Bits of shattered ice bounced off Sol's upturned arm, his widened eyes tracking the large worm across the open chamber. For a moment he froze in place with surprise, taking in the thing's shape and movement, but it didn't last long as natural instinct took over.

The Wrean's eyes focused in on it with a dead-serious expression, stance lowering while he drew his vibroweapons, bouncing lightly once on his feet before jogging forward toward the worm. After lunging at Malou it wildly flung its face in Soleil's direction. The acolyte dropped to a skid, frost-coated jaws snapping clitter-clack over his head, and thrust his sword upward toward its "neck".

Its hide was tough, but not nearly so much as the armored back, and the metal-cutting blade sank partly into flesh. It screeched and whipped backward after the lunge, taking Sol- who refused to let go of his weapon- along with it. From his blade-hanging position, he managed to stab it twice more using his dagger before it flung him off, skidding and rolling across the blood-laden snow and ice. He immediately began scrabbling back to his feet to try something else, dizzy and bruised, but stubborn.

Vahliri instinctively raised both forearms to shield her face as the Iceworm emerged - blocking the shower of ice fragments and shards that sprayed into the open chamber. The half-Annfyn couldn’t help but stare at the terrifying creature that scuttled towards them - mandibles clicking and pointed legs jabbing small fractures into the ice. Every part of the motherfucker was ugly and lethal in equal parts.

“Oh COME ON!” Vahliri exclaimed, nostrils flaring and fluted ears flattening tightly to the sides of her skull. It was dreadfully cold, they’d been hiking for hours and now there was a hungry ice-worm trying to turn Sol into half-frozen seafood. She couldn’t exactly imagine how their luck could’ve gotten worse, but also wasn’t about to jinx it either.

The half-Annfyn didn’t have more than a split second to ponder their shitty situation before Malou grabbed her bicep, pulling her away from the beast as it lunged at them. A string of expletives rolled off Vahliri’s tongue - lightly tinged by her Induparan accent - and reverberated off the cavern walls. Without a moment of hesitation, Vahliri drew the curved hilt from her belt and ignited the crimson saber - bringing the weapon up into a close guard.

She watched as Sol was thrown across the room by the Iceworm, and took that opportunity to launch her own attack on the beast. While it was still thrashing in pain and facing the Wrean Acolyte, Vahliri darted forward, carving her crimson saber in an upward arc to slice across the Iceworms less-armored.. Neck? Belly?

There was some sense of satisfaction as the plasma blade sunk deeper into the creature’s flesh and elicited a pained screech, but the injury also wasn’t nearly as deep as the half-Annfyn had hoped. The worm immediately reared its head around and lunged downward - attempting to pierce the half-Annfyn with its mandibles and slice the girl in half in doing so. Vahliri narrowly managed to throw herself to the side in order to dodge, roughly colliding with frozen ground and rolling a few feet away. While it saved her from being chomped, the impact send the saberhilt flying out of Vahliri’s hand - sliding across the floor on the other side of the room.

It would take them a bit to take down the ice worm. It was quick and angry, but stupid enough to keep exposing its soft(ish) underbelly to the three of them. By the time the thing was finally subdued, Malou was breathing heavily. She found a bit of relief that it was over and that they'd managed to find that damn station.

"C'mon," she called to the others in between breaths. "Let's get the radio here set up or fixed so we can let the fleet know our location." In a few days, the station would be up and running and Hoth would be under Sith control.
