Spoiler: What is a Bounty?

A bounty is a contract of sercive, in which Party A (the Contractor) puts up X amount of credits in exchange for a service, to be performed by one or more preffesional bounty hunters, or Party BH. In the case of bounties, that service is specific to the aquisition or elimination of a third party, usually sentient, or Party C. It's about as simple a transaction as you could hope for. Right?​

Spoiler: Types of Bounties

• CRIMINAL: The aquisition has violated the law, and needs to be brought in.
• FETCH: Designed for missing persons, but often serves as a loophole for govt. and citizens alik to bring in person's of interst, suspects, and other's wanted for questioning. ALIVE ONLY
• PROPERTY: Bounties applying to the aquisition of objects, rather than individuals
• RETAINER: Used by Hutts and Senators alike to keep utilize the uniquely skilled members of the Bounty Hunter's Guild as temporary "consultant" on matters of personal security, or "errands" for an exhorbitant daily fee. GUILD HUNTERS ONLY

Spoiler: Who can place a Bounty?

Anyone that can afford it. Really. ANYONE. Don't be shy. Yes bounties are most commonly placed by goverments and corporations, with boatloads of credits. But if your character is crossed, and wants the best, and most brutal justice the galaxy has to offer, we can work something out. Hunter's can also be sent to recover property, or put on retainer as security consultants.

Furthermore, why not place a bounty on your own character!? Got a real troublemaker, or just a good guy with bad day? Create some interesting thread opportunites with us, and get tagged. We can always negotiate the safety of your toon.

If you witness another character publicly breaking the law in a thread, drop a line! We believe it only adds to the richness of the storytelling world on site to show consequences for actions.​

Spoiler: LEGAL INFORMATION

First of all, Contractors assume all legal responsibility for a bounty, and bounties are beholden to the same laws as their contractors. There are three major divisions of legal authority in the Galaxy: Republic Law, Corporate/ Rim Law, and Sovereign Law. Let's explore, shall we?

• REPUBLIC LAW: Just what it sounds like. The most common form of Bounty, under which the republic itseld takes out frequent contracts. The Republic has recently made such frequent use of the guild that they even pay subsides as a "retainer" fee

• CORPORATE/ RIM LAW: This applies to worlds existing outside the republic, as well as major companies that tend to keep offices outside of Republic space for this reason. Many of the laws here are similar to republic law, but with 1 huge difference, they are not monitered or enforced in any way by the Republic. This allows for much looser interpritations and, depending on the system, some pretty strange laws.

• SOVEREIGN LAW: In many cases, usually outside the republic, a single individual or small group makes the law. The best examples of these are Hutt controlled space, where the boss slug's word is the final one; Noble Families who have royal jurisdiction of their territory; or even certian Sith worlds, where the military governs . These Bounties are clearly among the sketchiest, but also, among the best paid.

There is plenty of room for intersectionality, of course. Any territory (including the Republic) in which the legal precident for a bounty would be shared, will almost always respect the contract a hunter brings. This is NOT the case however between warring territories (i.e. Sith and Republic), who will obviously not respect the legal authority of their opposition. Sovereign territory can be a crap shoot, as their willingess to comply with anything can be dependant on their mood.


The last, but not least detail of legality to keep in mind, is the responsibility of the Hunter. The contractor assumes full legal responsibility for their bounty, and once the aquisition is delivered or disposed of, the hunter is free of reproach. However, ALL hunter's are responsible for their own actions taken in aquiring their target. So if you have to (or just want to) play dirty, don't get caught.

GUILD hunters and ONLY Guild Hunter's are licensed, and thereby granted the unique privlege of having most misdemeanors waved when commited in the line of work. This privledge is most commonly observed on rim worlds outside the Republic as well, assuming the bounty itself is recognized.

Guild Hunters will ALWAYS attempt to bring their Aquisition in alive, unless explicity stated otherwise.
