When Laeonas had suggested a stop off, he'd more meant buying groceries or some more toiletries for the bathroom. That his teacher offered to stop off on not only her home planet, but his, was a complete surprise to him. "...really?" He asked, almost incredulous. "This is soundin' less laike a lesson, and more laike a vacation." He declared, lips curling into a smirk. "Course, ya won't find me complainin.'"

Yet after the words escaped his mouth, the smirk did turn down just slightly. He'd been absent from home for years prior to his first return, but now, it'd barely be over a few months. "Uhh... mae ma doesn't know Ai'm... well, y'know, a Jedi now." He awkwardly replied, scratching the back of his neck nervously. "...Ai guess we could just, uh, not tell 'er?" He suggested, before glancing down at his robes. "...nah. Th'at wouldn't work." He added, letting out a sigh.

It was tempting to just refuse the offer, but Ephiny had just invited him to meet her family and see her homeworld. He'd never cared much for politeness or courtesy, but returning the gesture was the least he could do-- especially for her. "...well, Ai was gonna 'ave ta tell 'er eventually, so prolly best th'at it's before Ai'm grandmaster." He teased, smirk returning to his lips. "Just... be ready fer anythin'. Ma's a bit... eccentric? Ai think th'at's tha word." He declared. The man was unpredictable, but he'd inherited that from someone.

Ephiny's response to his request caused a frown to appear on his lips, and he shook his head. "Ah, don't wimp out laike th'at! All Ai ever see ya doin' fer fun is meditatin' or readin' some 'istory on some backwater rimworld's kings from faive thousand years ago! Stretch yer legs fer kark's sake!" He enthusiastically declared, grabbing the woman's arm and practically yanking her out towards the holoroom.

"Ai never got ta watch many 'olo's when Ai was a kid, so Ai've gotta catch up!" He'd enthusiastically declare. His emotions radiated off of him, pulsing through the ship. It wouldn't be enough to actually have an impact on how Ephiny felt, but it was present, hanging, whispering in the ears of the only other person on the ship. She might recall a similarity to this, and to his time meditating out in the jungle-- or earlier still, to the medbay, when Asadra had attacked the man.

He hadn't bothered listening to what the woman had been saying at first, until she asked about stories. He paused for a moment, the excitement breaking as he actually stopped to think. "Hmm..." He mused, pursing his lips together. "...well, a'right. Maybe Ai'll tell ya about tha first taime Ai met a Sith..."

Well, I’m going to teach you new Force abilities during these stops and we can also have fun there.” Ephiny looked at him with a smile on her lips. “Only because it’s a lesson, doesn't mean that it needs to be boring.” she always tried to make her classes in a way that her students would learn without feeling bored.

Ephiny didn’t understand why Laeonas wanted to keep his identity as a Jedi as a secret from his mother. Perhaps he feared that she would be mad with him due to that. With Brentaal recently joining the ISC, a government where the Order wasn’t much appreciated, her Padawan could be fearing that once he returned to his homeworld, he would be treated with disdain by his family.

She was already going to say that they don’t need to stop on Brentaal if he didn’t want to, but was interrupted by Laeonas finally agreeing with it and even saying how his mother was eccentric. Now the Archivist was curious about her. “Wonderful! I’ll have that in mind when we meet her.

When Laeonas yanked her from the chair, Ephiny only laughed. He wasn’t wrong, she spent most of her free time doing these things. However, it was her interpretation of a relaxing moment. While they walked toward the holoroom, the Archivist would continue giggling, having noticed how on this moment the Brentaalan looked as a Master dragging his lazy Padawan. It was a funny inversion of roles, because usually she was the one dragging the man around.

However, she suddenly stopped giggling when Laeonas said that he was going to tell the story of how he met a Sith for the first time. Ephiny never became face to face with one before, so it interested her. “I would like to hear this one. Was there that you picked your lightsaber?

The woman's promise of a new ability on every stop caught his attention. "Ya promised me a single ability when we left, but yer uppin' tha ante?" He said, laughing a little as he sat back. "Ya 'ad me sold already, but now Ai'm all in." He teased, a bit curious as to what Ephiny's homeworld would look like. The only farm he'd been on was a livestock ranch on Dantooine, but he'd never actually... well, seen crops.

Her enthusiasm to meet his mother prompted a snort of laughter from the man, and he just smirked. "Yeah, you'll... get along great." He'd add, already anticipating the inevitable dumpsterfire that always came when his mother met any of his friends. He could already picture the incredulous looks, the abnormally high amount of swearing (even for her) and an offer of scotch. It would be mortifying, but he imagined that in this case, it could provide for some serious comedy.

By the time they'd got to the holoroom, it was clear that the both of them were in high spirits. Even just a few minutes into their vacation, the two of them were already having plenty of fun together. He hadn't expected the woman to refuse his offer of a story, but she seemed genuinely interested when he offered. "Th'at comes waaaaay later." He declared, smirking a little as he sat upright on the sofa.

