Music boomed from the cantina's speakers so harshly that Levi was half surprised they didn't just get blown out. Baby's was a seedy place with a shitty budget, but it seemed their sound system was certainly not subpar—always a good sign. The fact that he genuinely liked the music was also a plus.
The environment—and his appreciation for such rough music—would likely not be viewed very favorably in the eyes of other Jedi, but he wasn't on Jedha or Ifrane today. He wasn't prowling the temple for new training sessions or meditating. No, today he was on Nar Shaddaa, sitting on a couch at 2 AM playing pazaak with the Galaxy's worst and enjoying every minute of it. You really can never take the street urchin out of the rebel.
There was a table in front of his couch, with another couch at the end—his opponent sitting on it. Though he didn't know who she was, he'd gotten a few glances in when the neon lights sweeped over them. The club was packed today, with people even brushing up against the edges of their table, and the lighting was dim when the purple bulbs weren't scanning over them like search-lights.
"I broke the law in Nar Shaddaa—and I'd do it again," he muttered under his breath along with the music, audible only to himself. His eyes were set on his cards—the game had just started and the two had just drawn their hands.
"You look like you've either played Pazaak every day of your life and are going to beat me senseless or you have no idea what the hell you're doing," he remarked, shouting over the music at his opponent, a taunting smirk on his face. It was both banter and small talk—it all depended on how she'd respond.
