DESCRIPTION

With the steady advancement of droid technology, as well as a noted influx in their use across the galaxy in both security and martial applications, the need for a reliable and readily accessible solution to synthetic problems grew as well. This need served as the driving force behind the increasing research and development of Ion blaster technology, particularly within the massive and profit-chasing conglomerate of Czerka Corporation.

Utilizing research from what few Ion weapons are currently in existence, namely those produced during the previous war by previous companies seeking to dominate the budding market from the ground level, Czerka Arms took the task of perfecting the technology and making it their own upon themselves. After pain-staking research and development within their so-named subdivision, a reliable product was born in the form of the CA-ARD-10iBPP, with its official full designation being the Czerka Arms - Applied Research and Development - Model 10 Ion Blaster Pistol Prototype. After the weapon passed controlled and field testing, the marketing department of Czerka Arms refined the name into the more concise ‘CARD-10i’ Ion Pistol, soon after issuing sizeable manufacturing orders and advertising campaigns to get the weapon into the hands of desirous consumers.

The weapon itself is rather straightforward, at least in the way new tech can be. The CARD-10i is, as advertised, an Ion-based energy weapon, with its owners finding it most effective against security droids or armored opponents wearing armor with a plethora of electronic improvements or modifications. True to its design as a pistol, it’s power is comparable to a standard blaster pistol in relation to a blaster rifle, meaning that the CARD contains reduced power relative to more powerful Ion rifles. However, where the CARD truly shines is with it’s rate of fire and moderately increased ammunition capacity relative to rifle variants, combined with its lighter weight and considerations to heat management within its design and material choice.

When using the CARD-10i, one can expect it to perform exceedingly well against standard security droids, older battle droids or battle droids with lighter armor, with the pistol able to permanently disable such droids with one shot at their center of mass or head module. Droids bearing heavier armor may require two shots or more, depending on the thickness of their armor as well as the material used in their construction. Given the fact that Ion-damage essentially takes the shape of highly concentrated electrical particles shorting out circuitry that droids rely upon, naturally droids containing conductive-resistant material within their outer casings would be able to take one shot without suffering adverse effects. As stated above, when encountering such droids, a second or third shot will suffice in disabling such targets.

Further, should this weapon be used against those wearing advanced armor, one can expect the armor’s electrical functions and modifications to be effectively disabled, with affected sections requiring restoration after the fact to retain their functionality. In some cases, replacement of such modules or functions may be in order. It should be noted that the CARD is NOT as effective against pieces of machinery larger than a battle droid in excess of 2 meters tall. Speeders, space-craft, and military vehicles are all but invulnerable to its effects.

LEGALITY
Legal, and is in fact advertised widely throughout the galaxy as a ‘must-have’ defensive measure against rampant droids. It should be noted that it is more expensive than a standard blaster pistol given that Ion technology is a bit newer than blaster tech.

INTENT
To fill the role as a compact Ion weapon for those who do not wish to carry a heavier rifle option.

ADVANCED TECH
Yes. While it is legal to own and requires a simple plot to acquire, supplies are limited given it’s newer technology.

Ion weaponry is supposed to be rare and expensive, so that alone should make it advance tech. Furthermore, I'd ask that you reduce both that range and capacity to well below average for blasters weapons.

Sure. Would a range of 30 meters and a capacity of 10 work? Or possibly 8?