"So," he began, "It started after Ai traide ta find some work." He began, straining a bit to remember. "Ai was... Ai wasn't even a man back than, kriff. Ai'd only spent a few months offplanet by th'at point." The man opened up, not exactly sounding nostalgic. "But... these rangers were surroundin' this buildin', full of gangsters from tha rivals of tha gang Ai'd just tried findin' work fer." He explained. She knew about his criminal past at this point, so he wasn't afraid to admit it here.

"Than, outta karkin' nowhere, this... GUY appears." He began, facial expression losing any hint of positive enthusiasm. "Clad in this... this fuckin' mask th'at Ai've never seen anyone in before." He went on, the memories especially vivid now. "There were these rangers, tryna... tryna get everyone ta leave. Ai didn't 'ave work, so Ai kinda walked up t'them and just... asked 'fer 'em ta pay me ta shoot tha guy." He said. It sounded stupid, but in truth, it wasn't to far off from what he'd done when he'd met her and Alex.

"They basically ignored me, but Ai decided Ai'd shoot 'im anyway. But when Ai clime up on a roof after 'im, aim, and fire-- he just fuckin' phased away." He described, finishing the tale. "It felt so... so karkin' wrong. Laike a concentrated feelin' of every taime Ai'd gotten pissed off and used tha force ta 'urt people-- not cus Ai needed ta 'urt 'em, but cause Ai wanted ta 'urt 'em." he went on, shuddering slightly.

"Ai think if 'e weren't tryna escape those officers, he'd 'ave cut me in two."
The man finally admitted, nervously laughing. "Wouldn't even 'ave been a contest."

Ephiny followed Laeonas to the holoroom. The place had a great screen, where the holomovies and the Holonet were projected. They had cleaned the room early and the Archivist had noticed how it was large. From their conversations, she knew that the Padawan wasn’t rich. She wondered how he was able to afford these things on his ship.

When he started to tell his story, Ephiny sat next to him, paying close attention to what he was saying. A small smile appeared on her lips when she felt the nostalgia coming from him. Probably these memories were still important to him. Even if they were associated with Sith and their Darkness.

After he finished his story, Ephiny turned to look directly at his eyes. “You were lucky that the Sith didn’t go after you.” these dark siders were already dangerous for a trained Jedi, for someone like Laeonas, who was only a civilian at the time, they would be mortal. “I never fought a Sith before. Since I’m an Archivist, I spend most of the time doing search, rather than going to battlefields.

I was working in a search in the Archives of Yavin when news arrived that the Sith had attacked and destroyed the Temple of Ajan Kloss. I lost many friends on this day.” Ephiny always wondered if her presence could have helped stop the massacre that happened there. “With time you will learn more abilities that will help you to defend against them.

Deciding to change the focus of the conversation, Ephiny pointed to the holoscreen. “What holomovie are we going to watch? I hope that it isn’t horror, because I hate it.” she said, with a smile on her lips. “What movie genre is your favorite?

There was a reassurance that came with Ephiny's smile. It was subtle; a small reminder that these were long past him. Even if it felt so vivid, even if with hindsight, he realized just how close to death he truly was. How long would he have lasted anyways? Perhaps fifteen seconds if he grabbed his vibrosword in time-- and that was generous. Engaging such a foe was the sign of an overly aggressive, inexperienced child. One he still shared so many characteristics with, and yet at the same time, looked like a sputtering angry toddler.

When it was her turn to tell a story, Laeonas' nervous face turned sour. He'd lost friends-- comrades-- before. Sometimes there were accidents on jobs, other times they were simply gunned down. It was the way of things on the streets of Brentaal, and apparently it had been similar on Ajon Kloss. He'd remembered that world's name, unlike the many others she'd told him about. Any planet that had fallen to the Sith-- Denon, Taris-- it all stuck.

He was keeping score.

"Ai wanna be able ta fight back-- fight back and win." He declared, a bitterness laced in his tone. "Ai only ever fought one, and Ai only got away cause a couple cops were shootin' at us. Ai was left limpin' away laike a babe..." He muttered, eyes narrowing. "Ai wish Ai'd won-- and th'at Ai'd killed 'im." He declared, letting out a frustrated sigh. "And Ai know th'at th'at's wrong, but it doesn't feel th'at way. When ya meet someone th'at... th'at sick, there ain't no room fer mercy. No place fer compassion when ya know th'at they wouldn't show ya any." He declared.

He almost ashamed in how right his convictions felt. He knew that it was... wrong, but every cell in his body told him that the Sith he'd faced-- The Skylers, the masked one-- they were beyond redemption. The galaxy was a worse place as long as people like them existed. Even if the Jedi taught forgiveness, forgiving a kath hound that had just nearly ripped out your throat was a death sentence.

