Ever since the Chiss first conquered the seas of their home world, the Marines have existed. The Marines were not normal soldiers. These brave individuals were the best trained soldiers the Chiss had. They could be called upon to fight anywhere, at any time. As Chiss technology grew, so did the training of the Marines. In the modern era, the Chiss Marines are called upon to defend every inch of Chiss space.

The Chiss Marines’ training allows them to fly fighters, drive ground based vehicles, and fulfill every role on board any Chiss ship. Yet, this is not the extent of their abilities. They are trained in Space combat, able to use their highly advanced combat suits to survive in space without the aid of a vehicle. They can fight in free fall, under water, while swimming, in deserts, jungles and everything in between. There is not a place Marines are NOT trained to fight in.

However, they are more like special forces units than infantry. They are sent in small groups to take key targets, destroy heavily defended areas, or hold back an entire army while the rest of the troops are sent into a strategic withdrawal. This however, means their life expectancy is not very long. They are loyal to the end, and fight with all their being to accomplish the goals that bring victory for the Chiss on the battlefield.

Sadly, most Marines will never make it in rank past Centurion, due to the difficult nature of Marine missions. Yet, it is one of the quickest branches for promotion, as it allows for great acts of valor on the battlefield. A Marine is felt on the battlefield, as a powerful force that can stand against the waves of enemies thrown at them. As such, they are in great demand by all other branches of the armed forces, and those who grow in ranking within the Marines are honored warriors, proven loyal to their cause. Because of the training and battles they must go through, Marines are respected by all other branches, and their words carefully listened to.

Training: A Marine starts out like any other military cadet for the first year of their long training. Before one can walk, one must crawl, so they are forced through basic training. The Path of a Marine is one of honor and glory to ones clan and family and so there are never any shortages of volunteers. After basic training, the Marine’s will go through three more years of intensive training in the galaxies most harsh conditions. Many die during this phase of training.

List of terrain used for training: Urban environments, plains, desert, jungle, forest, rain forest, mountain, snow, ocean, underwater, ship to ship, deep space, orbital space, low gravity, zero gravity, high gravity, lava fields, next to moving capital ships, orbital drops, free fall, reentry, in fires, in floods, during earthquakes, high lightning strike areas, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzard white out conditions, deep freeze conditions, volcanic eruptions, hail, and even near a black hole.

Marines are trained in every variation of armed, and unarmed, combat. These are truly the elite shock troopers of the galaxy, able to function at peek efficiency no matter where they are, or what they are doing. Trained in hand to hand, knife fighting, blaster, heavy weapons, and demolitions efficiency, as well as piloting, battle field medicine, maintenance and repair, diplomacy, linguistics, and advanced tactics. They follow orders to the end, but are able to function independently of orders as well. These warriors are trained to put their mission and the Chiss people first and foremost. Their own lives are expendable, even in their own eyes. This creates a perfect warrior in battle, they know their place, and the effects their missions have. Proud, and unstoppable on the battlefield, these are truly among the finest soldiers in the galaxy.

Chiss Marine Combat Suit

The most noticeable feature of the Marines is their unique combat suits. These suits are self contained survival units. They recycle air, meaning they don’t need to use outside air to supply them. They are capable of taking the lack of pressure of deep space without any problems. Equally, they can take the pressure of immense depths underwater, or the strain of high air pressure on certain worlds. Containing light shielding to stop radiation from penetrating the being underneath allows them to go nearly anywhere they need to. Shielded visors change their tint based on the light levels, and even contain inferred and night vision. Not to mention a sonar system, motion detectors, magnetic field scanners, amplified sound receivers, and short range radar. These suits have a heating and cooling device, allowing for the wearer to be comfortable, in space, under water, or on a volcanic planet. Further systems include a water purification system, that supplies the wearer with a short term drinking supply. As its designed for high combat use, it also protects against shrapnel, grazing laser shots, and the pressure waves caused by explosions.

Nice writeup, Alex. They seem pretty thorough as the Ascendancy's solid fighting force. They seem to have a similar role to the non-Force sensitive supporting soldiers of the Immortal Order. How do you feel about incorporating dual-training with that sub-faction and involving the marines as an equal Shock Troop division?

Sure, the Marines will have a broader role however. The dual-training sounds perfect, as the Marines will need to train with the best to become the best. I see the Immortals as the Elite of the Elite, the highest order of fighters there are. Where as the Marines may be trained the same, but are the ones who are more expendable, and therefore are the ones sent of more suicidal type missions than the Immortals. The Marines get the job done, no matter the cost. Perhaps every Capital ship of Frigate or larger class, has at least one contingent of Marines aboard.

I like it very much. I especially like their type of training in different environments and the like, similar to the HOSTEN Stormtroopers. Environmental variables are sure to be a factor in upcoming battles, so I can see them being very useful for those delicate missions. If you want to incorporate those details further into the writeup, feel free, and let me know whenever you feel its ready to be posted. Looks good, man.
