____Righto, folks.

Some of you may know that some time ago I created a character profile designed for use in-character (LINK 1). Weiss then took what I had created, and then beautifully adapted it to suit the perspective of the Rebels (LINK 2). Now, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Character In-Character Information File 3.0, complete with multi-faction use.

Now, its entirely up to the Faction Leaders of each faction if they choose to utilise these templates in any official capacity. FL's, if you would like these formats changed to better suit your faction, let me know and I'll edit accordingly.

For your viewing pleasure I have prepared four spoilerific tags for you. The first is an example of how the template looks when completely filled out.

The second, third, and fourth spoiler tags are templates for the RAID (Rebel Alliance Intelligence Database), ISB (Imperial Security Bureau) and NSC (Natori Security Company, Hutt Cartel). Each of these last three tags will have a section in a box that looks like this;

Why should we use this template, over the 1.0 and 2.0 versions?

Thats a great question, kids. First and foremost, the old templates were very easy to mutilate by using incorrectly sized images. This template, if you look closely, has absolutely no 'width' conditions on any of the BBcode, meaning that nothing mutilates itself beyond all recognition if you do drop a hideously large image in there. (I recommend keeping it below 250px wide, however).

What's the difference between this and the normal template provided by SWRP Staff?

A fair bit, really. This template has the flexibility to be solely in-character information. By that I mean; Characters with appropriate access to these folders; Imperial Officers to the ISB Files, Rebel Officers to RAID files, and Cartel Enforcers to NSC files - can actually use these files as IC access points for information for use within the RP. In the past these have been used in this way, with a clear divider of what information is accessible IC and what is for OOC purposes.

Its up to you, of course. When in doubt, ask the question!

Why would I want my character to have a biography available to the 'public'?

You could want other characters to pursue yours? You could have established your character well enough in the story to be on someone's radar?

I don't know, its your character! The opportunities are limitless, of course!

What if the examples provided aren't quite right for me?

No problem. All that varies between them are;
  • The 'File' Type text. Which is easily interchangeable; RAID, ISB, NSC, etc.
  • The Faction image. For alternates, see Post #2 of Starburns' Character Template.
  • Last, but not least; the colour of some of the text. Easily interchangeable with most word processing programs. Utilising the Find & Replace feature that Microsoft Word, Pages, Notepad and Text Edit all offer you just;
    1. Find the BBcode that needs changing; in most cases its a [noparse][color=orange][/noparse] tag. (There should be 19 of them)
    2. Replace them with a colour that more accurately matches the Faction image you've chosen.
And with at, you're done!

If you do intend on changing the format like this, please keep your edits within the realms of reasonable and plausible.

Hehe, i noticed that, but couldn't be bothered changing it, because its a field that gets deleted and replaced anyway, so s'all good.
But in fact, it actually says Fair colour on all three of them.

Nice! I haven't done this yet, but I hope to take the time someday. I don't like scrolling side to side for each line in order to read someone's profile. If nobody had a profile width I could just sit and read, I wouldn't read them. In my own profile, I had trouble centering rows and spacing information for skills within lists. I did finally manage to center the information within the section, but it only appears centered wile the box is aligned to the left to begin with. I don't have any fancy software for it, nor the aptitude! Some people's are just so purdy!
