I wonder, as I am unaware to the rule of SW, would it be possibly for a force user to use Laser-edged/Vibro-edged Chakrams/Wind-and-Fire wheels? Possibly with a shield on the opposite side of the side where there is a handle? The shielding is still being debated in my head. If a Chakram is a viable weapon for say, a Jedi, when would they most likely take on such a weapon? Padawan, Knight? As I had an idea for a Jedi who used them, as that would be a freaking great Force Throw type weapon. Anyways, post your idea on the matter, though I'd prefer Endless stay out.

I wouldn't know why it couldn't work. But hey that weapon would be quite good for my purposes.

Cortosis is a newly discovered mineral in our timeline. It's just starting to be used in lightsaber resistant swords. Because of that, I think I speak for the staff when I say that discblades can't be used.

Alright, laser-edged? Edit: By that I mean a chakram like weapon with laser edges like that of a lightsaber.

I'd say no. Canonically speaking, we shouldn't even be allowing lightsabers, but we've made that allowances so we can keep the feel and spirit of Star Wars. We're not going to go over the top, though.

I doubt simply putting laser edges to a chakram weapon would hurt much. I mean yeah, lightsabers at this point of time should be hooked to power packs, that or using katanas (By the way why the hell are we so far in the past?) Anyways, if thats your decision, fine, but I highly doubt allowing laser edged chakrams would really add to the canon breaking.

Any laser-edged whatever that thing is would have to be as powerful as a lightsaber to make any sense in a combat situation in Star Wars. If you're facing enemies with blasters, then you're totally open to attack if you're throwing it at them. If you're facing enemies with a lightsaber, then if this weapon's weaker then you're just going to wind up being dead.

It doesn't make sense in this timeline.

Aren't we allowing some kind of chemical treatment to allow lightsaber resistent weapons?

Since cortosis isn't lightsaber resistent anyways. It just shuts lightsabers off.

A difference that's always made me sigh at games with "cortosis weave" weapons.

There are two different types of cortosis. One shuts off the lightsaber, the other resists it. That's canon.

Actually, cortosis-weave is lightsaber resistent in the current Version of the Canon, however Cortosis not utilized with the Cortosis-Weave technique just shuts it off - and after a few blows with the Lightsaber, it could simply cut through it like any other metal.
Cortosis-Weave
Cortosis

EDIT:
Brandon beat me to the punch... ARGH!

Well excuse me princess.

:CHappy:

Ok. But don't we have the chemical treatments nonetheless? Or did that change in the revisions of our own little canon?

You people keep mixing that all up. I fixed it for ya, this time.

If i remember correctly, we didn't have cortosis before the jump. So, it stands to reason that the technology is still in its infancy, and exotic use of the weave wouldn't even be attempted at this point.

tl;dr: just use a vibroblade ffs.

A few things, friend.

There is more than one reason that this cannot work, the first is explained by Brandon Rhea and the second is more common sense to those who know a little bit about a lightsaber. The main purpose of the shape most popular is the hilt which holds everything necessary for the blade to 'work' if you like. I'm intrigued, where would the main mechanics in your 'chakrams' be held? To my knowledge they are created in a three-sixty degree shape, where would the primary crystal, energizers, power cells etc be held?
