Actually, Vashni's armor has quite a few weaknesses in the back, neck, shoulders, and below the chestplate. Read the lines. I didn't design the armor, only the weaknesses XD

"The only downside is that while I am protected almost completely from the heat and most conventional attacks (as well as any lightsaber assault to the chest), cold is multiplied."

Roughly translated to:

"I made a Greek God for a character. If you aim perfectly and shoot him in the heel, he dies. It's fair now, right?"

Not at all. I believe I wrote about the back of his armor and how weak that was as well. How about the fact that his armor prevents him from turning around? What about the weakness in his back? The power couplings that a vibrosword could cut through? A knife could sink between the plates in his helm. A grenade from behind is an instant kill if it is the right kind.

Let me clarify his weaknesses: he isn't impervious to anything. Sure he has resistance to heat, but that's like friction and perhaps a few seconds of a flamethrower. He has weaknesses a plenty, including the life support systems in his armor. If someone reads that they will know that an armor piercing round, grenade, lightsaber, or even a vibrosword to the back with pretty much screw him over. The inner shell is just meant for shock absorption and appearances more than anything.

So, what is overpowered about a tank that can only move forward with all but no protection on his back and a sword he can pretty much only stab with? Pit him against someone with semi-decent weapons and a wide open area and he loses. His only advantage is up front. Even then I wrote about the boosters in his ankles. One shot and boom. There goes his mobility. So hmm... overpowered my ass. I made sure he had weaknesses to balance out his strengths.

Can he beat a guy with three layers of armor, one layer that is used to build starships? What about a chaingun? Or a chainsword? Or an energy sword? What about a can of instant death known as a flamethrower at point blank? :CHappy:

This right here doesn't sound like he has any weaknesses dude lol

As far as I can tell, none of this is mentioned in your profile.

Regardless...Just because the Death Star has a two meter wide exhaust port that can be used to blow the ****ing thing up doesn't mean you get to use the Death Star. It's completely unfair for you to have a character that is capable of jumping off buildings, resist light-saber attacks and has the armor of, and I quote, a FREAKING STARSHIP, while others are stuck with Jedi Padawans and smugglers.

Don't get me wrong, you're free to have a power armor (or whatever) if you want, but tone it down.

No character should be able to withstand a lightsaber blow to the chest.
No character should be immune to thermal detonators.
No character should be invisible and be able to carry heavy artillery at the same time.

It's just not fun for others, OK? Why should you be allowed to hijack a thread and then expect everyone else to try and figure out your character's weaknesses?

I want to emphasize this, as it's the most important point. RPing against something like this simply isn't fun for those involved. It creates too much of an uneven playing field. If you were just a regular type of character and I came in with something like this, you wouldn't have much fun as I was jumping off of buildings and resisting lightsaber blows to the chest while a simple blaster shot to the head could kill you dead immediately.

Like Sin said, just because you give something super powerful a weakness (like a two meter exhaust port on the Death Star) doesn't mean it's suddenly OK.

Feel free to continue arguing your point to your heart's desire, but our opinion won't change. You need to rework the problem characters if you want to use them.

Finish the entire profile. After the aforementioned line "jump off of buildings" I wrote "well... not exactly, but you get the picture". An exaggeration. Perhaps I didn't phrase that well, but I read it as a metaphor.

Read up on ultrachrome. It's the metal used in starships and I used an allusion to that. I referenced star ship so that people could get an idea about what the armor looks like. I also wrote the thickness of the armor. Less than an inch? Was it 1/2 an inch? Half an inch of plating is less thick than my thumb. It isn't lightsaber resistant. Not completely. If someone stabs him and holds it there for a few seconds it will destroy the entire plate permanently.

He isn't immune to thermal detonators. Concussion grenades? Maybe. I don't believe I wrote that, though if I did I will change it.

Also, Vashni doesn't have a way to become invisible OR carry heavy artillery. His only gun is a chaingun while he has an energy sword and a dagger. To put that in layman's terms he is a Jedi Padawan with a gun and a lightsaber. Not even a good lightsaber. One that eats up his power cells and malfunctions all of the time.

The second part might be thrown at Hakim and Cailst, but in our defense, it was an open thread. Maybe their entrance wasn't exactly realistic and they could have done a better job of writing out weaknesses, but do you always write out a character's weaknesses IC? Usually you allow people to read the profile to find that since the weaknesses are rather obvious. I suppose it should be mandatory if one is wearing power armor.

As to the death star argument, who said anything about super weapons? The armors have weaknesses that are self explanatory and also written blatantly in the Sodality thread. The idea is like the templars in a way. The Sodality is armored and carries state of the art weapons like a templar. They are crusading for their 'religion' (kinda) and are much like a slow, armored version of the Dark Jedi. Except weaker in terms of the Force and 'lightsaber' combat.

EDIT:

Then why are Dark Jedi and Jedi allowed in threads? A smuggler against a Dark Jedi is a weighted fight. There is no way the smuggler can get out alive unless he is decked out in state of the art gear with a couple others behind him. When you put a Jedi or Dark Jedi into a thread with 'regular' characters, the end result is the exact same as the one you just proposed: it ends up being quite boring.

What are the weaknesses of the Jedi and Dark Jedi? They have Force Powers, can deflect bullets and plasma, jump across mountains, and lift starships. What makes it possible for the common smuggler to kill one? I don't see how it would be possible unless the smuggler god modded.

This might be seen as a double edged knife, but still, it is unfair either way. Power Armor at least has palpable weaknesses for every strength. What counters a Jedi's lightsaber? What counters the Force? Or impossible reflexes?

My post was directed at Hakim and the others as well.

I really don't think I'm being reasonable by asking you to tone down your character.

PM once you've made the changes, and I'll take a look at your profile.

(BTW you did write in your profile that your character could resist lightsaber blow to the chest, and you DID mention in the City thread that your armor would make "any starship captain jealous." So please don't act as if I was taking things out of context, because I'm not)

EDIT: You can shoot a dark jedi with a slugthrower, and he'll probably get hit.

On the other hand, your character is immune to those type of attacks.

Please read my edit. Why should others be allowed when they are even stronger and more god like?

I have yet to see anything else like this. If you see anything, please report it to an RP Admin (Sin, Matt, Nexus, Ols) and we'll look into that as well.

Alrighty then. I'll edit Vashni a bit then. I usually add metaphors and hyperboles to my posts for a touch of flare. Just like how I tune into my character's personal thoughts and feelings to what is going on in context to what is actually happening.

Oh, and when I shot Storm's Dark Jedi with an entire round of slugthrower bolts, he dodged half and deflected the others, so it isn't fair to say 'probably' when there were three people shooting at the same Dark Jedi from different angles yet he ended up dodging everything.

You know what you're getting into when a Jedi or a Dark Jedi are around. On the other hand, this is just over the top.

This conversation is over. Deal with it and please rework your character. Thanks.

I can't really rewrite him since he doesn't serve a purpose anymore with Storm's faction now canceled (though it had never been approved) >_>

You guys were a bit unreal in your power. I mean, limited stealth alone, nothing else, that'd work. Frankly, I tried to go along with it, but you kind've seemed to run right into the scenario and send everything whirling. I'm not saying the changes were wrong, just a bit suprising.

I was just going along with what was written in the Zialan Sodality thread on what equipment I had.

Well then perhaps the guy in charge of the faction should adjust the thread?