"...Ai'm sorry. This was supposed ta be fun; Ai'm ruinin' it with mae gloomy bullshite." He spat out, shaking his head. "Kriff Ai wish we 'ad booze. M- old on." He muttered, slowly standing up. All previous thoughts lost focus as he got up, pulled up the cushion where he was sitting, moved a whole section of the sofa out from it's place, and--

"FUCK YEAH!" He roared, yanking up a bottle of Dak Janyells from the emergency liquor compartment he'd had installed under the sofa. "AI FUCKIN' KNEW THIS WOULD COME IN HANDY! Last minute installations be damned, this was tha best decision Ai ever made!" He exclaimed, grinning down at Ephiny. All signs of the solemn, bitter man who'd just been there were replaced. "'Old on, lemme grab some Tolo cups from tha kitchen-- all mae glasses got karkin' smashed." He went on, handing the bottle over to Eph, before adding, "We're about to join 'em!" With a cackle.

Ephiny watched Laeonas reaction to what she had said. The way his mood changed from nervous to sour, showed how he felt uncomfortable with it. Perhaps she miscalculated and he wasn’t prepared for this conversation. However, if he was going to be part of the Jedi Order, the Brentaalan would need to know about the massacre at Ajan Kloss at some point.

She remained in silence while the Brentaalan told how he fought a Sith in the past and what he wanted to do with them. Ephiny could see how he seemed determined with it, believing that the Sith should be killed and how he wanted to do it. Only now she noticed how there was so much work that she needed to do with her Padawan.

There was still rage on him and it could destroy him. The Archivist hoped that she would be a Master good enough to guide and protect Laeonas from the Darkness that these thoughts could generate. Ephiny was so distracted by these thoughts that she didn’t said anything after he finished talking.

Only after Laeonas decided to change the subject of the conversation was that Ephiny interacted with him again, leaving her reflections about his desire to kill the Sith for another time. However, she wasn’t prepared for it to become a moment where her Padawan was going to get drunk and try to get her too. The Archivist was surprised how there was a hidden compartment for bottles inside the sofa.

She held the bottle unsure of how to do that. “Laeonas, I never drank alcohol before. Can’t we only watch the holomovie?” Ephiny said. She felt really uncomfortable with the possibility of the two drinking. She was his Master, and in her mind she needed to have perfect moral conduct, being an example for her Padawan. “I really appreciate it, but I don’t want to drink.” she offered the bottle back to him, waiting for the man to pick it.

With how hyped the man was over slaking his thirst, he didn't regard how his teacher reacted. All the while, cracking jokes to himself. "If it weren't fer stayin' a nutter fer a few weeks, goin' dry might've been tha 'ardest bit of mae trainin' yet!" He called, laughing a bit more as he searched the cabinets. They'd gone through everything in here once before, so it didn't take long to find what he was looking for. "Perfect." He whispered, opening a cabinet and finding Tolo cups.

Grabbing that and a bottle opener, the man would quickly run back to the holo room, a grin on his face. "Ai'm so glad we got tha good stuff. No Dub Light or bantha swill-- some good 'ole 'ard liquor!" He exclaimed, the most excited he'd been in years. It was only when his teacher finally spoke up and confessed that she'd never drank that Laeonas' expression changed. Almost like a record had scratched, he slowly turned, eyebrow raised. Than, he started to laugh.

Than he started laughing a lot.

"Ya'v... never 'ad a drink?" he'd repeat, giggling a little at the idea. "What, did yer parent's shove a stick up y- nevermind." He said, stopping himself. Even if he wasn't fully educated on socialization, he knew such jokes weren't always taken well. "Ai just... ya'v never 'ad a drink? Ever?" he repeated, the shock filling in the vacuum that the humor's absence had created. "But yer... yer laike, thirty!" He'd add, trying his best to rationalize it. Even if it were just a lifestyle choice, it seemed such an odd one to make.

Still, if she didn't want to drink, it was a decision that belonged to her. Even if she weren't his teacher, that fact would always remain. Slowly, he put aside his shock, and just gave her a nod, adding, "A'right, more fer me." As a final tease. Taking the bottle back into his hand, he'd cut the rubber seal around the top and pop the cork, before pouring a drink for himself. Placing the cup into the built in holders in the sofa, he finally relaxed, flicking on the holo with a remote.

"...Ai've kinda been out'f it on tha screenies fer awhile, so Ai ain't got much'v a clue as ta what we should pick." He reiterated, taking a swig from his cup. Surfing Spaceflix, his eyes widened as they settled on a flick he was all to familiar with. "'oly 'ell, Black 'Eat? Ai loved th'at one when Ai was a kid!" He exclaimed, smiling wide. "It's all about a bank robbery gone wrong-- set on mae 'omeworld! We're definitely watchin' this one."

Laeonas’ reaction to her revealing that she never drank alcohol, wasn’t amusing in Ephiny’s opinion. What was the problem with her never having done it? For her, there was nothing strange about it. There were many other Jedi that also never consumed alcohol. Perhaps the one being the stranger one there was her Padawan, but she would not tell him that.

