[The unyielding man]

Beginning this character I picked something from the timeline pre-skip an interesting tid-bit about mothballed fleets I assume was placed in there for fluff. Well when the skip came this tid-bit was removed the problem being this tid-bit while small was the keystone to character to become what they are. So the question being to I proceed with the character as is, alter the character to fit the new timeline, or begin anew with an entirely new concept?

I'd say, depending on what your concept is (you haven't told us, aside from that it deals with the mothballed fleets), maybe run it by the admins? Or throw it up already and make the changes if necessary.

The character she is meant to be a treasure hunter who spent all of her life in a small merchant fleet. During her raising her father was to tell her stories of the wonders of the galaxy one of the stories told was to be the tale of the time of the peace that lead to the mothballing of those fleets. The story would be her inspiration to leave the fleet to find these mothballed fleet as perhaps a way to restore the peace

That one is pretty easy to remedy. You can make the Mothballed Fleet a very plausible rumor. That way, even if the admins don't approve it, it can still be a focus of your character. It give your character a sense of urgency if the rumors prove to be false. What does she do then? Are there other options? Oh No!!
