Hey everyone. I want to get back into the game and I have a rough idea of what I want to do. I would like some feedback and help, turning my concept into something viable and interesting without following down roads which everyone has before. I use to play Mandalorians and Jedi, but since there seems to be only a minimal Mandalorian presence (please correct me if I am wrong!!) and I would like to try a Grey Jedi, I am going to go for a force user.

I would like to start as a master, but since my highest rank was Knight, I don't think that is a possibility. I was thinking something along these lines:

Idea said:
X was a controversial member of the Jedi Order who propagated the idea of the Unifying Force. This was controversial amongst the Jedi, for although there had always been believers, most of them kept such beliefs to themselves. The wars against the Sith polarised opinion strongly against an already barely tolerated practice and rumours were abound that X was an apologist of Dark Side users.

He never attained the rank of Master due to his strained relationship with the Jedi Council and the later corruption of one of his former students. Several Jedi had been killed by this student before X hunted him/her down, against the wishes of the council. After confronting his former student and their new dark side master, he killed both of them before being surrounded by enemy forces. Trying to escape he is heavily wounded, seemingly falling to his death.

Afterwards some time a Jedi party retrieves his lightsaber. The recovery of his weapon was seen as proof of his death because he had seemingly vanished from the sight of the Order and for a practitioner of Makashi, there is no dishonour greater than being disarmed. In reality, however, he was rescued by Y Z and nursed back to health. He was told of the Jedi search party but they they didn't know if they were friendly or hostile.
X was emotionally and physically drained by the conflict in the force and tried to lead a life of meditation, honing his force abilities. For a reason, perhaps a vision, he feels compelled to leave his new retreat and fight against Jedi/Sith/Something.

I was thinking he would be a master of the basic powers, he will be using powers to cloak his force presence. I was thinking that his "cloaking" would be his speciality and another reason why some Jedi distrusted him because they couldnt read his mind and he could manipulate his power. In regards to lightsaber skills, he practices with a quarterstaff but he hasn't had the chance to really practice in 20 years, so his mastery of forms has been drastically effected... Now he can hit people with a massive stick, really really well... I imagine that after some practice he would reach a certain level but never reach the level that he once did. He is still a warrior but he has been spending his time honing his powers in the force.

I am not too sure who he would want to kill though or the real reason why he would get back involved.

Any thoughts? Cheers now

Well, the way the Force is handled now-a-days (read: Guide to Force Powers) unfortunately means there is almost no room for "Grey" Jedi. The Force is interpreted along very narrow lines now. Either you're "Light" or your're "Dark". No real room to play the zone in between.

Concepts like the Unifying Force have also gone to the wayside, replaced simply with the Living Force and the cosmic Force (wiki link for reference - read the CANON tab as "Legends" stuff no longer applies to this site outside of planets, species and some tech).

Not really a "critique" of you idea, per se. Just some info to keep in mind while you're developing this dude so he "meshes" well with all that tricky Force business.

Also while there isnt any Mandalorian Main Faction like there was this timeline, we do indeed have a presence and intend to be quite involved in the overall storyline. I present to you
Ha'rangir's Chosen. While i know its not as exciting as having a main faction that is directly involved in the story, being mercenaries does give us a bit of leeway in who and when we fight.

Also if you are not interested in that mercenary life, the Border Alliance, precursor to the now Grand Army of the Republic, was originally written with having a heavily Mandalorian influence.