I’m 25 years old.” she corrected him. Only at this moment did she notice that Laeonas was older than her, but acted like a teenager. “I joined the Jedi Order when I was 14 and I never had the desire to taste it.” Ephiny really never cared or thought about consuming alcohol. She always had more important things on her mind rather than thinking about it.

She gave the bottle back to him. When Laeonas mentioned having more alcohol for himself, Ephiny looked at him with a frown. “I don’t mind if you drink a bit, but you will regret it if you get drunk.”it wasn’t a joke, she was being very serious. The Archivist would not tolerate having a Padawan with this type of vice. After all, the Jedi should be good examples for the citizens of the Galaxy.

Black Eat? I never watched this one before.” Ephiny wondered why this holomovie had this name. She couldn’t identify any logic for a holomovie about a bank robbery having this name. Perhaps it was something of the Brentaalan culture, or she didn’t understand what Laeonas had said.

The reaction that Laeonas had about this holomovie made Ephiny smile. Even if he hadn’t said it, the way that he smiled showed to her how this holomovie had been important for his childhood. This made the Archivist wonder how her Padawan was when he was a child.

While Laeonas prepared to put the holomovie on the screen, Ephiny decided to ask a question. Sometimes her curiosity was too big for her to control herself. “You said that you used to watch it all the time when you were a child. What other things did you do at the time?

At first, Laeonas dismissed her age, adding, "Yeah, well yer still older tha-" before taking a pause. Quickly, he pulled out his fingers, counting up the years he'd been alive on his fingers, eyes widening once they went past 20 and practically bulging out of his head by the end. "Twenty faive... twenty six... twenty seven... 'oly kark, Ai'm older than ya!" He exclaimed, surprised by the revelation. "But ya act laike a karkin' ma!" The Padawan declared, blinking a few times to mull it over.

He hadn't really paid much attention to his teacher's further reasoning, already making up his mind on not pushing further. She didn't want to, so he wouldn't push, end of story. As he took a sip of his drink, he heard the woman speak up again, glancing once she was finished telling him he'd regret getting drunk. For a moment, he'd stare into her eyes, student sizing up the teacher. Was she... threatening him? Did she plan on punishing him for his habits?

He briefly considered her warning, before taking an especially long sip of his drink, the Padawan's defiance naked in his gaze. His mother had also challenged him on drinking in a similar fashion, and he'd always ignored what she'd told him. Alcohol was to good to give up, and once he started, it was to good to stop. Damn all the warnings about what'd happen to his liver in, what, thirty years? He cared about how he felt now.

What caused the man to put down his drink wasn't her warnings, but her pronunciation of the name of the holo. "Eat? No, 'eat." He repeated, before pausing. "'eat." He repeated again, silently cursing under his breathe. "Fer kriff's... hhhhh'eeeaaat. Hhhheat. Heat." He sounded out the word, taking the same approach he had in most of their diction lessons. "Th'at's tha name, not eat. Movie ends with uh, a lot of..." He'd begin, before stopping. "Eh, you'll see soon."

As he booted up the movie, Ephiny would ask a question, and Laeonas would pause. A lot had happened in his childhood; they'd be here longer than it'd take for the holo to end. Thinking quickly, Laeonas would respond, "Ai spent most've mae taime out on tha streets doin' shite. Either Ai was pickpocketin', or playin' with mae friends. When Ai wasn't out there, Ai was in mae apartment, or scavengin' in tha old ware'ouses fer shite Ai could sell. Th'at's 'ow Ai picked up tha datapad th'at 'elped me learn ta read." It was an uncharacteristically direct explanation-- perhaps because, it was the first time in his life that he'd ever actually given it. For nobody once had ever even asked.

Than, the movie opened up. From the grainy quality of the picture, it was clear that this one was old-- centuries old. It wasn't uncommon for true classics to be saved and rereleased to the masses, but this one had to be four hundred years old at the least, dating all the way back to the high republic. The signs were everywhere; the ship designs, the long dead phrases, the brief trip to Coruscant in which a chancellor was flanked by blue robed guards. All of it would work to pull the woman in.

Meanwhile, Laeonas was drawn in by the... other aspects of the film. The fight scenes, while not especially graphic, went on for quite awhile. The cat and mouse game between the officers of the law and their quarry, the elusive and psychotic Tony Brevets, had the man riveted to his seat. He seemed to very much dislike the hero of the film however, the undercover officer who was working in Tony's gang. Repeatedly, she'd hear the man mutter the word "Snitch" under his breathe whenever a key scene featuring the man came up.

Ephiny continued to stare at Laeonas, with a look that would be able to freeze a star. It was obvious that he was defying her, he wasn’t going to stop drinking until he finished the entire bottle. Her Padawan was acting as a stubborn child, and he was surprised that the Archivist acted as if she was older than him. He constantly acted like a teenager!

She would allow him to drink the entire bottle, but he would regret getting drunk. Ephiny wasn’t going to let this defiance pass without being punished. Stopping to think about it right now, he was really looking like a mother. The Archivist’s mom would punish her and her brothers if they did something like what Laeonas was doing.

