Cal is a very idealistic man at heart. He believes in the Jedi cause and of their philosophy and has followed it since being introduced to the Jedi Code all those years ago. He is uncompromising in this regard and views the Exiles with disdain, the cause of all the chaos currently gripping the galaxy. He is not zealous in his belief that they're the cause of much pain, just the realization that without them the galaxy would be a safer and much less dangerous and chaotic place for all.
That being his nature, Cal is not without humor nor does he dislike candor of any kind. He is known for his quick wit and joking attitude. Even in the most intense situations he will always find a way to lighten the moods of those around him if not for his personal enjoyment but to stay flexible. Something long years of constant warfare have taught him to enjoy. Stern when necessary and a jokster when required. Cal is a valiant defender of the Jedi and Republic ideals but not without being an insufferable zealot with no character. Something which has aided him throughout his life and kept him, surprisingly, alive. -
Cal Dahn was born in the city of Iridonia, on the planet with the same namesake. Born to mercantile parents who owned their own business in the Yarrock trade, mining and packaging the spice for export off world. Because of this, Cal was raised in relative luxury and never wanted for much. His parents were caring and as the only child they spared no expense on his education and hired personal tutors to teach him all sorts of subjects. His father had the intent of one day Cal would take over the family business and so focused his studies on business and financial matters. These were the good early days of his life, before the chaos and before the Jedi. Being born in 6928, the war against the Exiles was still in full swing and Iridonia had not been spared. Although the fighting had yet to come planetside the high taxes and increase in young men being volunteered and sent to fight on the front lines of the Republic affected the planet all the same. But all this would change by the year 6920 when a Jedi Master would visit the planet in the hopes of requesting more aide from the Iridonian government on behalf of the Order.
Being an important business man with heavy ties off world due to his exports of Iridonia's addictive spice substance, Cal's father was included in one of these meetings. It was here that Cal was found to be force sensitive when his father brought him along to meet the Jedi Master. Although his father viewed the Jedi with neutrality at best, Cal viewed them as heroes who would drive the enemies back to the edges of space whence they came. Childhood notions that he would later carry into his training as a Jedi initiate. It took much convincing and many hours of placating but eventually Cal's father came around to the idea with Cal's mother viewing it as a chance for a life of adventure and something greater for their son. Something beyond the endless toils of market manipulation and tariff negotiations. So it was here that the young Zabrak met his first Jedi and his future Master.
Although the man was a diplomat at heart, he called the moon of Jedha his home. Working with the, then, Jedi Guardians to acquire resources to rebuild their ruined infrastructure. It was here that, for the next eight years, Cal would undergo training in the ways of the Jedi. Learning history, philosophy, culture and the art of a lightsaber among many other things. Cal was dutiful and diligent in his training and showed leadership qualities when aiding his fellow initiates when any had trouble or fell behind in certain task even at the expense of his own advancement. With the war still raging in the galaxy at large his studies were pushed along as quickly as allowed without stretching the teachings to the point no one learned anything. But with Jedha's relatively isolated location it meant little worry of Exile raids or subterfuge that might threaten the younglings. It was a good eight years of learning and forming friendships that Cal would come to cherish with time.
Once he turned 16, Cal was put through the Trials by his Master and passed without complaint and after the ceremony with his fellow initiates was knighted as a full Jedi. Being the year 6912, Jedi Councilor Shivaaga had begun his campaign in the northeastern Outer Rim where Cal would accompany his Master into war for the first time. During this time Cal spent many years on the front as he fought on many worlds in many battles. His knowledge of war and tactical expertise certainly excelled as he fought from one world to another. Mentally he learned just as he did physically, learning the martial art known as Echani from his Master while improving his skill and prowess with a lightsaber more than a young Knight should in that amount of time. But war, as horrible as it was, was the fastest advancement of technology as well as on a personal scale. And advance he did. He not only learned of small to mid-sized infantry unit tactics but of how to fly a fighter craft in combat and the bigger picture of space and/or ship to ship battles. All this was ingrained into Cal in the years he followed his Master alongside his fellow Jedi against the Exiles.
In 6904, eight years later, Cal would return to Jedha with his Master and quickly prepare to depart for the sacred world of Ilum. News had arrived that a great force of Exiles had regrouped and launched an offensive to take the world from the Jedi. Once again Cal followed his Master off to due battle with their eternal enemy. Arriving in the system, Cal was left to battle the Exile ships left in orbit while his Master went planet side with the Grand Master in an attempt to stop whatever plan the Exile Warlords had. For hours, Cal utilized his starfighter to combat the Exile forces. By this time Cal was more than an expert and could potentially be considered a Jedi ace as he easily dispatched enemy fighters...right until it happened. He felt it within himself, within the Force, before he saw it. First came the sudden loss of life, then the loss of someone whose presence he knew all too well. Then the explosion. After eight years of war he had never before suffered such loss and felt it all at once. Everything seemed to have stopped at that instant. Even whatever remained of the Exile forces seemed to have slowly withdrawn before the order was given for the remains of the Jedi forces to do the same. And so he left. Back to Jedha. Alone as he viewed it.
