BIOGRAPHY
Nef Kolas was born to a Baron family on the Shistavanen homeworld Uvena Prime. Generally speaking his early life was typical of a lower-noble; he was given a private education, martial training, taught proper etiquette, etc. Growing up, Nef felt.. alone. The third to a set of four children, he was the middle child. His oldest brother managed the estate, second oldest brother handled the family's hotel and other business dealings, and his younger sister more often than not held the constant attention of their parents while being coddled all the way. He felt out of place without a tangible purpose, no real expectations or set life goals.
Around age eighteen, Nef decided to travel to Tepasi on his own to study biology, chemistry and medicine. Science, and more specifically medical science, seemed rather interesting to the young Shistavanen. He wasn't needed for the family business, so he thought he might as well take what assets he could and put that towards helping others. While living on Tepasi he met a man named Vriss Dral, a Trandoshan smuggler that called the planet his home. Meeting at a cantina, more specifically the first cantina Nef's been to in his life, Vriss impressed the wolf with his care-free and extroverted personality. His demeanor was in sharp contrast to the sheltered nobleman that just wanted to learn about medicine.
As the years went on, the two men would become friends and later lovers. Nef found the smuggler exciting and alluring, while Vriss just thought the medical student was a cute and simple man to come home to after jobs. This was nice for a while, always being entranced by the various stories of adventure and intrigue whenever there were stories to tell.. and sometimes even when there weren't and Vriss just wanted to sound more interesting. About half way through Nef's studies, and four years into the relationship, Vriss left for a job and never came back.
Initially this left the Shistavanen confused, it was only meant to take a few days right? Days turned to weeks, weeks to months and months to years. Eventually he got tired of waiting and focused purely on getting his MD-PhD, which he was able to get by the time he turned twenty-five. After getting his doctorate he would travel from Tepasi to Alderaan and enlist into the Republic's military as a medic.

Personality
Nef is a man that can have trouble expressing himself sometimes, and be totally oblivious other times. He attempts to portray himself as confident and collected, but that doesn't always work out when he ends up shy and missing social queues. Despite being hard-headed from time to time he is quite friendly and empathetic day-to-day, wanting to help as many people as possible wherever he can even to the detriment of himself.