Her eyes lit up with understanding when Laeonas repeated the name of the holomovie, this time correctly. “Ah, Black Heat! I never saw this one, but I heard about it. I think that it won some prizes.” perhaps she should have associated the name of the holomovie from the beginning, but there were some holomovies with similar names. As far as she knew, there could be a “Black Eat”.

The Archivist had noticed how he had struggled trying to say the name of the holomovie properly. There were several “eat” before he said “heat”. Ephiny would take note about it and when they return to the Temple, she would intensify their diction classes.

While Laeonas talked about his childhood, Ephiny compared it with her own. It was so different. She had grown up in a lovely farm of the Mid Rim, with a family that always loved her. They never had problems with money. Meanwhile, her Padawan only had his mother and needed to do several things to survive, some were even crimes. These revelations helped her better understand why the Brentaalan acted this way.

The holomovie was interesting, even more when it showed the details of the culture from centuries ago. She loved to see the old representations of planets. While they watched it, Ephiny noticed how Laeonas seemed to dislike the hero, even muttering his name with some disgust. Since she was always curious, the Archivist couldn’t control herself before asking a question. “Don’t you like him?

Her recognition of the film was a pleasant surprise, one he welcomed with a wide smile. As it wound on, Laeonas would continue to watch and drink, though he seemed to be slowing down. Ephiny had seemed quite serious about her pupil not getting drunk. Usually by this point he'd be about a quarter of the way through a bottle (anything past that would be exceedingly dangerous) but the man had barely taken a few shots after several hours. Ofcourse, with Dak Janyells as strong as it was, the man was going to be a little tipsy regardless.

As the movie wound down and Ephiny whispered her question, Laeonas would turn, a bit surprised by her taking notice. Looking at the screen, he'd scowl as the "hero" wrote out the plans for the heist on the mirror of a rest stop bathroom for the police to find just before they left. "Why would Ai laike 'im?" asked the padawan, turning back to his teacher and temporarily putting the holo aside. "Man's is a karkin' snitch. 'E's leadin' these guys ta gettin' screwed. They could die if shite doesn't go right, and e's makin' sure th'at 'appens." He explained, crossing his arms.

Ofcourse, he was... completely ignoring that the men in question were hardened criminals, and that Tony Brevets was a psychotic murderer who openly took sadistic pleasure in some of the violence he inflicted. The man seemed to care far less about that than he did the officer's actions, which while treasonous, didn't really amount to much in terms of violence. The man wasn't even really a part of the gang, but was an undercover officer-- so it was less treason, and more just the officer doing his job. None of this seemed to matter to the man however; he'd repeatedly curse at the man under his breath, and almost seemed to root for the gangsters.

At the movie's infamous ending scene, when Tony climbed up the large Rhydonium tank, and screamed that equally famous line, "MADE IT MA, TOP OF THE WORLD!" Before firing his blaster into the cannister, Laeonas would watch and almost appear sullen as the man went up in flames. The effects were a little crude by modern standards, but the utter destruction of the scene and the character was thoroughly established. One of the officers made a moral quip that would undoubtedly prevent the holo from getting censored for "glorifying crime" under the antiquated commissions of the day, and than the credits would roll.

Shutting off the flick and the holo, Laeonas would recline in his seat, relaxed, and thoroughly entertained. "Ahh... th'at was great, wasn't it? Total classic, always love revisitin' th'at shite." He added, sighing a bit as he stretched in his seat.

While they were watching the holomovie, Ephiny had noticed how Laeonas was starting to drink less and less. She didn’t expect that he would do it, after all he showed so much defiance to her warning. Perhaps it was due to the movie, he could be so distracted by it that he didn’t care so much for the alcohol.

His explanation for her question surprised Ephiny. He seemed so annoyed by the fact that the character was constantly betraying the gang to the police. They were criminals, this was the correct thing to be done. They should pay for their crimes in prison. If she was in his place, he would do the same.

However, her Padawan seemed to approve of the actions of these criminals. It was as if he was rooting for them. After the conversations that they had, Ephiny knew that the man did some criminal things before joining the Jedi Order. She wondered if Laeonas saw himself as one of these gangsters. Perhaps he even did things like these that appeared in the holomovie.

If it was true, she would need to talk with him about it later. A Jedi couldn’t feel sympathy for criminals. There would be moments where a Jedi needs to deal with gangs. What would Laeonas do when it happens? He couldn’t let them escape because he felt familiar with them. Ephiny would need to teach him how this was wrong. She spent the rest of the holomovie reflecting about it.

After the holomovie ended, Ephiny turned to her Padawan. She had decided to not talk about his opinion about gangs. They could do it after arriving in Uyter. “I think that we could have a pause after seeing this movie. Do you want to eat something? I brought food for us."