In the next year, Cal struggled with the loss of his revered Master but kept on nonetheless. Knowing full well that is what he would have counseled him to do. He was not the only one affected after all. The whole Order felt the loss just as he. Another fellow Jedi had lost someone they knew just as he. Yet they continued on. Or so he thought. Not long after his chosen leader, Master Sige declared himself Grand Master after the events and revelations of Ilum, had another tragedy struck. A rogue ship and a dead Grand Master. They seem to drop as easily as Knights in the battlefield these days. What hurt him most was the fact that another Jedi had performed the act before fleeing, with their own ship. Rumored at least. But Cal soon became overwhelmed with the constant betrayals by those he once called friends. Cleaning up the aftermath of their decisions just as he would have to clean up after the Exiles eventually found their secluded temple. No doubt revealed by one of the many to betray them and flee Jedha. Always the easy path, the darkside was. As he pulled his fellow Jedi from the ruins and aided them to escape or carry them on his shoulders to healers, he felt disillusioned. Helpless. The constant death and intrigue wearing down on his mind. He could feel the emotions popping up from within himself after all those years of learning their weakness. And most of all he could feel the anger. Anger for those that would cause such slaughter and careless betrayal all to further themselves and their visions of grandeur. So he left. He took his Masters ship, which had survived the bombardment, and fled Jedha after helping with the evacuation. He knew not where he was going but he didn't stop.
Cal awoke one morning with a feeling of longing. For months he had been secluded within the rainforest of Mimban, a planet in the Expansion Region home to no civilized life. Here he had spent time searching within himself for a calling. Something to focus on and re-attune himself with the Force and all the life around him. To rid his mind of his feelings of anger, fear and loss suffered in the years of repeated loss. But one day he just...found it. Found whatever he was searching for within himself as he packed the few belongings he had and readied his ship for departure of the planet he became familiar with in his self imposed exile. Newly invigorated in his ideals and belief in the Jedi and of himself, he departed the planet and headed towards Tython. Towards a unified Order. -
Force Mastery
Telekinesis: Like most Jedi, Cal can utilize the Force to manipulate objects and people he could see. This ability could be used in the offensive nature to Push, Pull or Lift people and/or objects or defensively to hold targets in stasis or hold back certain elements. It could even be utilized personally to enhance Cal's ability to jump farther and/or higher. When it comes to more specific manipulation, Cal can utilize a small flash of light to distract or impair his foes.
Control Abilities: Cal can use the Force for various personal uses. Whether it be to augment his movements or to enhance his body during combat. He could also utilize the ability to speed himself up though at the cost of endurance. Lastly, Cal can control his body and use the Force to assure his survival of critical bodily functions.
Sense Abilities: When it comes to the environment, Cal can use the Force to hear, see and smell things that a normal humanoid being would not be able to. Of course a more simple and universal ability would be to able to sense certain things. Whether that be emotions from others, dangers or incoming threats.
Mental Abilities: When it comes to the mind the Force serves as a Jedi's greatest ally. Like the majority of Jedi, Cal can trick the minds of vulnerable beings into answering questions truthfully or to deter anyone looking to question himself. A useful ability for non-violent outcomes. Most recently of all his abilities is his battle meditation. When used it has the ability to boost or erode ones ability to fight. While only able to be used on a single individual with constant focus, Cal hopes to one day inspire groups.
Physical Mastery
Piloting: Through almost a decade of warfare, Cal has practically become a Jedi ace. His skill in the Force augmenting his hard earned skill of piloting a starship or land speeder alike. His time spent in a cockpit has earned him the respect of a few fellow pilots he once served alongside.
Lightsaber: What would a Jedi be without his saber? Certainly a lot less than what they are without their iconic weapon. Cal has a somewhat extensive knowledge in this field due to spending almost a decade on the front line of many battles.
Form I: Like all Jedi younglings, Cal was taught the ways of Shii-cho and all the basics the wide swooping style offers. Though not regularly used it is always the most basic form to fall back on.
Form II: Though not particularly skilled in the form, Cal has dabbled in the intricate ways of Makashi. The elegant form no doubt serving for duels against single opponents who wield a lightsaber it however is not his first, second or third choice.
Form III: Cal is an expert of Soresu to the fullest. He embodies the forms techniques and mind for defensive combat and the patience and perception to wield its non-aggressive nature. With more time he could be considered a true master of the form.
Form IV: Over the years Cal has expressed an interest in Ataru but with the difficulty of learning the style and the constant battles that drag on longer than he would like, he hasn't had the time to delve too deeply into it. Though he is proficient he still has much to learn.
Form V: Another style in which Cal will one day master. Using his expertise of Soresu, Cal has managed to be just as skilled in Shien/Djem So and uses the two forms to great effectiveness on the battlefield. When the defensive nature of Soresu needs an outlet he will always turn to this form first.
Form VI: With his natural skill in the previous three forms, Cal has found it rather easy to learn Niman. While no particular expert he does appreciate the simplistic motions of the Form and utilizes its combined saber/Force techniques when needed.
Form VII: Juyo has never tempted or interested Cal in anyway. Though he knows of the style he has never practiced it himself and has no future plans to do so.
Echani: This very useful skill was personally taught to Cal by his now deceased master. While he was taught in more traditional and simplistic hand to hand combat forms, it wasn't until taught the deadly art form of Echani that Cal felt safe should he not need or have his lightsaber. Far from mastery but far from novice. Cal can be just as deadly unarmed as with his saber.
Multilingual: Like other Jedi, Cal knows many languages from his studies and more so from his travels around the known galaxy. From Galactic Standard to the ability to understand some Wookie it has proved a valuable asset in his duties as a Jedi Knight. And on the occasion he must negotiate with others who don't speak Standard his studies as a Jedi seem all the more useful.

Utility Belt: Due to his constant readiness and travel schedule, Cal keeps a utility belt around his waist with all sorts of useful gadgets; including a datapad, commlink, rebreather, and grapple spike for climbing.
Clothing: Custom Jedi robes with Jedi dueling duraplast gauntlets, phrik coating on the hands, and duraplast greaves.
Droid(s): A simple Y1-series Astromech Droid with blue paint markings.
