Brendon had arrived back on Coruscant that afternoon. The mission had been short, and he had only left the day before. He had a few days of leave now, to relax and see his love. He exited the military base in his civvies. He was more comfortable in his armour, it made him feel more himself, but that would not do for his time off. He walked down the street to where he was to meet her, hoping she would be there on time. He did have a few days, but next time he was called off he did not know how long it would be before he saw her again.

Calleigh walked slowly down the street to meet Brendon. Her fair hair was curled over her shoulders and she wore a simple blue dress that hugged her slender figure with perfection. She saw her love and sped up a little. When she reached him she threw her arms around him and kissed him lightly.

"Welcome back"

As she approached he felt a warm flutter in his chest. She looked amazing, and he struggled to tear his eyes from her body as she came and kissed him. He place his own arms on her waist and looked down into her eyes, which looked light blazing sapphires in the sunlight.

"Hello you," he said, a jovial smile playing across his lips as he continued, "Miss me?"

Calleigh smiled at him.

"No, not really"

She shrugged and pulled away from him, taking his hand.

"I've grown accustomed to not seeing you"

He was not surprised by her answer, he had only been gone for a day and a half. Before then they had spent two years without even knowing where the other was. He held her hand as they walked down the high streets of Coruscant, going nowhere in particular. It was good to have her back, he thought to himself. As they wandered, they spoke idly, carefree for the moment at least. As they continued their walk into a square he stopped and looked at her, "I think we should get married. Tonight."

Calleigh was caught up on their last topic when he proposed his idea.

"Tonight? Why so soon? We need plans and plans and stuff"

He had expected her to question it, it was a big step. But he answered confidently, "Because I love you, and I don't know when I'm gonna' have to leave again, or for how long. And really, what is there to plan? I don't have a huge guest list, and you only have...er..." he paused as he remembered the name, "...Cori. And since you're pretending to be dead, I don't think inviting many people to our wedding would be a good idea anyway."

Calleigh's jaw dropped. She was never pretending to be dead and she didn't appreciate the fact that he would say that.

"Whatever, its just the most important day of my life!"

Now she was angry. That was not good. He thought about what he had said for a moment. He did love her, and if he had to leave tomorrow for six months he would want to be married to her. He had not planned on inviting anyone himself anyway, there were few he would really call a friend, he had struggled to let people in since the fateful day. And she had been pretending she was dead, she had not corrected anyone else about it and they had met by chance, it would seem. And she had told him that she was scared of her would-be assassin discovering she was alive. He took a breath and spoke, "I know it is, and it's the most important day of mine. And all that matters to me is that you're there."

Calleigh wiped her eyes, they had been on the verge of tears.

"I'm sorry. Yes, tonight, let's get married"

He beamed. He could understand her being emotional, a lot had happened in a very short space of time. He took both og her hands in his and his eyes met hers, "That's fantastic," he kissed her and then continued, "where do you want to get married?"

Calleigh shrugged. She hated this planet and she certainly didn't care for any particular places.

"It doesn't matter to me"

He kept her hand in his as they walked, "Well let's go then."

The sun was setting as they walked through the upper levels of Coruscant. It may have been the busiest and most dangerous planet in the galaxy, but it looked so picturesque, the skyline on the golden backdrop.

Later

The sun had set. The stars flickered in the sky. Brendon now had a small gold band on his ring finger, and Calleigh one likewise. They stood alone on the platform, looking over one of the more peaceful parts of the planet, a garden, a gentle water stream trickling along, providing a break in the noise from the constant air traffic, that seemed so far away.

Calleigh smiled and looked over at Brendon.

"Do you have to leave?"

He tore his eyes from the view and looked at her; his wife. He could be called up at any time, and with the amount of petty squabbles going on between systems in the wake of the on and off problems with the Alsakans, he could be posted halfway across the galaxy the next week. But that was then, and he reurned her smile, "Not tonight," he said, "I'm all yours for now."

Calleigh lead him back into their room. She was going to make the most of possibly their last night together for a while.

He followed her into the room and took her in his arms. He kissed her and as he held her he never wanted to let go.

The Next Morning

Brendon was sleeping peacefully and he cursed as his datapad beeped. He was not just annoyed at being woken up so early and as he checked his chrono he realised it was before dawn. He rubbed his eyes, a grim feeling in his stomach as he picked it up. He knew this mean he had to leave. He pushed a button and read the message. His eyes widened in shock, "Oh shit..." he muttered. Calleigh was still asleep. He gently shook her, "Calleigh, honey, wake up."

His face may be gathering his normal military calm, but his eyes shone with fear and confusion. He took a deep breath and waited for Calleigh to awaken.

It took a few minutes for Calliegh to wake up cause she was still very tired. She opened her eyes and let the icy blue stare into him.

"Do you have to leave so soon?"

She was awake and he looked at her. She was the only person who he did not try to hide his fear from. He never let his job get to him, usually. But what he read was not usual. He swallowed and tried to find the words.

"Coruscant's been attacked," he said, simply.
