I don't see why the Senate is necessarily the enemy of the Sith, so long as the Sith are not invading.

Also, just on this point, but canonically the Republic has been fighting the Sith on and off for quite literally millenia. I think part of the reason the Republic doesn't want to acknowledge another Sith uprising is that the galaxy will pretty much panic the moment that the Republic acknowledges they exist. Diplomatically, the Republic is faced with a choice to either commit to the war, or ignore them entirely. Diplomacy doesn't really make much sense when you factor in that historical context.

Good feedback Green Ranger, I agree with your point on the Republic being a natural yet hesitant enemy of the Sith given what you said. I also agree that the development of further military potential by the Jedi is better left to organic development through RP rather than starting off with it from the get go. I'm going to head on over to that workshop and pose the idea I have there.

I wanted to ask about the new Character to Faction relation.
In the Coming Timeline i was planning on having an Independent/contract hunter esc character meet a force sensetive character (who would become a jedi over the course of time).
Would it be possible to have this said Jedi character, but also have the independent factionless character aswell? or would I have to have them both Either on the Jedi's side, or Independent?

@knightfall You can have 3 characters max, and then you can have 1 or 2 of those in ONE of the three main factions. The other 1 or 2 can be in any combination of Indies, but not another main. Thus, your combination would work just fine as Jedi + Indie. You just couldn't spin up a third in the Senate or Sith.

Seems reasonable to me, then thankfully It'll work. Thanks for answering.

Is it possible for an Indie faction to become so large that they become a major faction? If so, what would be the requirements to qualify as a major faction?

This was already answered in the main timeline announcement I think, an indie faction can never become a Main Faction.

Ah, I see. I may have skipped over it.

That's not true.

The answer is "never say never," but it's very unlikely because of the size disparity between mains and indies. The best role for an indie faction is to try to get influence and to work with main factions, not to try to become a main faction themselves. Because main factions aren't just about size. They're also about, "can the story work without this faction being a main faction?" The Jedi, the Sith, and the Republic need to be main factions for the story to work. Indie factions don't.

Thanks for clearing that up. It was more a question of curiosity than conquest. BUT! Is this too early to post a single character? If it isn't, shall we post in the old place or will there be a new one for DotR?

There's a timeline workshop board you can post character drafts in, but you will have to repost it in the actual profiles board once the new timeline starts.

How many characters can I have in the main faction I choose? You can have up to two (2) characters in the main faction you choose. So if you choose to join the Jedi, you can have a maximum of two Jedi characters. Your third character slot would have to be an independent character.
Are Sith and SBZ considered the same "main faction?" I.E., can I only have 2 Sith/1Sith-1SB/2SBZ + 1 Indie? Or is 1 SBZ 2 Sith fine? Likewise, are Senate and BA considered the same "main faction?"

Lords of the Sith and Sacred Band of Ziost are part of the Sith faction, so yes they're the same main faction.

Likewise, the Border Alliance and the Senate are part of the Republic faction, so they are the same main faction.

I suppose I should ask for a clarification when it comes to indies. I see that a lot of people are making 3 indies, and they are in separate indie factions, I read through the rules and it doesn't clearly specify, but I thought I would bring it up. Along, with another thing, if you have two characters in a main faction--your idie character is not allowed to be apart of an indie faction--I figured it was implied, but I thought I would clarify it with you guys. That way if there is an issue you could address the players.

You can only have a character(s) in a single Main Faction. Your indie can be a part of any non-Main Faction(s).
