Just quickly, I watch all my shows online and for some reason it screws up which episode is which for Rebels. For example, it did the Spark of Rebellion movie twice for Episodes 1 and 2 and missed out Vision of Hope completely. Not sure why I got this ep under its actual name and everything, especially quite early, but I loved it.

The not so spoilery version is: It was based around the Rebels getting into an Imp control tower to get out a message to Lothal and neighboring systems with the truth of what is happening on Lothal after the Imperials do a little propeganda broadcast, which ultimately ends with Kanan symbolically martyring himself (giving himself up) so the others can get away after a certain Imperial Official comes to Lothal.

[HEAVY SPOILERS]

Loved this episode. Tarkin coming in really changed up the foundation of the Empires Forces on Lothal. It was an awesome touch having the classic Star Wars baddie music play when he arrives. Tarkins arrival also gave us nice contrasts with the other high ranking bad guys on Lothal. Aside from the Inquisitor, who REALLY comes off as a badass in this episode, the others seemed totally inadequate. Agent Kallus was given quite the telling off and even showed shock at Tarkins methods, for example Tarkin having the Inquisitor kill off those two Imperial Officers that have been chasing the Rebels for some time. The Episode goes out of its way to point out that Tarkin is on a completely different tier to the villains we've gotten so far. Heck, even the Inquisitor is shown to be the equivalent of the dirt beneath Tarkins boots.

Other than Tarkin, the whole episode was pretty cool. Ezra got some progression, apparently Kanans getting better at swordplay and Zeb continues to grow on me as a character. Ezra gives an awesome speech over changing scenes of citizens and the like before Tarkin cuts it off by blowing the Tower to hell, because he knows how to win wars.

Overall, I give the ep 9/10 compared to what its done so far. ^_^ My fave ep is Path of the Jedi, but this is a close second. Can't wait for another episode of Tarkin because as a whole having the character on the show just seems to elevate it to that next level. Ever since Empire Day, I've found myself looking forward to these episodes each week. :D

Main thing I was excited to see about this episode was that it was willing to show a defeat (for now) on the Rebels part. I'm sure there will be a planet wide rebellion, or something of that extent. Tarkin was cool. The trope where there's a more badass badass, which scares the lesser badasses is pretty badass to me.

I loved this episode. It was the best of the series so far, and it was classic Star Wars all the way through. Some jumbled thoughts:

- I loved that Tarkin put all of the Imperials in their place for being incompetent. Especially when Tarkin slammed the Inquisitor, and the Inquisitor just had to stand there and take it. Much like Vader, we see a powerful villain forced to be subservient to Tarkin.

- The execution of Aresko and Grint was unexpected. So much for Disneyfication, haters. I especially liked Kallus' and Tua's reactions, as they were stunned by what Tarkin had done to their officers.

- Tarkin talking about the fall of the Jedi was chilling. It fit well with his characterization from The Clone Wars, where he saw the Jedi as a pointless relic of an old age. He felt it dangerous that they led the Clone Wars because he saw them as irrelevant. To him they were ancient people who stuck around too long. Useful once, perhaps, but not anymore. He could care less that they died. And it serves as some neat propaganda too, considering the people of the galaxy probably never saw the Jedi that much, just heard about them. The galaxy can now see them as a dead religion relegated to the tales of folklore. I think that scene really helped show why the Imperials in Episode IV talk about the Jedi as an ancient religion, despite them having been around twenty years earlier. Here's the scene if you haven't watched the episode yet:

- The return of Stephen Stanton as Tarkin was appreciated. He's great in the role.

- Kanan vs the Inquisitor was a good fight. Kanan is getting better, but the Inquisitor is still the better.

- I really like how the Jedi in this show are being portrayed as connected to nature, particularly through animals. We saw a bit of this in "Empire Day" and "Gathering Forces," and Ezra used it again effectively in this episode when he was able to get the Loth-cat to attack the probe.

- Despite the fact that it will be short-lived, I thought Kanan's sacrifice was done well.

- One thing I'd change? This was an idea JP had: instead of using the "Imperial March" when Tarkin arrived (which made me think Darth Vader was about to show up), they should've used the Imperial motif, or a variation of it, from Episode IV. That would've been fitting for Tarkin.

Now here's my theory for the end of the season: I think that Lothal is going to get sacked. I think we're to assume that there will be a happy rebellious uprising because of Ezra's transmission, but in reality the Empire will devastate Lothal. I think Tarkin hinted at that. He destroyed the comm tower and told Kanan that he (as in Tarkin) knows what it takes to win a war. He also later destroys Alderaan just to make a point. He would absolutely sack Lothal in order to quell a rebellion on that planet. We've seen a possible hint to that in "Rise of the Old Masters" as well, where Alton Kastle says that the Empire has performed "another successful planetary liberation utilizing the Base Delta Zero initiative." At first that seemed like a throwaway gag; now I think it's foreshadowing.

p.s.
With names like Sheev and Wilhuff, it's no wonder these people turned out the way they did.

I also felt like it was the best episode on the series, and a good accomplishment, considering the fact that they had one of the Empire's major officials in the episode.
