of the most recognizable passenger spacecraft in the Galaxy, and is operated both privately and commercially by countless spacelines. The type's two largest operators are Trans-Galactic Spacelines and Pan-Galactica Transport.

LEGALITY
Legal. TransiStars are a common sight across the Galaxy, and they are considered innocuous enough in most systems. However, they are generally considered too costly and high-maintenance for the average individual to own; these vessels tend to be used by fleet operators.

INTENT
To create a standard type of large passenger liner, and a Star Wars equivalent to real-world "jumbo jets" like the Boeing 747 or Airbus A380.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes. CL7 TransiStars are not trivial to buy, steal or otherwise acquire, and it would take a plot consisting of at least 3 threads to do so.
