At the edge of the cathedral, Vex stood dawned in her Away armor and a thick black cloak. With the aid of the Force, her body temperature was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold.

Men were scattered about working, reinforcing and refreshening the newly seized cathedral. Kalladrrl was with her again; the pair seemed to be assigned to the same missions fairly often now, not that she'd complain. Together they had never failed a mission. Plus she enjoyed his company even if she remained as professional and distant as possible while they were on the field.

Two workers looked up suddenly which caught Vex's attention, drawing her yellow gaze their way. A few seconds later they returned to work without anything exciting happening. It seemed something had spooked them or they spooked themselves. Either way, Vex decided to walk in the direction of the two workers and look around.

Kalladrrl did not need the cloak that whipped in the icy wind about him to stay warm. He didn't need the armor to keep the cold off, either. Nature had seen fit to grant him a coat that helped him avoid frigid temperatures that sent other beings huddling for shelter, especially those who were without a sense for the Force. He did not need to rely on his other abilities, evolution having instead outfitted him for war in numerous theaters and in a plethora of variable terrain.

He'd take ice over the blazing suns of Tatooine any day.

And he'd take on any planet if he had Vex with him.

Although, he did wish he could see her face and her beautiful shock of fiery hair that would contrast gorgeous face and the fiery, coppery color of her hair under the odd half-light that surrounded the cathedral. He wouldn’t ask her...yet. Vex wouldn’t appreciate any break in their business-like professional demeanor if she could help it, but Kalladrrl wasn’t quite as disciplined and he honestly loved getting her to loosen up just enough so that the force of her charms would break through that guarded exterior and make her deadlier and lovelier for it. Perhaps when their objective was closer to completion and the clouds broke to reveal the silvery moon, setting to light the picturesque, but forbidding landscape that threatened to swallow the Sith and the cathedral. Rhen Var was cruel, but Kalladrrl could be cruel too. He certainly didn’t mind it as much as the workers did.

The menials who toiled under their supervision complained at every available opportunity about their working conditions, even as vast heating lamps were set up to warm them and they wore thickly padded environmental suits to dampen much of the cold. Maybe it was the atmosphere of the imposing edifice and the stark surroundings sapping away their morale. Maybe it was the darkness, both spiritual darkness and an actual lack of illumination.

Some of the workers were jumpy too, said that raiders and pirates were lurking in the shadows, just waiting for guard to lower at the cathedral before they struck.

It was whispers like those that made Kalladrrl angry. There might be more pathetic scum circling on the periphery like hungry jackals, but Kalladrrl and Vex were the hunters. They would put down any threat against the Imperial efforts here and show those menial fools the way of the New Order.

He saw a pair of laborers get agitated enough that it attracted Vex’s attention and he followed behind her, but he did not detect any intruders as of yet, despite their presence. Still, his left hand went to his lightsaber and drew it into his hand as he suffused himself with the power of the Force.

With a clink, a rock randomly fell in front of Vex. Her gaze instantly snapped up above her, catching a man's face and foot in their view. The part of the roof he was on was not complete but he ducked back into cover where it was. Without thinking she brought her lightsaber to her hand with a snap-hiss, filling the area around her with an eerie glow.

"Above us!" she hissed, just as her eyes caught two men leaning out from behind some rubble to fire at her. She knew there was probably more men around but focused on the two for now. Circling around a nearby pillar to dodge the bolts and anymore coming her way before emerging and summoning a wave of Force to bury the two men in their poor choice of a hiding place.

Her eyes snapped to some guards who made their way towards the ladder to the roof before she went to the rubble, grabbing the one man that wasn't completely covered. Wrapping the Force around his throat, pulling him out of the mess up into the air.

"How many of you are there?"
Vex growled.

All the man managed to mutter was, "G...g...get karked." A smirk marked her reaction as she replied simply, "Very well." She reached out, digging through his mind as the man squirmed and desperately tried to take air into his lungs. Inside his mind she found the answer she wanted. "Seven men. Two here, five on the roof." But she didn't stop there. She clawed and crawled through his mind until she struck a cord and he started to fight back, then she pushed even harder. Pushing him to the point of no return, liquefying his mind before letting him fall limply to the ground.

The War Master broke into a run, his long and loping strides carrying him at a faster pace than any unaided by the Force could hope to match. It took him less than five seconds to reach the cathedral’s edges, stepping into the cold air of Rhem Var as snow swirled around him. Vex would look most beautiful out in this barren landscape, like a fiery flower blooming from utter glacial gloom. Kalladrrl was greeted by standardized Imperial scaffolding and he began to ascend the twisting, makeshift staircase that lead to the vaulted ceiling of the edifice. As he climbed, he reached for his belt and drew the blood-red lightsaber into his left hand, the weapon roaring to life and bathing him in its foreboding glow as flakes of snow evaporated with gentle hisses as they touched the blade of plasma. The hum of the weapon was a welcome friend by now and it would spell doom to the enemies of the Empire.

With each step, the power of the Force gathered within him and as his massive steps brought him straight into a group of five pirates establishing their post on the cathedral’s roof, he let loose an expanding wave of telekinetic potential that carried three of them clear off the roof, their screams echoing into the frosty night as they careened toward their death. The other two were knocked prone, caught off-guard by the Wookiee supernatural attack. Kalladrrl couldn’t help but grin viciously at the efficacy of his strike as he drew his right leg back, his lightsaber a pillar of luminescence in the murky darkness above the cathedral.