"Ya did? Ah, good-- could use a bite ta eat." He replied, leaning forward in his chair. The woman's expression betrayed no emotion, but that left the man just a bit uneasy. "Did she not laike it?" He thought to himself, a bit worried that he'd disappointed his teacher and wasted hours of her time. It was a bizarre thought; while watching a holo, the only opinion on his mind was his own. Concerns over whether or not another enjoyed it just didn't happen. In a way, that still hadn't happened-- he was just more worried about whether or not he'd displeased her.

"Ai uh, don't know 'ow ta... cook. So... yeah." He added, not really knowing what to say beyond that. It wasn't like he was going to ask that she make him dinner, but he didn't actually know how to prepare... well, anything. However, it only took him a few seconds to think up a solution to that issue. "Ai know cookin' doesn't make a Jedi, but Ai wouldn't mind learnin' 'ow ta prepare a quick meal." He would add, smirking a little. "Th'at's as long as ya don't mind teachin' a tipsy paddie 'ow ta cook."

The man would let the offer hang in the air for a few seconds, but he wouldn't wait to long before he stood up. "Ai kinda just... left all mae shite in mae bag, and Ai don't wanna unpack all th'at when Ai'm even more tired in laike, an hour or two, so Ai'm gonna go take care of th'at 'fore we eat." He declared, looping around the couch to exit the holo room. The man stopped himself promptly however, pausing.

"...uh... Ai just realized, where are either of us gonna laike... sleep?" He'd ask, slowly turning to look at his teacher. "Ai... well, there were a couple bunks on tha ship before Ai got it retrofitted, but Ai gutted 'em cause Ai... never expected guests." He said, a bit embarrassed. The truth was, he did expect guests-- but not the kind that would want to sleep outside of his bed. Ephiny was by this point the first and only guest who didn't fit that description-- and he wouldn't consider viewing her any other way. "Ai guess Ai can take tha sofa and ya can take mae room?" He'd mutter aloud.

"Yeah, Ai'll just get mae things and bring 'em in 'ere, 'stead of in mae room."
He finished, having completed the discussion entirely without his teacher's input, despite the fact that she was central to the whole discussion to begin with.

Ephiny smiled with Laeonas' answer. "Good! After we finished cleaning, I left the food in your kitchen. Let's go there." she said, before getting up from the sofa. The Archivist knew that she should talk with him about his vision regarding gangs and criminals, but she still believed that it wasn’t the moment. She needed to find a way to talk with him about it without having the Brentaalan think that she was trying to impose her ideas on him. From what she saw with the alcohol early, her Padawan was stubborn and had difficulty accepting criticism.

After they arrived at the kitchen, Ephiny started to search for the food that she left there. The fridge and the cabinets were mostly empty, she didn’t bring enough to fill all of it only for a small trip. All supplies that Laeonas had there were lost after months without him coming. During the cleaning, they threw all of it in the garbage.

"Of course I can teach you!" Ephiny was still surprised that Laeonas didn’t know how to cook. She wondered how he survived living alone without being able to do that. "We are going to eat something simple, an omelet with cheese." she had brought meat too, but it would take so much time for her to teach him how to do it.

Before she could start to teach him how to cook, Ephiny saw Laeonas rise from his seat. "I'll pick the ingredients while you are unpacking your things. When you return, we start with the lesson." even if being able to cook isn’t part of the training of a Jedi, it still could be a useful ability to have during a mission.

Then, she heard Laeonas' idea for the accommodations that they could use to sleep. Ephiny didn’t feel comfortable sleeping in the man's bed, it was like she was taking his place. "I don't want to bother you. I can sleep on the couch. It would not be a problem." it really wasn’t a problem. After you became a Jedi and start going on missions, you would end up sleeping in worse places than a couch.

An omelet? The man couldn't help but smile when he heard the name of the dish. "Ai've 'ad omelet before! Microwaveable omelet's tha best." He declared-- a statement that would piss off anyone with even a little bit of cooking experience. Yet it spoke volumes about Laeonas' culinary palette that one of his favorite dishes was a cheap, frozen manufactured version of a beloved breakfast dish. The man clearly had a lot to learn even outside of Jedi training.

Her suggestion that he go and unpack prompted a nod, but he still waited for her answer on where either of them should sleep. When Laeonas insisted on sleeping on the couch, his master pushed back just as enthusiastically. "It ain't a bother; Ai'm offerin' ta do it, ain't Ai?" He'd reply, framing it more like a question. "Yer a guest. Guests oughta be comfy. Ya'v already 'elped me out enough ta'day, ya oughta get tha best rest ya can."

His mind seemed made up, and his next words treated the debate like it had ended, adding, "Besides, it's not laike Ai'm lettin' ya keep it. It is mae bed, and Ai'll be needin' it back eventualllll..." The man would trail off, eyes widening. Of all the things they'd cleaned... they hadn't touched his bed. The idea of making his teacher sleep on an unwashed bed with god knows whose underwear. "...y'know, come ta think of it, ya can sleep on the couch."

