Chodo Fonwim is a Nature Priest of Ithor following his people's own unique religion. This particular Ithorian has chosen to not lead a herd. Sensing the imbalance in the Force he has chosen to instead explore beyond his planet’s borders. Out on his own amongst the dangers of the galaxy he is slowly beginning to realise that as utterly distaste as violence may be that it is sometimes necessary in self-defence.

Biography

Born into a line with a history of Force Sensitivity it came as no great surprise to anyone when Chodo was discovered to also be capable of learning to wield the Force by his Herd’s Priest. When the Ithorian was a young teenager he began his training become apprenticed to one of the senior Priest who had detected his gift all those years ago.
Chodo proved to be strong with the Force being capable of connecting with the Mother Jungle. He showed some other gifts too such as being able to help ease the pain of others or as using the Force to help the Herd’s farmers.
When he turned 23 years old his apprenticeship was called to an end. He served as a secondary Priest, just under his mentor, for nearly a decade. He served well however as time progressed pressure for him to start his own Herd began to grow. In truth Chodo was envious of the merchants of his people who travelled the stars and brought back exciting tales with them. Shortly after he turned 32 he requested permission to leave the Herd and explore. He felt the Force was telling him that he was needed amongst the Stars and he believed that he would be a wiser leader if he knew more about galactic affairs. He believed he needed to do so alone instead of going on one of his people’s herdships. The most senior priest of his Herd granted him permission. Chodo was already a trained pilot and he was given an old light freighter by a member of his Herd who had once used as a travelling merchant until his retirement.
As time passed it became obvious that Chodo was ignorant of the ways of the universe and hopelessly naive. He’d grown up on a world where everything that was needed was provided by the community and he’d never even met a criminal before with Ithor being as peaceful as it is.
Half a year into his exploration and he was broke, having lost all his money to conmen, pickpockets and flat out robbery but at least he had his ship. Things came to a head two months ago with Chodo being down to his last few credits when he was being mugged on the streets of Taris, a potentially lethal end to his travels, when a Selkath saved him.
This Selkath went by the name Myjin Roin. The aquatic alien seemed to take pity on him and began to teach him the common sense he would need to survive away from Ithor as well as some self-defence skills despite Chodo’s initial protestations. The pair have recently met a young Twi’lek female called Xiann who seems to enjoy their company, she has mentioned off-handedly that she would like to leave on the Argent Thorn when the pair depart Taris. For Chodo has been spending his days on Taris volunteering at a small hydroponics farm in the lower cities to help grow food for the impoverished.
Personality
__________________________________________________
Chodo is not your typical Ithorian. Whilst he shows many of the usual stereotypical traits associated with his species; a love of unspoiled nature, a great respect for peace and a vocal view of violence being abhorrent he is also different. Despite being a Nature Priest he chose not to help lead his Herd but to instead walk amongst the stars driven by a need to explore.
Although a pacifist he has, in recent weeks, come to the realisation that something it is necessary to fight back in self-defence or, more importantly, in the defence of others. He does not believe that this allowance makes it right but only a sad necessity. He sees it as a personal sacrifice to dirty his soul with violence when such moments come.
Chodo, being a quiet and peaceful being, would prefer to spend his time in tranquil solitude. Meditating and communing with whatever world he is walking upon, even those planets that suffer from having their natural beauty destroyed by sentient lifeforms building too much over their surface. However despite these preferences he is, like many Ithorians, a conversationalist who loves to engage with strangers and listen to their tales. It has also been remarked that he can be incredibly slow when it comes to making a decision believing that every consideration needs to be given the appropriate time for deliberation before a choice is made.
The Ithorian likes to spend time, when he’s not travelling aboard his freighter, working with plants. Whether this is gardening or farming Chodo gets a great deal of pleasure watching things grow.
Coming from Ithor, a world of peace, it hurts Chodo to the core when he sees suffering and often do whatever he can to help those in need. However he can be exceptionally naive and it is often down to his companions to stop the Priest from walking into dangerous situations out of ignorance.
Powers and Skills
__________________________________________________
- Nature Priest - Trained in the way of his peoples Force Users Chodo is capable of sensing the Force. He is capable of empathy and telepathy as well as some rather minor applications of telekinesis and plant surge. His powers are more potent if he is amongst nature, drawing strength from such surroundings due to the Ithorian Religion setting the principles of his Force training. However being a pacifist Order none of his training is applicable to combat.
- Light Side Adept - Although from a minor Force Organisation Chodo has undergone Light Side Force training and can tap into it’s soothing flow. It should be noted the power provided by this sort of training pales in comparison to the great Sith and Jedi Orders but then that’s not the point of the Priesthood.
- Ithorian - As an Ithorian Chodo has some innate traits. He can not speak basic but can understand it. He is capable of using the defensive ability Kougathu which involves shouting with both mouths simultaneously, this can be enhanced by the use of Force Bellow.
- Green Thumb - With a mixture of his innate Ithorian tendency towards nature, his training as a Nature Priest and his Light Side abilities Chodo is a gifted farmer and gardener.
- Swordsman - Up until two months ago Chodo had never even touched a weapon. Since then Myjin Roin has convinced him to learn to defend himself and has been given the Ithorian a crash course in the use of a vibroblade.
- Pilot - Chodo was given extensive training in shuttles and freighter controls before his Herd would allow him to leave Ithor upon the Argent Thorn. Since then he has gotten plenty of experience.
- Pacifist - Like the overwhelming majority of his species Chodo despises violence. As such he is experienced with trying to talk his way out of problems rather than letting them devolve into conflict. Ultimately however he diverges from the mainstream belief of his peoples as the wandering Ithorian believes it can be acceptable to defend the innocent or even yourself .
- Basic Maintenance - Chodo has been looking after a VT-110 Light Freighter alone and as such has learnt how to look after his ship in a very hands on manor. Likewise he has learnt to perform basic ongoing maintenance of his astromech droid.
- Xenolinguistics - As an Ithorian he might not be able to speak Basic but Chodo is quite gifted at understanding other languages despite his physiological inability to speak much more than Ithorese.