With that, the man speedwalked down the hall to his room, and for the first time when he wasn't alone and was left unprompted, he made his bed. The comforter was promptly pulled off, the sheets were yanked from where they'd been. Any old article of clothing or... other items, were thrown in the trash-- or stored in his dresser. With that he grabbed his second set of sheets and comforter and set it up on his bed. The whole affair took remarkably short for him, and he hadn't even broken a sweat by the time he was done. Avoiding embarrassment was a prime motivator.

Grabbing his bag, the man would toss it on the bed before heading back into the kitchen. He looked a little disheveled all things considered, but his expression didn't betray how he felt about the situation. Aquamarines sat still, lips remained closed. It was still, but than he spoke up. "Aight, now th'at th'at's taken care of, 'ow about we start crackin' some eggs?"

Do you really like microwaveable omelets? I tasted it when I was on a mission, but thought that it wasn’t so good.” perhaps it was due to her living on a farm where every food was fresh, but Ephiny never liked microwaveable food. It tasted so different from what she used to eat. Rather than something fresh, it seemed to be like old food. “You will love the one made with fresh ingredients.

Laeonas continued insisting that she should sleep on his bed, but Ephiny didn’t agree with him. It was exactly because she was a guest that she didn’t want to have him sleep on the couch. The Archivist was already prepared to argue with the Brentaalan about it, when the man suddenly changed his mind and agreed with her decision.

It surprised her, the Brentaalan showed signs to be very stubborn, rarely changing his mind about something. Ephiny thought that she would need to use all her abilities to convince him to allow her to sleep on the couch. It was easier than she expected. Before she could say anything, Laeonas ran toward his room, leaving the Archivist confused and alone.

Once Laeonas returned, he would see that Ephiny had picked the ingredients and separated the objects they would need to use. “First, I want to show you what we are going to use to make it.” she said with a smile on her lips. This recipe was the one that her mother always did for the family.

She gestured for him to approach him, then pointed to the ingredients in the kitchen table. “I’m going to tell you the name and the amount that we will need, then you will pick it and give it to me.” it was going to be a perfect opportunity for Laeonas to learn how to identify these ingredients. “We will need 3 eggs, 1 tablespoon of milk, salt, pepper, 2 tablespoons butter and ¼ cup of shredded cheese.” Ephiny said, waiting for the Brentaalan to give it to her.

"Oh, fer sure. Ai've uh, never 'ad an omelet th'at wasn't frozen though... actually, there was this one taime at this joint called Lenny's, but Ai 'ad some... di-gest-ive issues." He explained, not wanting to elaborate further. Her insistence that he'd love an omelet made of properly fresh ingredients upped his anticipation considerably. This was a take on his favorite dish that apparently made what he was used to taste bad. What wasn't there to be excited about?

The business in his room completed, he'd return and listen carefully to his teacher's instructions. "A'right, a'right." He would reply, nodding along as he'd glance at the the kitchen table. The egg carton was recognizable enough, as well as the carton of milk. Walking over, he grabbed a block wrapped in foil, which would smoosh in his hand. He'd blink, looking down at the butter oozing across his palm. "Ew." He'd declare, before placing the ruined stick back down.

"Uhh... okay, sooooo... th'at's tha salt and pepper... and th'at's tha cheese... yeah, this all makes sense." He'd mutter. The man didn't own any measuring cups, and while Ephiny had brought plenty of kitchenware, they were still lacking. Thinking up a quick solution, he brought out the same plastic cups he'd used for drinking during the movie. Opening up a drawer, he pulled out an ink marker, and left little marks on the 16 ounce cups to display quantities. "Remind me ta buy some cookin' dishes when we make our first pitstop."

He'd grab a spoon and begin putting the ingredients into different cups, tossing the butter in with the milk, as well as the salt with the pepper. The cheese went in it's own cup, and the Knight would be able to watch her Padawan's feeble attempts at trying to shred the cheese before he finally figured it out on his own. With all the ingredients presented and placed on the counter, the man would grab a pan, and the eggs. What followed was, perhaps, an absolutely embarrassing display. The man broke the eggs in all the worst ways possible-- crushing them with his fingers, thumbing it-- it created quite a mess.

It would only subside after he finally tried cracking the egg on the rim of the pan, finally figuring out the proper method after wasting four eggs. If Ephiny would've tried to intervene, he would've shoo'd her away, adding, "Ai've got it, Ai've got it!" Insisting that he could take care of it himself. Though, with the eggs cracked, he wasn't really sure if he'd actually done it correctly. So after the shoo'ing was finished, he'd promptly ask, "eh, does this look raight t'ya?"

Ephiny watched Laeonas picking the ingredients that she asked. While he easily identified the egg and the milk, the Archivist noticed how the man had grabbed the butter with much strength, smooshing it. She didn’t intervene on it, deciding that the Padawan should learn about these small details of life by himself. Now she was certain that he would not strangle butter anymore.

There weren't many other problems for the Brentaalan to gather the necessary ingredients. When she saw Laeonas marking the plastic cups to make improvised measuring ones, Ephiny smiled and nodded at him. It was really a clever way to deal with it. “Good work. I’ll remind you when we arrive at Uyter.” this display of creativity made her think that perhaps the rest of the cooking class would be calm.

However, she was wrong. Laeonas started to have problems with breaking the eggs, not being able to do it without leaving shells in the pan. Ephiny even tried to help him with it, but the man shooed her away. The Archivist should be happy for her Padawan showing this independence and wanting to solve this situation by himself, but the four good eggs that were wasted was so sad to see, especially with food being so expensive these days.

Finally, Laeonas was able to break the eggs without leaving shells. “Yes, this is right. With more practice, you will learn how to do it more easily.” she only hoped that there would be enough eggs on Yavin IV for her Padawan to practice. “Now we start cooking properly. You will need to beat the eggs with a whisk, adding milk and season with salt and pepper. Do it for a few minutes until the egg mixture is foamy.

Then, Ephiny picked the whisk from the table. “It’s called whisk. People use it to beat eggs that are going to be used in several recipes, such as omelets and cakes.” she gave it to Laeonas. “Be careful when using it. You can't use it with much strength because the egg can fly everywhere. While you do it, I’ll melt the butter in medium-low heat. After it’s melted, we are going to pour the egg there.

After saying it, the Archivist placed the necessary butter in another pan and moved it to the stove. Laeonas would be able to see her putting it in a medium-low heat, something that he would know how to do later. Once the pan was on the fire, she waited for the butter to melt.

"...beat... tha eggs?" He'd repeat, unsure if he heard her right. Looking down at the eggs in the pan, he'd blink a few times, looking at the odd implement in his hand. "This... whisky thing doesn't look laike it'll do tha job." He said, rotating the instrument in his hand. The explanation only got more confusing as she instructed him to not use much strength. "So ya want me ta gently beat it? What, did it talk back?" He'd tease, trying to crack a joke to mask how utterly confused he was.

The man looked down at the pan, considering his options. He had to be gentle, but he also needed to beat it until it was... foamy? Wouldn't the eggs get smooshed if he kept beating it? He stood there, squinting as he looked down at the eggs, lips pursed. Staring at the whisk, than at the eggs, and than the pan, his expression only grew more serious. Slowly, he opened his mouth, before glancing up at the cabinets.

"Ai'm gonna... do this in a bowl." He declared, opening it wide and pulling out a large, steel bowl and placing it on the counter. Pouring the eggs in, the man set the pan he'd use aside for the moment. Taking the whisk, gently, he'd smack the eggs-- but even that caused a small splatter effect. "Damnit." He muttered, doing it softer, and softer still. Eventually the man decided he wouldn't pull it out any more, and instead he began pressing the whisk down against the bottom of the bowl, almost like he was driving in a knife.

Aside from a bit of bubbling, there really wasn't any foamy texture developing. Yet as he shifted the whisk around, letting it slide along the bottom and rotate around the eggs, he noticed how the consistency would begin to blend together. The texture was beginning to remind him of the omelets he'd eat, with their fluffy texture and light yellow coloring. As he began to rotate the whisk around a bit more, it dawned on him that he had to be doing something right. He maintained the rotation for a few minutes, keeping it up as it grew more and more consistent, and more and more light.

"Why'd ya call this a beatin'? Ai ain't 'ittin' this at all!" He exclaimed, glancing over at his teacher with an amused expression. "Ai mean... am Ai doin' this right?" He'd ask, a bit concerned that he was ruining even more eggs. "Ai mean, it don't look laike it."

Ephiny was watching the butter melt when she heard Laeonas talk. Turning to him, the Archivist saw her Acolyte staring at the whisk as it was something from another dimension. She wondered if he had never seen it. Hasn't his mother ever cooked for him before?

She saw the Brentaalan pick a bowl and put the eggs inside it. This was clever, it would avoid the eggs spilling everywhere when he starts to beat it. Perhaps her Padawan was learning how to cook. However, Ephiny changed her mind when she saw him literally start to beat the food with the whisk.

This scene made the Archivist start to laugh uncontrollably. Ephiny never thought that she was going to see a scene like this one before, a grown man beating a bunch of eggs with a whisk as if they were some type of criminal. It was so bizarre and hilarious! She couldn’t control her laugh and soon her stomach started to hurt because of it.

When she was calm enough, Ephiny saw that Laeonas was now doing it right. “Sorry.” the Archivist said, now being embarrassed because of her uncontrollable laugh. “Good work! You are doing it right now and without my help!” it seemed that even if the Brentaalan didn’t know how to do something at first, he always seemed to learn by himself and fast. She was proud of him.

Before answering his question about beating, Ephiny quickly turned to the oven. She had remembered that the butter was still melting on the pan. Thankfully, it didn’t burn. “Now you pour the egg and mixture using a spoon.” she said, while giving him space to walk to the oven.

The beat there doesn’t mean that you are going to hit the eggs. It’s more as if you are going to make movements that will mix it.” she explained to him. “This use of the same words, but to different things is common. When we return to the Temple, I’ll teach you about it in the grammar classes.
